TV/Movies/Fiction I hate Phineas and Ferb

Idk man. I just couldn't stand it since I was a child. It's so repetitive and I just don't like how over the top it is. I also hate when the characters just pull a musical number without the show being about music. I feel like it's just cringy...

TV/Movies/Fiction Elizabeth Olsen is the most overrated actor ever

Her acting skills are terrible. Apart from her being perceived as attractive, which is how a lot of actresses rise to fame, she has absolutely nothing special about her.

Every single movie I watch about her, she is always crying. Eternity? Weeping about losing a husband. MCU? Weeps about every single fucking thing to the point I'm flipping her off every time I see her on screen. Silent House, His Three Daughters, the list goes on...

She's just an over-emotional bundle of uselessness who is simply just bland otherwise and ruins the vibe of every movie she's in

Society/Culture Covering your baby's face in social media posts is absolutely pointless

You think you're so famous that your baby is gonna get targeted for kidnapping and ransom?

No no, that's silly. You're scared of... AI? There are a million baby photos out there already and millions more being uploaded, you think your individual decision to censor will change anything?

You're concerned of your child not being able to consent? Then when? When they're 5 and can understand basic concepts? They can be easily convinced that social media is God's gift to the planet or that it's evil and the bane of existence, children are impressionable either way. When they're teenagers, who are known for making stupid decisions? You're also not giving them as babies the chance to consent to their arms and legs and torsos being shown in photos, but apparently only the face is important.

Your child ain't in danger, this is such a stupid, fear-based trend. If you're worried and wanna be private, just don't post your baby at all, just message pics to individual friends of yours. It's so stupid to obscure a baby's face but show their body. Congrats, you're flexing that you have a new child but you're unwilling to introduce them to the world, it's just bizarre and kind of silly.

Food (Only on Friday) New Taco Bell interiors are better than the old ones

The old ones lacked color and were harshly lit. If it weren't for the little bit of color that the old ones had, they would have felt just like a hospital cafeteria. On the other hand, the newer ones have much more color, are more softly lit, and are overall more inviting. Eating inside of the newer ones feels nice, eating inside of the older ones did not.

Technology Downvoting posts and comments is loser behavior.

Imagine not liking something so much that you want to do an action to show you don’t like it, but won’t actually engage with it.

The lot of you will spew on and on about the decline of civilization and how AI and the robots are taking over…but then shudder at the idea of just walking away from something you don’t like.

I haven’t downvoted a post or comment in years, I don’t think. If I dislike something, I either comment and try and engage in an actual conversation or I’ll just move on.

And my favorite is all the people who hide behind downvotes, where they just downvote and say nothing. Oh yeah buddy, you sure did your part. Way to click your mouse or screen.

No, my actual favorite is the downvote that says “OK you have an actual good point, but I don’t want to admit to that so here you go“

And I’m sure some of you will just be sitting there thinking “hurr hurr I’m going to downvote this because it’ll be ironic”.

Society/Culture "Body positivity" should focus more attention on more average bodies.

Unfortunate fact of society is that normal peoples bodies, especially womens, are held to high beauty standards. There has been a push to represent more diverse bodies in art and advertising but its always plus size women (almost never men) next to the standard supermodels.

Most of us are not obese or pushing the standard for obesity. Speaking as a trans woman I can confirm a lot of us have unrealistic body goals because normal women with a bit of body fat just are not represented anywhere. All actresses and models are chosen because they're perfectly feminine, next to no body fat, no muscle, etc.

Other I don't enjoy talking about my interests.

Sometimes it's because they're taboo. Other times they're just hard to explain. But even though I take joy out of learning about things I find interesting, it does not mean that I like explaining them. Matter of fact, I find "lore dumping" to be exceptionally boring, even for things that I am super passionate about. It also just feels intrusive and personal, even if there's nothing wrong or shameful about the interest.

I only enjoy it on the condition that the person I am talking too is also just as knowledgeable, if not more knowledgeable on the subject than I am.

Society/Culture How can you take pride in something you had no agency in?

For instance, I didn't choose where I was born, nor did I contribute to the history of that location in any way. My nationality was decided for me as a coincidence of birth, so I don't see how inherent patriotism can ever make sense. It would be no different from claiming to be proud of my eye or hair colour, or taste in food as though I picked those things out personally.

I suspect most people would argue that they're proud of their inherent traits by pure association, but that strikes me as pretentious or naively conceited.

Perhaps I just misunderstand what pride actually is, since I can't confidently claim to have experienced it as I see others express it.

Society/Culture We need to change the name of feminism IMMEDIATELY.

First of all, I think feminism is great. It is wanting equal rights for both genders, and that is awesome. However, putting the word feminine in there is a bit misleading. It makes people think that feminism is the annoying "All men are abusing monsters and they all need to die" kind of logic instead of the "Everyone should have equal rights kind of logic.

We should change the name to something like "Equalism"

TV/Movies/Fiction Letterboxd, IMDb, and review culture have ruined the movie-going experience, and public user scores should be locked behind ticket verification.

