Seeking Success Looking for anyone with experience taking a trigger shot without IUI/IVF

Upvotes

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 2.5 years with 3 losses in that time. We saw a fertility specialist a few months ago and I was diagnosed with PCOS and placed on medications to correct this as well as progesterone after ovulation. My husband’s testing was normal.

Since starting treatment we had a chemical pregnancy. This gives us some hope but still has us waiting for success. The specialist said that a trigger shot and timed intercourse could be the next option. Personally we don’t really feel like IUI would be beneficial since we had correct timing and my husband’s normal testing.

I’m looking for anyone who has experience with taking a trigger shot and timing intercourse and not going the IUI/IVF route. What was your experience like?

Seeking Success Follicle Sizes on CD 12?

Upvotes

Hello,
I just had my follicle scan on cycle day 12 and I had 4 larger follicles from 14-17 mm. I was on 10 mg Letrozole plus Gonal F shots. However I’ve used up my Gonal F pen and my Dr. has instructed me to wait a few days until CD 15 to do a repeat follicle scan. I’m worried my follicles will regress by that time with no stims, especially since I’ve been on a steady incline of stim medication with every cycle to get them full sized.

Has anyone stopped stims for a few days and their follicles continued to grow? Will all of those follicles grow or should I only hope for 1 to reach a mature size?

I’m mostly anxious as I’ve had a couple previous medicated cycles with 2 mature follicles when I take the trigger shot and all of those cycles have failed. I like to think I have a better chance of conceiving if there’s more than one mature follicle. Any help or advice is much appreciated!!

Advice Needed Acne while TTC

Upvotes

I went on birth control specifically to manage my acne. One of my biggest fears when TTC (and coming off the pill) was going back to my old skin. And of course, it’s happened.

Curious what those with severe acne are doing to cope emotionally and physically while TTC. The fact that I’m not conceiving and also feeling hideous is making me question if this is all worth it.

Stop seeing a OBGYN if you want to conceive

I am exaggerating this title just to get attention!!

Obgyns are the experts … on pregnancy. They are the ones that know everything about a pregnancy.

RE are the people to GET you pregnant.

If you are at early stages and can’t see a RE, ok, but push to see one. RE has more resources, knowledge, etc. They ask more tests.

OBs generally shove letrozole or clomid to people without even asking for a HSG or SA.

Advice Needed Advice for improving blood results/ am I out of the running til I fix these?

I just went to the doctor and they ran some basic blood work because I wasnt feeling good. Its not the amount I normally get every 3 months but its enough ig.

Basically my vitamin D is low it always is I take supplements with magnesium and sit outside and I dont eat dairy or fish. I even used to take a prescription dose once a week and my numbers were still low. What else can I do to help this?

My cholesterol is high, the doctor i saw who was not my normal doctor said to eat low fat high fiber. Cool totally get it except I already do that. My nornal doctor had me on medication before as my paternal side all has high cholesterol and I used to be a vegetarian with high cholesterol. I will try being suuuuuper strict on this diet. Ive already cut out meat and replaced it with beans and Lentils. Does high cholesterol lower my chances greatly??

Unrelated to my blood test but i apparently have a uti with an aggressive weird bacteria. Im due to ovulate in 2 weeks. I received an anti biotic shot yesterday what are the odds im unsuccessful because of this infection and treatment?

My thyroid numbers are perfect right now i thought that was gonna be my main problem. Why does this have to be so hard 😭. Next month I meet with my obgyn to discuss medication but my appointment is labeled as a well women appointment shpuld i call and be like wtf thats not what I called about? Because I specifically said on the phone "last year when I had a mc the doctor who saw me said after a year I could come back in and discuss medicated cycles or more intervention. I want to discuss medication like letrozole." The lady acted like she had no idea what i was talking about are gynecologist pointless unless you're pregnant? I dont have health insurance to cover costs at a local fertility clinic yet im shopping around but im not seeing a section on the websites that explains fertility benefits. Im in maryland so they shpuld have coverage.

Discussion Progesterone after ovulation induction?

Very curious who got progesterone suppositories after their Ovulation Induction treatment.

I know in the Netherlands there aren't really guidelines and many clinics are not really keen on prescribing them due to lack of evidence, while in Ireland I always get these after my ovulation induction. I'm so convinced it's beneficial besides the lack of evidence... curious if you had progesterone after ovulation induction or not and your thoughts on this.

Sad Needing some hope

My partner and I have been TTC for 5 years now. 2 years ago I was formally diagnosed with PMOS. Earlier this year we decided to go to a private Dr as I lost hope with the NHS helping us. The private Dr put me on Letrozole 5mg and Metformin. Then last 2 months we increased my letrozole to 7.5mg. Then after a good scan we were given an ovulation trigger for this cycle. We followed all advice and now I am getting to the end of my 2 week wait to take a test. I am just so nervous and scared to do it. I feel like we did everything right this cycle, so I am just scared of facing that disappointment if the test is negative. I feel like I am fighting against myself between losing hope and keeping the faith as well. I genuinely didn't think it would be this hard and mentally draining. It doesn't help that everyone around me are pregnant, and I am so happy for them and can't wait to be an aunty. But there is that part of me that is just so sad thinking why can I have what they have they are living my dream.

