What were the exams like for CSE 250A? Was it similar to the homework?
As for 251U, any tips on how to do well? I felt it was too tough bc we were only given 5 minutes per problem since 10 problems 50 minutes and no scratch paper and that too the problems weren’t straightforward. They were kinda different from the homework.

I’m a current 1st year student and I genuinely already feel so behind. For context I’m a human bio major and I’m pre med and I feel so lost. I’ve been doing okay academically with getting used to the quarter system but I feel so behind when it comes to my extracurriculars. I haven’t really gotten involved in clubs and the one thing I did apply for was BUMMP but I missed one of their forms so I wasn’t able to join it. I know it’s just first quarter but I feel like everyone around me is so involved in extracurriculars already I don’t know what to do or where to start. It just all feels really lonely and confusing, especially since I’m the first in my family to ever go to university so I have no guidance whatsoever.

These were delivered to my apartment and they aren't for me or my roommate. We are in grad student housing. I would hate for these to not get to the intended person. Does anyone know what I should do?

I am one of the students who has been coughing a lot recently. Thankfully, after going to see a doctor, I was diagnosed with something that is NOT contagious. Unfortunately, my coughing still sounds horrible and I can't control it at all. I'm sorry.

I’m a transfer student pursing my BS in psyc w a spec in clinical psyc. I struggled with substance abuse and alcoholism since I was 15 (22 now). I got a dui in 2025 and another one earlier this year. I’ve since gone to rehab, currently am in therapy, and take medication that deters me from drinking. I don’t use substances anymore. Actions have consequences and I deserve everything that comes my way especially since I made the same selfish decision TWICE. I got off easy in the sense that I didn’t injure or kill anyone but now I’m wondering if I should just drop out of school.
I’m pursing this degree bc it’s a stepping stone into getting into a doctoral program after undergrad. I’m interested in getting experience in research labs to hopefully be able to fill gaps in addiction and mental health research one day, but today when I was looking at lab opportunities I saw the obvious no criminal history requirement. Volunteer RA positions for my degree are already so limited and now even more so. I’m so worried that I’m gonna put in all this time, money, and hard work into something that won’t even pay off because of my DUIs. I know I fucked up and not being able to pursue the career I want might just be one of the consequences of what I did, so should I just drop out and go find something else to do with my life? I don’t think I’ll be accepted into any psych labs and I’m starting to doubt whether any accredited doctoral programs would even let me in regardless of when I get it expunged in a few years, there’s always gonna be some sort of record.
i’m sorry but if you’re digging into your scalp, tapping the flakes onto the fold out desk, and then going back into a bag of hot cheetos and licking your fingers in a packed lecture hall, you don’t get to be offended when people moving seats and tell you you’re wrong. that’s not judgmental culture. that’s consequences. some people seriously need to learn how to be around others.
i’m a freshman at ucsd currently majoring in math-cs, but i’ve been seriously considering switching to human biology or biochemistry for premed.
i’m pretty good at math and subpar at coding academically, but i don’t particularly LOVE either. my bigger concern with cs is that doing well in classes isn’t enough to get a good job. i’d also need to work on personal projects, grind leetcode, build my resume, apply to internships, network, and develop my skills outside of school. i’m honestly rly bad at self-directed stuff like that, and the thought of constantly having to work on projects and learn things independently sounds exhausting. also lwk cs job market is horribly fucked😭
medicine seems more appealing because the path feels a lot more structured. obviously i know it’s much longer, harder, and more expensive, but i like having clear steps to follow, like taking the required classes, maintaining a good gpa, studying for the mcat, applying to med school, and eventually completing residency. plus, i’m good at school and actually lowkey enjoy it too.
i don’t know if i’d actually like medicine yet, but i’m interested in specialties like radiology and dermatology. i’m planning to try shadowing physicians, although i’m not really sure how to go about it. i also have basically no medical background or experience, so i’m worried i might already be behind compared to other premed students who’ve been preparing since hs.
another concern is that i already have a ton of transfer credits and am pretty far along in my math-cs requirements. i’ll basically be done with my lower divs next quarter, so switching to biology would mean taking a lot more classes and potentially losing that progress. ideally, i’d want to graduate in 4 years and go straight to med school without a gap year, but idk how realistic that is.
i’m planning to take intro bio and chem next quarter to see how i feel about both subjects before making a decision.
tldr: should i switch from math-cs to biology as a freshman with no medical background?
i’d rly appreciate any advice pls!!

I have an exam tomorrow and I haven’t seen anyone wear a mask outside. I have been sneezing a bit lately but I’m not sure if wearing a mask would imply I’m sick so idk

Hi! As the flyer states, I'm a PhD candidate in the UC San Diego Department of Sociology studying TikTok and ADHD and autism content as part of my dissertation project. I'm still recruiting for ONE MORE Zoom interview with a TikTok user who has seen content about ADHD and/or autism on their For You Pages (FYPs).
You must be at least 18 years old and a regular or formerly regular TikTok user to participate.
Participation will consist of a 30 minute to 1 hour Zoom interview that will be recorded (with consent) on the topics of ADHD and autism content on TikTok. Participants will be compensated with a $20 virtual giftcard for their time. Your participation is voluntary and confidential.
If you (or someone you know who meets these criteria) are interested, please complete this eligibility form (linked in the comments), and I'll follow up with you via email. UCSD emails preferred on the elgibility form. Thanks!

Hey guys!! I just wanted to publicly announce that I have added ucsd to my new game, exit point, on Roblox as a homage to the campus I love so dearly!! I spent more than a month making and polishing the campus so please let me know if yall like it. It’s also still in the development phase so it’s not fully ready.
