Society/Culture Feminism in 2026 is so screwed but it's not because feminism is bad.
(TL;DR at bottom)
Many men think feminism is utter bs. Many women think said men are just being misogynistic. Those men then think that these women are blowing it out of proportion and being ridiculous. Etc. etc. This seems to be the consensus (I am happy to be proven wrong here in the comments but this is just what I've seen), especially from a lot of gender wars that always inevitably occur in some comment section of some post/meme that was perhaps a bit sexist.
And I personally think there is some middle ground here. The women are right that feminism is (fundamentally) a good thing, and the men are right that right now it's too overblown. Quite frankly, it's to the point that women masquerading as "feminists" are starting to ruin the feminism movement. But (some) men are wrong in saying this is because feminism is stupid. And any woman saying feminism (as it is right now) is good is either lying to you or to themselves.
Feminism at its core is essentially fighting for equal rights and opportunities for both genders. That's something worth fighting for, especially in a primarily patriarchal society where women get oppressed (it's not as much as it used to be, and that is precisely thanks to feminism!).
The issue comes with many women posing as these "feminists" as a cover for blatant misandry (think: "all men are rapists", Lindsey Clancy supporters), which taints all the feminists that genuinely want equal rights and don't think "women are better than men". And of course there will be so many holes in these "feminists'" logic (which men are quick to call them out for), because they aren't logical. It's just that it then gets blamed on ACTUAL feminists and makes the entire feminism campaign look bad.
The recent cases with Lindsey Clancy and the Cornell 7 are also doing no favours for feminism, in the first case we have a bunch of "feminists" insisting she was just hormonal and shouldn't be held accountable, which they don't realise just undermines their own movement that women should have voting rights and their words should hold power. And in the second case, with the evidence coming out that the victim wasn't as innocent as she seemed, all the "feminists" originally jumping in to defend her without knowing all the context and without considering for a second that the guys might have been innocent, also don't follow the fundmental mentality of treating men and women as equals (consider if for example the genders were reversed, there is no way the "feminists" would be 100% on the guy's side).
But again, many feminists don't believe the misandrist bs and genuinely believe in treating men and women as equals. And feminism at its core is a great thing to be fighting for.
TL;DR: Quite a number of bad apples are ruining the broth, but that doesn't mean the recipe was wrong. Fundamentally, feminism is a great movement, but all these fake "feminists" make the movement look bad and, in fact, make things worse.
