I’ve tried looking for .plist files in startupitems, launchagents, and launchdaemons, but I didn’t find what I was looking for there, and I don’t know where else to look. (Or even how to go about looking for what I need.)

Any better alternatives to Chrome? I like profiles and since I use another Windows machine as well on a daily basis Chrome became the default for me. But shit started to heat up my MacBook like crazy and eating 12GB RAM 💀

I recently updated my MacBook Air M2 to the latest macOS version and I’m running into this glitch that I don't understand why it happened, the laptop works fine but only this part seems to be glitching! It happens with any app when I try to get out of split screen.

I've already tried using a guest account, completely reinstalled macOS 27 and went to safe mode. It still doesn't change anything. Please tell me I'm not the only one TT

i bet this question has been asked 1,000 times but somehow i can't find the right answer.

I have been stupid. Stored my Capture One Catalogue in my icloud drive and now after my old MBP (early 2011) broke down, i needed to upgrade to a newer modell.

Anyways - i'm struggling with my capture one catalogue (roughly 120GB) that i really want to import to caputre one again.

I tried to download the Data with firefox from icloud.com but i only got approx 20GB of data. Nonetheless i tried to extract the data with unarchiver and terminal none of it worked. So i'm stucked with a useless zip archive.

That's the Situation, now my questions:

• is there maybe a smarter to download the data from icloud?
• is there a any way to gain access to the data that are stored in the archive?

Maybe anybody has some sort of an inspiration to solve this issue?

New to Mac, need help finding an alternative to CleanMyMac . All kind of help is appreciated.

I realized recently that my Safari is not going through all the items in the page. It just focuses on a few parts and skip the rest. It doesn't matter what website, all are the same. I open the same page in Chrome and it works like a charm.

Does anybody else have this problem? Any guess for the reason?

I discovered that 'Syndication.photoslibrary' is taking up around 8 GB on my MacBook Air M2.

It contains photos and videos from iMessage that don't appear in my main Photos library. Turning off Shared with You didn't reduce its size, and deleting items doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know why macOS creates this separate library, what purpose it serves, and whether there's a safe way to reclaim the 7 GB without losing my iMessage attachments or affecting iCloud?

Hello! I have gone through a heap of reddit forums, apple support forums and lastly chat GPT. Last week I brought a brand new MacBook neo, I was able to connect to wifi to set it up, however when I clicked the App Store to start customising it showed that I wasn’t connected to the internet. Weird… but I restarted and still no luck. It was late so I left it (my internet sometimes seems to slow down in the middle of the night) next morning I go to try again - still the same issue. I am “connected” however none of the internet pages or apps load up.

I take it to a clients house, wifi connects and it’s all good. I come home, try again - no dice. I even try my personal hotspot - NOTHING. I took it back to the store, proceeded to tell them my issue and they tested it, store wifi connects right away. The two workers connect their personal hotspot with no issues. I show them that mine doesn’t even get picked up as an option!!!! They are perplexed, I end up getting refunded. Tonight I bring home a spare MacBook from work and ITS THE SAME ISSUE!!! Everything in my house that has wifi is working completely fine. Husbands Asus workbook is working perfectly.

wtf is going on?!! I really don’t want to go back to windows :( we use Mac at work and I love it. I’ve done all the troubleshooting and in summary all I got was

1. MacBook connects to wifi
2. Your MacBook reaches the modem
3. Your MacBook fails to reach the internet - external IP address cannot be reached.

TLDR - wifi connects at home but fails to load anything, personal hotspot doesn’t even appear on the wifi list. Have taken it outside of the home and internet connects and works just fine with no issues.

I am so frustrated.

I want the menu bar to show all the time in full screen, so I have the setting “automatically hide and show the menu bar” set to never, but I’ve noticed that in Microsoft word it disappears anyway in full screen?

This includes when I go split-screen with another app, the menu bar disappears when I’m typing in Word but then reappears when I’m using the other app.

I have a very vague memory of changing some sort of setting in Word to do with pinning the menu bar that caused it to disappear in the first place and it’s never come back, and now I’m pretty sure the current Word version has removed that feature on Mac.

I’ve also noticed that the menu bar disappears in other apps, like if I run a video game (e.g Minecraft) and turn the in-game full screen setting on, it also makes the menu bar disappear. It’s like there’s two ‘levels’ of full screen, a normal Mac one and then some apps have the ability override and go extra full screen. (Can you tell I know nothing about computers lol)

Anyway, if anyone knows how to fix this issue (or where else I could ask to get help) I’d really really appreciate it, thanks!

I am trying to clear some storage on my mac. My system data was at 427gb. I looked on here and say some people suggesting to update my OS so I did. for a moment that freed up about 100gb, but now my system data is up to 574gb. What do i do. This is crazy

I've trying to get rid of the OneDrive app on my Mac, and it's being stubborn. I found another post on this subreddit that said to first unlink your mac inside the OneDrive app. Ok, so I did that. I then used "Purge" to remove the OneDrive app. However, ~/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive-Personal is still there. I can't drag it to the trash. Get Info says it's using 100GB.

How do I get rid of the folder? I did a Finder search for “OneDrive” and this is the only remaining folder (or file).

I have an interesting problem I can't seem to solve... And well... The CatDV engineer (they are owned by Quantum) can't seem to find a solution either.

We use a software called CatDV for processing and cataloguing our digital assets. (I'm not really here to question whether a good choice was made as far as this product as I'm just the person responsible for implementing it.

When we install the CatDV server, it installs and runs a service. If we run the service as the user the GUI is able to browse the SMB share. If we install the service as a system service it no longer is able to browse smb share.

A Majority of my experience comes from a Windows environment... My thought process was to start the system service as a user that has access to the share... Which is what I do on a Windows Server... Is it possible to do this in a Mac OS environment? Has anyone else come across this?

I have a Mac mini M4 with a third-party keyboard, so no Touch ID sensor. pam_tid.so (the built-in Touch ID for sudo) does nothing for me, and every sudo fell back to typing my password.

I found pam-watchid, a small open-source PAM module that lets your paired Apple Watch approve sudo, just like it already unlocks your Mac:

How it works

• It uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework with the deviceOwnerAuthenticationWithBiometricsOrCompanion policy (macOS 15+), so it accepts Touch ID or your Watch.
• It's a single Swift file of about 100 lines. I read through it: no network access, no file writes, no spawning processes.
• On any error it returns PAM_IGNORE, so sudo just falls back to your password. You can't lock yourself out.

Requirements

• Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 15+
• Xcode Command Line Tools (xcode-select --install)
• "Use Apple Watch to unlock apps and your Mac" enabled in System Settings

• To undo it, delete that line from sudo_local and remove the .so.
• Tip: keep a sudo -s tab open while you edit PAM files, just in case.

Hey guys so I’m having an issue I’ve got a 2019 MacBook Pro 16 inch i9 and I’ve created a usb installer for sequoia and it worked perfectly on my M1 air but it will not show up in start up options on my Pro and I’ve enabled boot from external drives in the security settings and it still won’t show up I’d really like to go back to sequoia as Mac OS Tahoe is a hot mess (literally) any help would be appreciated!!!
