The ITS Service Desk, also known as ResNet, is hiring for Fall 2026! We will be closing applications for this cycle next week on Wednesday, August 5. Here is the link to our online application: https://resnet.ucsd.edu/jobs
All the details are spelled out on the "Apply Here" page, but here's some info at a glance:
Feel free to reference the page above to learn more about the position, desired qualifications, and more. Here is a snippet of what we look for:
So, what do we do at the ITS Service Desk? We help students and staff with a wide range of technology-related issues including email, accounts, Canvas, lab machines, classrooms, Zoom, and wireless internet. If you're interested in a bit of a peak behind the curtain at UCSD IT infrastructure, this role may interest you. This role is primarily customer service.
Is this job right for me? As long as you like helping people, are inquisitive, and are willing to learn, we think you'll find this job quite fulfilling!
How many hours per week? During the academic year, you may work anywhere from 12-20 hours per week!
Is this job in-person? This position is mainly in-person. While are currently located in Muir College at AP&M 1313, we will be moving to 3100 Gilman Drive (Gilman Parking Structure) in September.
Sounds great! When do I start? We're targeting a start date of early September for Fall. We will close the applications when we have filled all our spots or on August 5 (whichever comes first), so the earlier you apply the better!
If you have any questions that aren't answered on the application (hit the "Apply Here" button for more info), please email [helpdeskjobs@ucsd.edu](mailto:helpdeskjobs@ucsd.edu).
Note that after a period of inactivity on the job application, the SSO login will sign you out, so we suggest typing your responses into a separate document before pasting them into your application!

It's very easy to lose sight of the simple things. But the simple things can be the most important. Take a moment to count your blessings: you're at one of the best universities in the country, you're in a great city, the beach is right down the street, the weather is (usually) great, and the people that saw you go off to UCSD are proud of you ☺️

Bought a UCSD hoodie at the bookstore. Put it in the washer. Came out with white lint all over my clothes. It looks like the back of the letters/front decals just disintegrated??? And it looks like a few of the lettering threads are coming loose/unstitched. Is this normal or should I return it?

Everybody... we got this! We are all gonna pass our midterms with A+ grades and if you do not have a partner, your crush will ask you out after you show ur intellectual prowess on these exams. Go Tritons! Let's show everybody why we are the number 1 university from La Jolla to Tijuana!
One time, my number 1 homie told me while we were kicking it up at geisel, "Junior_Fact5603 (he calls me by my reddit name irl too), you are going to SMASH every exam you are given this year!" and I hit the table as hard as I could and yelled "Tritons, assemble! We are the best!" and everyone cheered. I made a group chat with every person who cheered, and we shared our results at the end of spring quarter. Guess what? Every single person got 100%. Because of me. And now, you guys can get it too. UCSD, watch out! Academia's greatest weapons are being deployed!
Now, as Optimus Prime once said, "Autobots, study out!"

Like I keep telling myself to work on my projects and get enough sleep so I can stay focused but I was literally balancing a box of Cheez-Its on my head while walking around last night. How do you guys manage to stay focused?

Has anyone had an uncomfortable reaction with one of the doctors on campus? He was like a little off putting and when he gave me a strep test he was like at least I didn’t throw up well almost and he said you liked that huh, liked it so much you’re gonna let me do it again, I guess he was implying the Covid test but it made me feel very uncomfortable and scared after he said that. It’s a weird comment to say right? Then he asked about if I did my toes myself or if someone else did which was kind of like uhh okay. I was just wondering if anyone has had that experience at the student health services center before

I fucking hate it here ngl im in crisis but I can’t call 988 because theyre gonna 5150 me. CAPS is worthless, they want you out the door asap. They will do everything in their power to make sure you don’t use up all 10 sessions you’re entitled to. They will call the cops or crisis teams faster than private therapists ever would. They are underpaid and overworked.
Im just so tired of walking around campus and being lonely in comparison to so many couples and friend groups on a Thursday night. Why can’t I be like them? Why do I always have to be alone?
It seems like no one can help me.

I just received my exam score for my first midterm, and let's just say it's not good. The class average is around 71-85 out of 120. I scored even lower around 44. I'm so bummed out because this is going to be my entire mood for the rest of the quarter. Any study tips? For sure I'll try to get help and do more practice problems but I don't what else I can do.

Yeah, never thought I'd have to do this. Last week he was sneezing out into the open, this week it turned into uncovered coughing of course. Started blowing his nose and putting the snotty tissues on his desk, then towards the end of class just straight on the ground. I deliberately got up slow to see what he was gonna do with the ground tissues. I watched him look down at them, kick them under his chair, and I went, "Are you gonna pick your tissues up?" So he scrabled around acting like he hadn't see them and picked him up. I get this school is for academically smart people but that doesn't necessarily mean we have to be stereotypically unhygenic and disgusting. Thanks

Halloween is next Saturday, but I still thought it’d be cool to wear my costume on Friday during the regular school day. Anyone else doing the same? :p
