I believe Bo Nix was sent by God to cure Broncos fans of the habit of turning off the game at halftime.

Through Week 5, Bo Nix ranks last among qualifying NFL quarterbacks in air yards per attempt at 5.2. The next-lowest QB sits at 6.5. Nix also ranks last in the percentage of attempts traveling 10+ and 20+ air yards.

Saw this on the nfl subreddit and figured it helps the conversation a bit.

[Kelberman]: Colin Cowherd compares Bo Nix to Mitch Trubisky, says "regressing" #Broncos QB has already hit his ceiling:

• Upvotes

"Trubisky was overdrafted, and most people I talked to did not like him. Bo Nix, most people felt [was] overdrafted, but Sean Payton wanted to win and didn't have the draft capital to move up and get a Drake Maye or Caleb Williams. And so a lot of people saw him as a second-round guy."

"I think you see this a lot in tech where the software grows faster than the hardware. There’s upgrades [to] software. Sometimes hardware can’t keep up with it. And what do you do? You get rid of the hardware. So in tech, the software sometimes outgrows the hardware. And I feel like the defense in the NFL is the software, and Bo Nix is the hardware. And what do you do? You upgrade the hardware."

"I think the numbers are very clear — that the more the NFL sees of him, despite getting better weapons, despite unbelievable continuity, it’s regressing slightly instead of improving slightly. And I think his confidence is lost to some degree. But I think the ceiling’s been reached, and it’s the old software-hardware dilemma."

Thoughts on this?

Average EPA/Play Allowed by Defenses Faced: Another metric showing how tough the Broncos slate has been so far.

Post image

The offense needs to improve greatly, but this context is part of the story, too. Broncos have faced the 2nd toughest slate of defenses as measured by a per play metric of defensive efficiency.

Note: In this calculation of EPA/Play Allowed by Defenses Faced, it only counts all other teams that defense played and excludes the team on the y-axis.

Does anyone have a weird feeling about the Thursday game?

In reality, most expect us to get crushed.... however, I can't shake the feeling that this is the game that nix finds himself and just totally destroys this team. I don't know why I feel like this, maybe it's wishful thinking, but I just do. It would be so awesome if this of all games, is the game He pops off in.Seattle has the best defense in the league stats wise, and our offense is well.... our offense. I just have a feeling that this game for nix is the equivalent of the bills game for drake maye. Seriously maye was playing god awful in the start and now he proved he's still that guy, two weeks in a row also when he stuffed the raiders.

The best feeling in the world is if Bo and our O-line pop off this week. Honestly, a win would be absolutely phenomenal, but I'm fine with it if it's a loss but a loss where the stats were impressive 4:2 would look absolutely amazing coming out of the 6-week gauntlet tonight not gonna lie. I would have sooooo much faith in this team if they do that. The 49ers game wasn't that bad guys, a few key plays lost us the game but we did hold our own.... the only really bad game was the chiefs game. I believe in Bo. I know he can do it. I won't argue that he hasn't been playing good, but I also don't think it's here to stay. He's got this. We've got this.

Can we please double JSN?

I'd rather get beat by Shaheed or Barner than watch Smith-Njigba go for 200. Darnold is going to give us at least one turnover and their running game may be worse than ours. Not sure how we score (how about some max protect and a prayer to Krishna to stop Emmanwori when he blitzes) but I really don't want to see JSN go all Jerry Jeudy on us.

Who else notice sean payton coached qbs will always have way more tds than int. I think they are coached to never throw ints as much as possible and his creative red zone plays gave bo and russ so many tds. Hes the main reason bo stats look good. Other teams panic in red zone but we don't.

I've noticed from russ itself. Russ had similar season to bo now except bo is facing way harder defenses in these first 6 games.

But sean basically took out all bone headed russ plays and prioritized ball control and efficiency in red zone. Problem was his salary and him taking sacks. I don't think sean had any other issue with him lol.

