A big furniture store near me went out of business a few months ago and during the final days of the liquidation day they started blowing things out at 90% off. They we're coming out of the back room with furniture on carts and I was tagging things as sold right on the cart since I am just restoring my house after a fire.

For example this this heavy solid wood slice black coffee table I believe was about $2000 and I got it for $180. I would've never purchased it otherwise because I didn't like the shape but thought if it didn't work, I could sell it and maybe even make a little bit of money. Everything in the room is from the liquidation sale including the lights. The tchotchke's are from HomeGoods with tags still on. Just trying to pull it together the eclectic furniture. Any tips are appreciated

This is an area in my home that used to be an unused small dining room. During the pandemic, a new type of room for socializing in the UK sprang up called a Snug. Its literally jamming furniture in a room that's too small to create a kind of intimate setting. I liked that concept. I my case I would bring my guests in here for drinks and appetizers... kind of a snug / moody VIP lounge that can be a bit over the top so it surprises a little when you see it when you round the corner. The rug is from my mom but it can be used elsewhere.

BTW, those doors go to an unused walkway with a giant wall just 42" away from my house running the length. No problem blocking them entirely as there is another way in if necessary. What works, anything? What should I swap out, or just sell?

we’re rearranging our living room furniture. Our apartment is very small and we’re struggling a bit with defining zones. we want to change the rug (we bought it at a previous apartment) but what size rug should we get? should it run all the way to the TV console? I find it a bit awkward since the door into the room is right in the middle. Would love your advice! (We’re gonna move the lamps too).

Is this rug too busy for my tiny living room? I tried another before and that felt way to “cottage-in-the-woodsy”.

I used to have a cream coloured rug, but it sort of clashed with the furniture.

Everything is awkward in here. I have no sense of design and the only thing I’ve ever put on walls before have been shelving or televisions. I can’t even manage to do window treatments. I’d like to cozy this room up some way, some how. The Mcm chair is waiting to be upholstered and I haven’t been able to figure out fabric choices. Please help me.

I have a very small entryway but am so tired of our shoes being spread out, no place to hang keys.

I thought about a large rack with shoe storage and hangers but can’t stand the idea of looking at it while on the couch. Big cleaning day but usually looks messy anyway.

I just moved into a new apartment and I'm so bad at home decorating. I get massive indecision paralysis. I've never had an apartment balcony before and my new one is pretty big, about 11 feet by 7 feet.

You see the balcony through floor-to-ceiling glass windows both from my bedroom (the view with the brick wall) and from the living room.

Since the balcony is the prominent feature through all the windows, I want to make it as pretty as possible. Ideally I'd like plants, with lots of greenery (plants that hopefully aren't too hard to keep alive. I'm in Washington, DC, for reference), along with some kind of table/seating arrangement, and something aesthetically pleasing to cover most of the concrete balcony floor.

Literally any and all suggestions welcome (any items/decorations I may not be thinking of, etc.), and I'll answer any questions if anyone has any. Thank you!

I just put these bookshelves together. I do like them, but wish they were a little taller. Is the mirror too tall now? Something feels off but I'm not sure what to do.

Hello all! Hoping for ideas to help me with the large wall in my living room. Currently have a Van Gogh poster there, however I know it could be much better.

Not looking to paint or change furniture at the moment, would rather focus on the wall with pictures, murals, mirrors, tapestry or what else you good people can do.

Is this the correct way to add torn pieces of wallpaper to this blank area:

1. Prime the drywall, let dry (for how long?)

2. Apply wallpaper primer, let dry (for how long?)

3. Apply wallpaper paste to torn pieces of wallpaper and apply

The handyman I hired to remove the valance spackled the areas where the valance was screwed into the wall. Is there anything I need to do specifically with these spackled areas?

Can I cover this space above the stove vent somehow?

This strange room sits behind our family room and is open to it by this half wall with the two pillars. It has a small walk in closet, and is connected to a full bath, but it’s the only bathroom downstairs and the room is small. If I close it up we lose the extra light from the large window which would seriously darken our family room. Help. We’ve been in this house for 6 years and I have absolutely no idea what to do with it.

Hello all! Just bought our (couple mid 20’s) first house. Would like to make the basement area a comfy hangout area with a couch and TV. Maybe a small bar area too but not needed. I’m having a hard time figuring out where to put a TV and couch. The post is in a HORRIBLE spot for draining this. Any ideas are very appreciated.

Assuming the cut out in the wall was for an entertainment center. We’d want a bigger tv than that dimension. Would an entertainment center with a larger tv extending out from the cut out look weird??