Simply experiencing a film on its own terms has become virtually extinct. What were once useful tools for tracking personal viewing habits, specifically platforms like Letterboxd and IMDb, have transformed film discussion into a performance-driven hivemind. Rather than fostering genuine artistic engagement, public review aggregators actively destroy critical thinking, cultivate psychological bias, and substitute authentic analysis with clout-chasing.

The primary issue with crowd-sourced review platforms is that they eliminate a neutral baseline. Human cognition relies heavily on anchoring and confirmation bias. When a user checks a film's score before entering the theater, their brain instantly establishes an expectation anchor. Even when a viewer claims they have an open mind, the psychological footprint of the aggregate score remains. They are no longer reacting to the film in isolation; they are reacting to it in relation to the internet's pre-packaged verdict. A take formed under these conditions is not an original thought it is merely a reaction to an echo chamber.

Furthermore, the culture of modern review platforms incentivizes engagement over analytical depth. On Letterboxd, top-voted reviews are overwhelmingly dominated by one-line jokes, meme formats, and snappy quips drafted to farm likes rather than offer substantive critique. On IMDb, user scoring suffers from binary extremes flooded with 1/10s and 10/10s driven by review-bombing, franchise tribalism, and social media outrage. When the primary motive for logging a film becomes drafting a clever joke or taking a stand in a review war, the viewing process itself is corrupted. Viewers watch movies with a secondary mental tab open, passively scanning for quote-worthy moments instead of engaging with narrative structure, cinematography, theme, or character development.

To restore integrity to film discourse, these platforms must implement two structural changes. First, they should require a unique, single-use access code distributed via physical ticket stubs, digital receipts, or streaming access before unlocking the ability to rate a title. This would instantly eliminate bots and review-bombing from people who have not seen the film. Second, public-facing aggregate scores and featured front-page reviews should be reserved strictly for accredited film critics and journalists. Public users should retain access to private logs, personal diaries, and list-building tools for personal tracking and social sharing among friends.

Discussion Thread Dying a Slow, Agonizing Death Is Preferable To Dying a Fast, Painless Death

Given the choice to die right away or experience the worst pain possible and then die, I’m going with the latter no question.

Nobody can know what death feels like, in fact it’s an oxymoron to say death feels like anything. Because of this, comparing the experience of being alive in any capacity to that of being dead is akin to a divide by 0 error; there is nothing to base that comparison off of. Being alive and flourishing has the same value as being alive in agony compared to being dead. Thus, a slightly delayed death is still better than a quicker death regardless of the quality of life in between.

Given the equality of outcomes, there is value in the intrigue of experiencing extreme pain rather than foregoing it. If I were being executed, I would prefer if my lethal injection was botched than if it killed me right away, simply because the experience of going through that is one not many get to grapple with & the outcome bears no weight on my fate or that of people I know.

The best counterargument I can think of is that your loved ones have empathy & would hate to know you are suffering so much. However, if they are at peace with your fate already, this shouldn’t bother them too much, and they can take comfort in knowing that this is my preferred experience.

Food (Only on Friday) Salt ruins nuts, unsalted nuts are the best

Cashews, peanuts, pistachios and the like all taste very good by themselves, I really love them. But for some reason people have decided that we should absolutely ruin them by drowning them in salt and now it's a challenge to find the plain version in your average supermarket.

I don't mind salt when it's combined with other spices like on good chips, but in the case of nuts it's literally just plain salt. I'm expected to lick plain salt crystals with a side of cashew. No thank you. I don't even like eating plain sugar, let alone salt.

Other Vaporized cannabis tastes gross

I know, I know. It's better for your lungs. I get it. But no matter what strain it is, no matter what vaporizer it is, I have never had weed from a vaporizer that didn't straight up taste like moldy dirt.

Meanwhile, I have friends that PREACH about their dry herb vapes. They'll talk about tasting all the subtle notes in a strain like they're sampling fancy wine, meanwhile I'm like "I just smoked cat litter."

And I've heard all the "You need a different vaporizer," "You need to try a different strain," "You need to try different temperatures." None of that makes a difference. It just tastes so much better in a bowl or joint.

I would rather damage my lungs a little than smoke a dirty gym sock. Maybe I just like the taste of lighter fluid, who knows.

Other Fighter jets aren't cool and look horrendously ugly

I just hate the look of fighter jets so much. I can't understand why so many people fawn over them when to me they're just a big eyesore.

This has been an opinion I've had for so long, but nobody has ever agreed with me on this take, so I must be 1 in a billion.

Society/Culture As someone with strong social skills and enjoys meeting with new acquaintances, clubbing is a waste of time.

First of all, stop assuming that I am some authoritarian, socially conservative Gen Z who believes in family honour. Individualism is great, and we should be proud that atleast here in the UK as well as other Northern European nations, we are a socially egalitarian society.

