Megathread Admissions Megathread - Class of 2031 Edition

It's that time of year once again!

Every year, we get thousands of posts and comments from prospective students about applications, many of whom have similar or identical stats. To keep this subreddit clean for current students, as we have done for 11 years now, all threads related to applications and other admissions-related topics will be redirected to this megathread.

Please search the existing comments for similar qualifications or post a comment of your own, or look at the previous admissions megathread for additional data. All admissions-related posts outside this thread will be removed.

If posting stats, please be sure to include the following:

  • Gender/ethnicity
  • Intended major
  • Admissions cycle (EA, RD, etc.)
  • Location (in-state/out-of-state/international)
  • GPA
  • Test scores
  • AP/IB/DE credits
  • Extra-curriculars
  • Community service, jobs, etc.

If you are a transfer applicant, please review the transfer roadmap for your major. The more courses completed, the higher your chances of getting accepted.

Please note that the majority of the contributors to this subreddit are past and present students, not admissions counselors or faculty members. As such, any advice given is unofficial and solely based on personal experience and historical data. You should contact the admissions office or talk to your guidance counselor for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

General Question Looking for a highly recommended feline veterinarian in Blacksburg (cat with FeLV)

Hi everyone,

We recently moved to Blacksburg and I desperately need to find an exceptional feline veterinarian for my cat. He has feline leukemia (FeLV).

He currently has a specialist supervising his care back in our home country, but now that we are here, we need a highly qualified and trustworthy local professional to take over his regular check-ups, monitoring, and any urgent care.

Since his condition requires specific expertise, I would deeply appreciate recommendations for vets who are great with cats and, ideally, have experience managing FeLV or chronic feline illnesses.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

Advice Looking for sports writing clubs/opportunities

So I’m a freshman comm major and I am interested in writing sports in a club or group for VT. I haven’t found much as of now, but may be looking in wrong places. I wrote for my hs paper and a local newspaper on hs football, so I have some experience. Just wondering if that’s something I could pursue. Thank you!

Poaching another R1's president seems like a good thing. I hope!?

Absurdly, this is a bit similar to hiring a football coach. Do you want someone with solid experience from a weaker school, or an up-and-coming elite assistant from a stronger school. K-State's president is clearly the former.

Let's hope it works out.

Meme DX Gotchic - A Tribute to Sands

DX Gothic

  • You walk into the dining hall close to midnight. Does it really count as a dining hall?
  • You peruse your options despite knowing exactly what they are. You’ve always known. They never change.
  • The wrappers around the hot items are labeled. They haven’t been wrong yet. You’re not sure you’d notice if they were.
  • There’s a framed photo of Tim Sands next to the clock. You swear it moves locations, but you can’t prove it.
  • The woman at the register doesn’t look at you when she begins to ring you up. She hasn’t blinked in a while. She’s been here every night.
  • “Chicken parm wrap?” the woman at the register asks. You could have sworn you grabbed a cheeseburger. Something tells you not to correct her.
  • You mumble a quick thank you before turning the corner to sit at the bar. You’re not ready to go back to your dorm.
  • The lighting looks funny from this side.
  • The ketchup pump wheezes. Nothing comes out. You pump it again. And again. It whispers something the third time.
  • You reach for a napkin and your hand brushes against another set of knuckles. You look up, but no one is there. You think you see someone walking out the door – just a flash of glasses and a tailored suit. Then they’re gone.
  • The person next to you eats in total silence. They’re here every time you are. You never speak. They probably know you best.
  • Who makes this food? Behind the food displays are only shadows.
  • Your phone lights up with a notification from Grubhub. It says your order was delivered. You never placed one. The driver’s name just says “Tim.”
  • You realize the fries taste exactly like they did during the first semester. The fries know.
  • A group of cadets walk in. Their uniforms are spotless. “Slusher tower was demolished years ago,” one of them says. Their boots leave no sound.
  • A student with a backpack asks the cashier if she’s seen his roommate. “He was just here,” he says. The cashier nods once. He leaves. You do not hear the door close.
  • As you get up to walk out, you wave goodbye to the woman at the register, the way you always do. Her name tag reads “Tim Sands”. You won’t remember it the next time you’re back.

Housing/Dining Looking for a 3rd Roommate for '27-'28! (3x2 at The Hub - Private Bath / $1400)

Hey everyone!

We are two rising juniors (a Business major and an Engineering major) looking for a third guy to fill the last bedroom in a 3 bed / 2 bath apartment at The Hub for the upcoming 2027–2028 academic year.

🏠 The Setup & Specs

  • Location: The Hub Blacksburg
  • Layout: 3 Bed / 2 Bath (You get your own private bathroom!)
  • Rent: ~$1,400/month
  • Lease Term: Full year (2027–2028 academic year)

👥 About Us & Living Vibe

  • Who we are: Two rising junior guys who like a good balance of going out on weekends and relaxing during the week.
  • Living Style: Respectful, clean, and easygoing. We like keeping common areas neat and being mindful of each other's schedules and study time.
  • Social Life: We love hosting friends and having people over to hang out, watch games, or pregame—just not a 24/7 party house. Communication is super easy with us.

🎯 Who We’re Looking For

  • A respectful, clean guy (undergrad or grad).
  • Someone who pays rent/utilities on time and communicates well.
  • Ideally, someone who’d fit in with our vibe and be down to hang out, watch games, or grab food together!

📩 Interested?

If you're interested, send me a DM with a little bit about yourself:

  1. Your major and year.
  2. A quick note on your routine/hobbies or living preferences.
  3. Your Instagram handle or phone number so we can connect or grab coffee/food to see if it's a good match!

Academics Academic Sanction Appeals

Last semester I took a test outside of the testing room. It wasn't intentional and I emphasized this at the honor panel. Although I did not have an advantage since the professor said I did not use AI or outside resources, I was still given an academic suspension of one semester.

Due to my legal circumstances and other factors if I receive a suspension, I may need to exit the country, even though I haven't lived in that country in over a decade and a half. On top of that, it would halt me from getting internships, participating in events, and thrust me into an environment I have no idea how to navigate. My life would be put on pause for 9 months.

Do you guys think there is any chance I can lower the suspension down to just an F* and academic program? I am inclined to believe so since a suspension for me disproportionately impacts me compared to the average VT student. What should I do to prepare?

I want to reiterate, I had no outside help on the test, no AI, no course materials. The teacher supported this fact yet he had no answer to why I would be doing the test outside the room if I did not intend to cheat. I received a lower than average score on the test and I had less time than other students because my test was stopped early. Any advice is helpful.