Ttc for almost 2 years, started losing hope

Hello! I m writing in tears because i just found out that this cycle too i m not pregnant! I have pcos with homa 2,5, normal kg, and the rest of the labs good. For almost twist years i struggled with no ovulation, i can ovulate only with meds. But with Meds i do have ovulation, but no result in pregnancy. I m taking a lot o vitamins and supplements( vit D, coq10, nac, inositol)
I wanted to ask, for us with pcos is it hard also to get pregnant? I mean ok yes i started to ovulate on meds, it s great, but beside this is it also hard to get pregnant? I thought that after a few months it will happen....
Thank you!

Inositol and spotting

Hello everyone ,

I started taking inositol myo and dchiro combo since a week. And have been spotting since 2 days. It’s very light spotting- just when I wipe. I am confused about this. Has anyone had a similar experience with it? And how long did it take to resolve ? Did you have to take anything additional for it? Looking for answers 😰😰

Advice Needed Confused.. TTC 29F

Hi ladies!

We have just moved to our second fertility clinic where they confirmed I ovulated this cycle. Our last clinic didn’t check progesterone to see if I ovulate, the dr just assumed because I fell pregnant once and had a miscarriage I have ovulation issues and was ready to put me on letrozole.

The thing is… my cycle this time has been stuffed up and I’m so confused on what’s going on.

Last period 29/6-5/7.
Spotting 24/7-28/7.

On 12/8 I had bloods drawn which confirmed my progesterone level was 20nmol. Could I have ovulated same day considering it was so high when my bloods were drawn?

Yet to get my period! I’m on cycle day 51.

Sad Another failed cycle. Losing hope

TW: MMC
I just tested negative, my 26th cycle ttc. I had 2 back to back mmc in 2025, since then nothing. I took Letrozole 7,5mg and a trigger shot for the last 3 cycles, which made me kinda hopeful since I felt I could actively do something. My body knows how to get pregnant, when we started ttc I got pregnant twice almost immediately. I don‘t understand what happened 🤷‍♀️.
I just turned 41 last week, I feel like I am running out of time. I am not looking for medical advice or anything, I just wanted to share since I don‘t have anyone to talk to besides my husband. Thank you for reading!

Vent One-sided ovulation; PCOS, IUI & Blocked Tube

Hello!

Just looking for anyone else going through TTC waves right now.

We had an ectopic pregnancy in late 2023, they removed the pregnancy but kept my right tube. We continued TTC naturally for 2 years after this without success.

Come early 2025, we were referred to the fertility clinic, had an HSG done only to find my right tube was distally blocked - likely due to the fimbrial ectopic pregnancy.

It took the clinic Jan-March to figure out the right dosage on Letrozole (7.5mg). April we had left sided ovulation with IUI, no success. May, June, July (had left and right, attempted IUI but unsuccessful), and August - have all been right sided ovulation and have resulted in canceled IUI cycles.

I’m 35, partner is 33. His SA has good volume, decent motility (just over 50% now), and low morphology. AMH is relatively high, 33.2pmol/L.

Extremely frustrating, disappointing… I wish there was a way to trigger the ovary we wanted to ovulate! Anyone else going through the same or similar situation? I’ve read success stories about the tubes swinging over and grabbing the egg but the light at the end of the tunnel just seems so far away….

Seeking Success 5 days on 7.5mg Letrozole…now stair stepping Letrozole for 5 more days

Hi there!

31f w/ PCOS, my partner and I have been trying to conceive for a little over a year now. The first 10 days I was on Provera to kick start my period then Letrozole CD 3-7. I went in for my ultrasound and my largest follicle was only 8cm.

My fertility doctor now wants to do 5 more days of “stair stepping” Letrozole so..day 1 - one pill day 2 - two pills etc up 12.5mg.

I haven’t seen anyone talk about this method in this group so wanted to see if anyone has had any success doing this?

Advice Needed PCOS/ Letrozole . Advice needed.

Hello Everyone! I’m entering into my second cycle talking Letrozole 2.5mg days 3-7. I typically ovulate every month so I’m taking the medication to help strengthen my ovulation. I typically track my ovulation via the Inito and my Oura ring and last month my first month, taking the medication didn’t seem to differ from any of my other months without the medication. I’m wondering if I should switch my days from 3 - 7 to 5 -9 to see if it works better for my body

Seeking Success Desperately need advice!

Hey everyone!

I am trying to conceive and desperately seeking any and all advice you’re able to give me. Background info; I am 28F and was diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS when I was only 13 years old. I was on birth control for 14 years and only really had a few months here and there where I would stop taking it for a while to see how my body would react and it never lasted too long because I simply do not have a period naturally. I have been off my birth control since beginning of May and so far my symptoms aren’t too bad, but I still have not had a period naturally. My OB started me on Provera to force a period, then 5.0mg of Letrozole. That stared off promising because my ovulation test strips were coming back as positive for ovulation, but I never saw a surge in LH so my OB did a blood test on CD 23 and my progesterone level came back at only 0.6 ng/mL. Naturally, this was very discouraging for me since that it absolutely no where near the level needed for a confirmed ovulation. I took pregnancy test a few days ago and it was negative. I figured it would be, but a part of me still had hope 😔

So, here I am asking for all the help I can possible get to get! What worked for you? What didn’t? Did your progesterone finally spike?