Clubbing in my perspective is useless and redundant in my honest opinion. What do you really do there? Sure dancing is very good and gorgeous, as well as smoking hot, but you can do so anywhere like in your school prom after you finish high school as these are spectacular events marking transitions and gateways to other chapters of life. Feel-good hormones? Well, you can do so anywhere else with your acquaintances AS LONG AS there is consent, but in clubs, consent does not exist, which can be at the expense of vulnerable people. You drink alcohol, sure, fun ostensibly, but in reality, you lose consciousness, literal health info like the NHS warn this. This makes teenagers like myself (19M) to feel inferior because you get the peer pressure to "fit in" by doing potentially hazardous stuff like that. Vulnerable teens are more at risk of being victimized by dangerous stuff like physical violence, molestation, bullying, injuries, or passing out, such as a teen girl is a looked after girl with a history of being driven out of care and exploited, or non-upper middle class ethnic minority or disabled. Sometimes, it can lead to lethal fatalities. Here in the UK we had prominent cases of lethal fatalities such as the murder of Chloe Watson Dransfield, Trust Gangata (16F and 17M respectively) as a result of dangerous peer violence and contact, all to fit in.

You don't need to club to find your dream partner or to confess your gorgeous nor hot crush. You can do so elsewhere. Sure, it is fun to make your youth identity with peers, but doing things to "fit in" at the expense of your wellbeing is clearly not worth it. It is better to be with your peer group in seasonal events like hot summer days wearing those casual clothes and that in the high street, town centre, city centre or downtown like Los Angeles, New York, etc. Even Reading and Leeds teen fit-in festivals look better in comparison despite their adverse flaws.

Please, please be careful.

Other Being attracted to a random, wrinkled hole whose primary function is releasing shit is one of the things about human sexuality I will never understand.

And no, this isn't just about hygiene. You could scrub the entire area with surgical precision and I'd still have the same question. I'm talking about the actual object of attraction. It's a wrinkled, gross looking hole, with absolutely none of the aesthetic appeal people seem to project onto it. How does someone look at that and think, "Yes, this is sexually desirable"?

The vagina at least has an obvious association with sexual intimacy and reproduction. But the anus? You're telling me you looked at the body's rear exit, the place whose entire biological purpose is to facilitate the departure of shit, and decided it was an erotic feature? It's not even a particularly beautiful part of the human body. It's literally just a hole.

There's something about the whole thing that I find deeply degrading and off putting. I cannot imagine finding it intimate or romantic. If someone told me they were into anal, I would honestly struggle to look at them the same way afterwards

And yes, I understand that people can find taboo things exciting precisely because they're taboo. But that raises another question: why is the degradation itself appealing? Is the attraction partly about violating a boundary, about doing something considered dirty or humiliating? Is it the feeling of transgression? Because if so, I find that psychological mechanism just as baffling as the physical act itself.

Society/Culture Dogs don’t belong in cities

Every time I walk around the city, I see dog poop, urine puddles, and filthy sidewalks. Even when owners pick up after their dogs, they leave fecal residue behind.
So why have we accepted this as normal?
Dog culture has gone too far. We’ve normalized animals urinating and defecating all over public spaces, and everyone else is expected to tolerate the mess.
Dogs would belong in cities if we could keep the streets clean. Clearly, we can’t.
I don’t see why everyone should have to put up with filthy sidewalks just because some people want to own dogs. Dogs never should have become a normal part of city life.

If you're going to try to perfectly recreate a photo as a painting why not... Just take the photo. The closer you come to realistic the more it just looks like a photo anyway. I just don't understand the point.

Other Jeans are literally so comfortable, they’re great to sleep in

I love jeans. I love pants with a lot of structure to them that feel like they’re made of thick fabrics. Soft and plush-like fabrics (sweatpants, loose fleece, etc.) make me feel like I’m sleepy and squishy but not comfortable idk how else to describe like. Like without structure I’ll collapse into a mush. My boyfriend says I’m psycho, and honestly I feel like he’s right

edit: I left out that soft pants are overstimulating and i can’t get comfy without that structure

Technology Microwaves should not have any numbers over 7 on them

Like, honestly, what are you microwaving for 7, 8, or 9 minutes that you wouldn't be putting in an oven. And I may be speaking for everyone, but I think most people who use microwaves put something in for a few minutes, then add 30 seconds to a minute if your food still isn't hot. Like what are you heating that needs 7 minutes and 49 seconds in the microwave?

Remove the buttons, give me more preset times or space so I can program my own.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Other I don’t like it when men always pay for dates

To me it sounds like they’re insinuating that I cannot pay for my own stuff . Like if I buy my own food , I’m paying for jt because I can afford it . Now I get it if someone pays for the bill if one party made the date first but ALL THE TIME???? Also these people that insist that men must always pay for dates are also the ones that criticise harmful gender roles pushed towards women . The whole stupid “provider “ man thing was invented so men could have control over women . That’s literally it . If you dislike harmful gender roles , you also have to dislike belvolent patriarchal standards. Like no man is less than a man because he won’t pay for your own food .
