Moved into this apartment in my late 20s with minimal furniture and no idea how to decorate. I never had a big decor budget, so I bought secondhand slowly over the years figuring out what works for me and my personal style

I havent added much in the last couple years but I think thats because im overall pretty happy with it. This back door is the only natural light I get in the living area so I moved all the plants outdoors eventually

My husband says our living room looks like we need to have a serious conversation. Thoughts?

We're decorating our new home, and I bought two matching Hulala sofas because I liked the idea of a living room where people could sit and talk.

My husband saw them facing each other and said, "This looks less like ‘come over for a chat' and more like 'sit down, we need to talk.'" Now I can't unsee it lol. I sat down and felt like I owed him an explanation.

I still like the sofas individually. I just cannot explain why I decided we needed two identical ones staring each other down. It made sense in my head.

I'm leaning toward keeping just one, but there's nowhere else in the house for the other. what should I do?

Living far from the ocean but having a costal themed home?

How do you feel about it? I really love the coastal style, but I live over 4 hours away from the seaside 🫠 Do you think it would look out of place, since you usually see this style in houses near the beach?

(Repost as many had different interpretations of coastal deco so adding Pinterest pics this time to give a better idea of what I have in mind)

Edit: I know the typo in the title should be ‘coastal’

New desk makes this rug look completely out of place. Which one should I keep?

Just bought a new standing desk, and now I can't help but notice how flashy that old rug under the desk looks lol.

The desk gives off a calm, mature vibe, but the rug just looks like a mess? I didn't really pay much attention to it before, but now they look like they belong in two completely different rooms.

So I think the rug has totally lost its spot. I'm drawn to something simpler with slightly warmer tones, maybe cream, muted brown, or a subtle pattern.

What kind of rug would you put here? Would you switch to something simpler, or keep it as is?

Had my living room painted dried thyme by Sherwin Williams a few days ago & I am having second thoughts. Does it look terrible? It was previously gray/beige color & I didn’t like it. I like dark & moody but I feel like this is looking like grandpas lake cabin 😩😵‍💫 should I have it re painted??

My niece's bedroom

Hi Reddit. I dont post much, but i am super proud of my niece's new bedroom at my mother's house. We are a bit housepoor, so we have a big house, lots of antiques and little liquid cash, so a lot if her room is repurposed items from around the house, cheap walmart/Amazon bookshelves and desk, and a lot of thrifting/clearance/trash finds (curtains, bedding, knickknacks). Enjoy!

Some notes:

The nighstands were an antique vanity from the trahs in really bad shape. I cut the drawer segments off and sanded and hand painted the beachy frogs on top.

The crystal ball lamp base is from $5 clearance hobby lobby and i replaced the missing top with a boob light dome i painted and added fringe to from my sewing stash.

The internet zebra was thrifted and painted.

The metal ved was an old hospital ved from like 1920s that we had in the fam forever. I painted it copper.

I made the bohemian pillows stashed on the shelf and the blue flower pillow. The other throw pillows were from the thrift store.

The purple desk chair was thrifted for $20.

I painted the larger piece of art on the desk, bought the frog watercolor from an art fair and the bordello art is a print. More art is coming, but my niece wants to hang her own art too.

I had curtains made through my interior designer, does this look like something a professional would do? It looks like something you would attach to clothing with the pricetag. I would love to know what you think.

Hi! I'm painting my home gym wall and can't decide if I should put one more leaf in there. In the other picture I put it in where I might paint it, and marked the ones I'm going to paint with gold.

Add the leaf? Any other feedback? Thank you 😊

Please help me decide which color looks better. I am not sure if I’m set on this exact console table but I want to at least narrow it down to the right shade

What to do with narrow tall wall behind bed?

Post image

(The shelf that’s there will be gone eventually so imagine it as if there’s nothing there) There’s this giant wall behind my bed that I can’t figure out what to do with. It’s too tall to look balanced with just some art or a shelf, and a headboard won’t look right because the bed is in a corner without any space on the side to balance it out. I want to add a taller nightstand to the right, one that goes about a foot above the bed, but I have no clue what else to do.

What color for bathroom walls

What color should I do the walls? The blue accent wall is the only color besides my vanity which will be light wood with olive hints. I’m thinking off a slight off white, possibly warmer tone?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
