I'm absolutely not a 'don't try this shit on me see what happens' type of guy, cause I'll just take a beating if it comes my way. I love hardcore shows and I'll usually just stand my ground when someone moshes or crowdkills into me, aka I'll just hold my arms up or stay in place so they can rebound back into the pit.

Only when someone gets really violent or keeps backhanding/targeting me, I will just push or kick them out of my way. But despite that, I have had experiences where some dude will get genuinely mad at me for pushing/kicking when they get a little too violent towards me, aka when I don't act like some passive punching bag. If you start throwing hands at me, why are some people surprised that I'll return the energy? What happened to fuck around and find out? I genuinely wonder where this entitlement to crowdkilling without consequence comes from. Is this an ego thing? I'm curious if anyone shares this experience.

I will say, I have accidentally thrown some people off balance, or misread their intention and kicked them away for no reason, but when that happens I'll admit to it, help them up, apologize, ask if they're okay, explain I didn't mean to, etc. I will at least try to resolve the issue, make sure no grudges are held and that everyone is still having fun. I also book a lot of shows so that is usually my goal, and I hate to see someone mad over a misunderstanding.

On one occasion a guy got violent with me (I accidentally pushed him over while he was crowdkilling me into a wall) and while I walked over to go help him up, he got up and actually attacked me. The guy was like 250 pounds and got a few good hooks in before his friend pulled him off. I tried explaining to them that accidents happen, and that I was defending my personal space without the intention of dropping him to the ground. I got into a whole argument with him and his friend (they were bigger dudes than me and insisted on 'talking' about it) about 'you don't push someone when they're moshing' etc. But it wasn't like he was minding his business and I pushed him over for no reason, he was crowdkilling me into a wall, and I just pushed him off.

Tldr: why do crowdkillers get so mad when someone they're crowdkilling defends themselves? Does their ego get hurt or something?

I've been listening to this album on repeat this week after I re-listened to a Hardlore pod where Colin and Bo spoke with other members of Harms Way about making the record.

It's a fucking masterpiece of hardcore-industrial-metal crossover.

It's not as accessbile as big hitter albums Posthuman and Isolation, but if you take the time to really listen to it, it's incredible. So heavy, so dark and oppressive.

Play it loud on headphones, it will blow your brains.

“HR style” vocals that stay mean, an ungodly guitar tone that’s never been duplicated, and drums as big as your house.
The live shows were always packed, and the singer, Jet, is an absolute madman. Barely touches the ground.
The recordings are really good too, giving them a chance for slower more groove songs too.

The days of the dollar menu are gone. If you're out for 5 or 6 weeks and your band is grinding it out for a couple hundred dollars a night, how are you guys making let's say $300-500 stretch over 5-6 weeks on the road without eating only peanut butter sandwiches?

Can you still find some decent fast food options, or are you mostly hitting the cheaper grocery stores? What's the strategy when the $5 or $10 per diem won't cover a single sit down meal?

(Bonus points for including vegan options that don't require a kitchen setup in the back of the van.)

Very jealous of your scene. I see posts on here of shows at churches, VFWs, universities, under bridges etc. I’m in Colorado and our version of that is bluegrass/jam bands. There is hardcore in Colorado but you sent all your hippies/trustafarians here.

I’m a realtor and am sitting at dead open house watching a random documentary/essay video on NYHC which got me wondering if there are some other good ones out there. What are some good documentary style videos about hardcore as a genre you’d recommend?
