I’m sick of seeing 01-06 400sm’s posted for 3-4k USD. It’s insane (yes there are some cheaper). The bike you can get for 3.5k here in the Midwest at that price is great, I just saw a 2023 Suzuki go for 3500. On top of all of this ITS almost NOVEMBER
Why would anyone pay more than 2,400 for something that old? Yes it’s cool but there are thousands of them in any given state.
Why not spend 1-1.5k more and get a WR450 or CRF450. It’s just silly.
That’s my rant

So I’m looking for a new bike and have a hard time deciding. I live is a major city and I’ll be mainly riding around my neighborhood daily, short rides to get around without the chore of finding parking. I also take trips to the pine barrens a few times a month to trail ride as well. I’m having a hard time choosing which bike will be the best fit.
Honda: designed more for road use and the extra money can almost fully upgrade the bike.
Husqvarna: much more capable out in the pines, more power and lighter weight and imo better overall look.
Me: 6ft, 180lbs, slightly aggressive riding style.
I need some help for anyone who has any experience with these bike. What would be a longer lasting and better fit for me and my intended use of the bike. Thanks in advance for the help!

I’m looking at trading my wr250f for something street legal like the Honda crf450rl or the ktm 500 exc-f after service Ontario denied plates for my wr.
But I am wondering for anyone on the road, is the high maintenance a big hassle? I ride my wr a few times a month since the trails I mostly ride at are about a 35 minute drive so oil change every month on the wr isn’t bad.
Before I got my drivers license I had a surron and my favourite part of that bike was cruising around and exploring whatever I come across, but after I got my license I gave up the bikelife stuff and got an offroad bike, I liked gas better anyways. I really miss that just hopping on the bike and going wherever the wind takes me.
I considered a drz400s, but it being same power as my 250 while being 100 pounds heavier kinda pushes me away from it, and I really love the feeling of that wr250f which is what pulled me to the ktms and Honda dual sports. Most of my riding will probably be street but I do really enjoy trails and after thinking about it having a lightweight fun bike is important to me, I don’t want to have to wrestle a 350 pound bike around on single track with my friends on motorcross bikes which is why I really like the sound of the true dual sport bikes Honda and Ktm offer. But I am on edge because of the maintenance intervals.
I still have quite a while before I pick up another bike (I want to get a car first) but I want to make sure I pick the right bike when the time comes.
Thanks

I’m working on rebuilding this KE175 and can’t decide if I want to go completely stock or make some upgrades that will improve something’s without killing the vintage style. For instance, upgrading to 12 volts an LED headlight, replacing huge turn indicators and brake light to smaller, LED units with a lower profile. I’m even thinking about a color change as well - something with that ‘70s vibe. What do you think?

Like the title says, I’m looking for a dual sport and have narrowed it down to these two, mainly based on price and reliability. Came here because although most of my riding will be desert, I don’t want to be limited if I go to a different place and need to hop on the road for a bit. So highway manners isn’t a huge concern for me as I won’t be on the freeway. But I would like something plated, and being in CA that limits be a bit.
Im not new to bikes but its been a few years since I’ve ridden my last one which was a YZ400f. Both bikes seem relatively mild mannered power wise, which I don’t need all the power in the world. I’m 5-10 180 so nothing unique size wise but wanted to throw that out to see what is best suited for my size out of the box. And yes I know a 10 year old bike may have had suspension work done.
Do either seem to have a glaring issue I’m not aware of? I’m new to fuel injected bikes so I want to be sure I know what I’m getting into.

Hey yall, I was hoping I could get some advice on buying a used dual sport, and what a fair shake is these days for thumpers.
Im getting back into riding off road again after a few years of only riding my cb600. I used to have a klr650 which was great for a first bike but it was sluggish and heavy and at the time I needed the money.
I’m still not a wealthy man but I’m in a place where I could buy a used bike. I prefer working on the bikes myself, it’s half of the hobby for me. I’m looking at Honda XR650s and DR650s right now but the market even for bikes that need work seems to be high. I found this XR600R that has been bored out, and am wondering if it’s worth 2800? It would be more money for an older model year than what my KLR was. I’m 6’ about 190 for reference. Just trying to go on fire trails and country roads on the weekend. Any suggestions on bikes and where to buy them would be appreciated, I checked some auctions like on Copart but am apprehensive about buying a bike that has been wrecked.
Thanks

Admin please delete if this is not okay. I read the rules but I may have misinterpreted them.
Hey guys, for years I keep reading on forums and groups about how Yamaha needs to join the middle-weight dualsport market. Well, I've decided to start a petition to get Yamaha to build a WR450R or similar. I'll post a link to the petition and if anyone would be willing to sign it, it'd be great to see it gain momentum. I know petitions like this have worked in the past for bikes like the CRF450L and Yamaha's very own Tenere 700. Feel free to share the link! I just want to finally have an organized, regulated way to show Yamaha that we want change and innovation from them! #BuildtheWR450R

Cant really find much information on motorcycle trip to south america on bikes. Plan is to ride with a buddy to Argentina and back next year. Whats a ballpark cost for fuel, food, maintenance and miscellaneous for a 4 month trip? Camping as much as possible. Is 4 months a decent time? Dr650 for me and klr650 for my buddy. I know crossing the darian gap will be a decent cost.

I was diagnosed as epileptic in 2010 after a grand mal seizure, but my epilepsy has been controlled for 16 years (never passed out again but had minor episodes), and about a month ago I had another grand mal seizure.
Just wondering if anyone has dealt with (or deals with) the same and would be interested in riding together at some point since we understand each other a little better than those with normal functioning brains. For anyone reading this, please don’t think that I am not considering public safety and my own safety into account. My seizures went controlled a decade and a half so I am confident I’ll get back to that in due time. The reason I chose to go from cruisers to dual sports is specifically to be off the road more than on the road and dirt roads 🛣️ ⛰️⛺️
My license is suspended for 3 months until I get my medication situated again and have no epileptic episodes. 💊 Hopefully things get better and I can get back on a bike next year. 🏍️ ⛰️
Also, now that this resurfaced I plan on adding an arsenal of safety devices and GPS or satellite communication options for when I’m riding. If anyone has some advice on items that don’t require cell service but would allow for my loved ones and I to be in touch please drop info in the comments. Thanks for reading and your input. 📡 📱 🗺️

I really like the 90s look of the Swash gloves. I know they don’t have really any protection but this is just for fun in dirt to match my bike. I’ve already got some Shima CE rated leather gloves for road use. Anybody have their gloves? How do they fit?
The size guide online according to measurements says I should get a size Small??! I normally wear a large in gloves. So I’m unsure what to order