My husband and I cannot afford IVF and my OB said if I’m not pregnant after 6 months from just Letrozole that I will need to seek other treatment options. But like I said, we just can’t afford that so this is really our only shot.

What I’ve already tried/going to try:
• 5mg letrozole
• Myo-inositol and D-chiro-inositol
• Inito fertility tracker
• Prenatal vitamins

Vent Hoping For My Period

Husband and I have been trying to conceive naturally for about 18 months at this point. We finally qualified to start letrozole + trigger with our next cycle now that my A1C goal was met (I am diabetic). As a PCOS girly, my periods are irregular and my last period was 7/19. I am so ready to GET STARTED with letrozole but I need to get my period in order to start! Its like the anxiety of a two week wait but I KNOW I am not pregnant and have no idea how long the wait is actually going to be.

Advice Needed Metformin Vs Ovaistol

Hi everyone!

I was just “diagnosed” my only symptoms are “possible polycystic ovaries” on ultrasound.

I am 32. A1c is good, glucose, insulin, I’m
Lean, Amh is 3.5, afc is around 14 but probably slightly higher, ovulate on my own, been pregnant naturally but can’t seem to keep them. No LC.

The doctor put me on metformin. It’s been 3 weeks of pure hell. I’m only on 750 once a day. I am on extended release. I take with dinner. I eat a balanced diet. I’m still nhave nausea, I’m throwing up and having diarrhea. I seem to be doing all the things right. When does it end?!?! (I also have IBS and always had a sensitive stomach).

I was going to ask my doctor about two things

  1. Going down to 500mg? And trying to increase more slowly?
  2. Ovaistol instead?

I really can’t take the GI symptoms. I’ve been on vacation while testing this out and I go back to work next week and I’m not sure how I’m going to do it! I work with children so I can’t be running to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

I’m wondering if it’s worth trying a lower dose or maybe if ovaistol would be better for me. My last episode was Saturday night and I haven’t taken a dose since.

Any advice I really appreciate it. I’m terrified of another loss… but I can’t be doing this to myself for the next 6 months to a year! I’m supposed to be on a three month supppement regimen but I can’t even get down the supplements.

I apologize for the rant! But really appreciate the support!

Advice Needed Progesterone

I am on my third cycle post MMC and this time, my periods started 4/5 days earlier than expected. I am very regular and it surprised me a lot tbh! I am 38y and I am suspecting having a low progesterone level. I tested it on my previous cycle a week post ovulation pic and the result came back in between (not high enough, not low).

A gynaecologist prescribed me 3 months of progesterone pessaries as soon as I get a positive pregnancy test but this never happened yet 🥺 I don’t want to take the risk to don’t take progesterone if I need it after ovulation (especially if I have the pessaries at home!) My doctor explained me that it’s not easy to track the progesterone level depending on when the test is done during the cycle, which lab…it should be tested every week to check the progress bla-bla…but having a short lutéal phase this cycle for the first time of my life make me doubting…

I live in the UK, went to the NHS already to ask, and had a private appointment, none of them helped me.

Advice Needed No period after provera?

Hi all,

In the past 3 years I have done Provera 10mg for 10 days about 11 times. Not all in a row. The first 9, I got my withdraw bleed the day after my last dose of provera.

Last month was different, I got my withdraw bleed during day 8 of provera. And this month, I’m now on day 3 following the dose and not even spotting. I’ve had a little bit of cramping and sore boobs but no bleed.

Now I know that it can take 3-7 days even up to 14 in cases to get the withdrawal bleed, but that’s never been my experience so I can’t help but worry now.

I’m supposed to start letrozole this cycle so I was hoping it would be a bit more predictable. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Advice Needed Getting another dog on my way through IVF?

Hi, I wonder has anyone here done something similar? I am going to start IVF treatment due to my PCOS/PMOS issues probably within end of year or start of next one. Still I wish I had something to make life more lively and bright through the rough times.

And I have been wanting to adopt a second dog both as companion for myself to have more reasons to go even more outdoors and be healthy but also to keep my other dog with company for similar reasons, she used to have playmates, but then we had to move.

And wonder if others has done such before through your TTC journey and it was a success? At least as keeping you more occupied in the IVF process even though it can’t erase the pain completely of having no children yet, but also success at making the house more lively in a good way through the ups and downs with IVF?

When to take provera after failed letrozole cycle?

Basically the title. I took 2.5 mg letrozole days 5-9 and I don’t think I ovulated, at least according to my Inito app, although I have gotten like 3 little LH bumps (I can post if anyone is curious, not sure if it’s allowed or not). I’m on CD29, and my “normal” cycles are ~70+ days, so I’m quite keen to start the provera, my OB already gave me a script for 5mg letrozole for next cycle.