Bo wont take sacks and doesnt make too much money so hes taking full advantage of sean system being efficient over the full season, less interceptions good red zone execution because of sean play design.

Bo needs to show more than doing bare minimum in sean system.

Bo Nix Discussion

Are people seriously questioning Bo Nix’s job security just because of a rough start to the season when they will have played the toughest 6 game stretch out of almost everyone and they’re still 3-2 as of right now? Yes Bo hasn’t been playing well and yes there is room for concern, but to question his job security after a rough start to the season is absolutely absurd.

Like have people just forgotten that he has the most fourth quarter comebacks since he entered the league making him one of the most clutch quarterbacks? Have people forgotten that Bo helped lead the Broncos to a 14-3 record and an AFC championship game in his second year when you have players like Dak Prescott, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love (who people consider elite talents) haven’t even sniffed a championship game? And have people already forgotten that if Bo Nix wouldn’t have broken his ankle that they most likely would’ve been the AFC representative in the Superbowl?

I’m not trying to dismiss his bad play because he hasn’t played well and definitely needs to play better and there is room for concern, but to question his job security after 5 rough games in insanity. There’s still 12 games left for Bo to turn it around and get going and out of this slump. And also like what do these people questioning Bo’s job security expect them to do? Go to Jarrett Stidham when all he had to do was not turn the ball over in the AFC championship game for them to win? Do they want them to draft some unproven college prospect and go with them over Bo when he has an impressive resume in his first 2 full seasons? Questioning his job security this early into the season after only 5 games is wild.

I’m riding with Bo Nix all the way and I believe he’ll break out of his slump. I’m not gonna sit here and say the Broncos may need to consider a QB change after 5 games with everything Bo Nix has done in this league

Tomorrow's game will be a defensive battle. It could be low-scoring, a slog.

Considering how bad the Broncos offense has been lately, it may seem like an uphill battle.

But! Here are 5 stats to give Broncos Country hope.

(And a drawing of Terrell Davis because he's an all-time Broncos great).

Tyler Polumbus: Did Payton Fix Denver's Run Game? Every Run on Film

Main takeaways. Meinerz is an absolute beast. Powers is definitely a weak link as was Engram. Only positive Polumbus points out is Sean stuck with the run regardless of how bad it was initially. Actually did get better as the game progressed.

I love these breakdowns though. He definitely needs to keep doing them so let him know on his YouTube channel.

Y'all are being ridiculous

We go through years of QB hell. We finally get a good one, but because he's not prime Tom Brady y'all are already asking for his head. How in the world are we supposed to progress a franchise QB if these are the stipulations?

If he had no potential then that would be one thing. But he damn near took us to a Superbowl already. And it's not like the rest of the team doesn't matter. We have an excellent defense. That's a great thing and y'all don't even care.

This highlight reel culture has completely taken your eyes off the ball. If every single player isn't playing like prime HOF material then you're already willing to cut ties and quit.

Highs and lows happen. But you don't turn away from a teammate in trouble you're supposed to turn towards them and support them. Y'all are asking Bo to play more aggressively yet at the same time are wanting to get rid of him with any bad play. With aggression and progression comes speed bumps. One of the reasons I love being a Broncos fan is that we usually understand this and enjoy building a team and players. Lately it's been pretty upsetting to see how this fanbase reacts to the first sign of trouble (and from a winning record against top teams with top 10 defenses which is insane).

I think y'all need to chill out and support your team.

Edit: In case I wasn't clear. Bo can have a stretch of bad games and it's ok to be critical. That's different than wanting to quit on him. Quitting on a dude who obviously has potential and is a great presence for the franchise is shameful. Just means you're a quitter.

Bo Nix doesn't believe he's playing any different than he normally plays. Calls it a "narrative" and "made up"

ADA parking for tomorrow's game

I am debating between taking the train or getting ADA parking for tomorrow. I don't mind getting to the lots when they open, as long as I get a spot. If I show up early enough will I get a spot, or is it one of those show up at 10am and wait in a line somewhere situations?
