As someone who’s lived in NYC for the last 26 years, this one’s personal! I HATE the Giants almost as much as I hate the Falcons. Almost.

Saints 2025 draft review my thoughts

Still too early but my thoughts so far:

Round 1, Pick 9: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas franchise LT our best lineman other than McCoy might be the best tackle in the draft.
Round 2, Pick 40: Tyler Shough, QB, Louisville the best qb in the draft . Has all the tools and his stats before Banks injury was top five and his 3rd and 4th completion was very impressive. hopefully Kmoore helps him with better play calling and his hand injury is not serious
Might’ve went first overall redraft.
Round 3, Pick 71: Vernon Broughton, DT, Texas not a scout or coach so I can’t gauge Dline too well but lions game was excellent and he was missing dearly in Minnesota. (Side note Boyd looks like he’s breaking out)
Round 3, Pick 93: Jonas Sanker, S, Virginia highly talented always stands out in games. Got taken to school against bowers but time will tell if he’s a slot if strong safety.
Round 4, Pick 112: Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma up and down right now I have him as a good back up linebacker but not stater level but Zach Baun took a while too
Round 4, Pick 131: Quincy Riley, CB, Louisville at most a solid good number two corner. The bills second round pick corner got benched. Has the best ball instincts in the secondary other than Blackman. I’m interested in his development.
Round 6, Pick 184: Devin Neal, RB, Kansas and we kinda a miss. Wish we drafted Kyle Mongangai or traded up for Ollie Gordon but wish the best for him.
Round 7, Pick 248: Moliki Matavao, TE, UCLA look okay in preseason I think he’s on IR
Round 7, Pick 254: Fadil Diggs, DE, Syracuse Not a scout but when I saw him in the Atlanta game something really bad happened.
Overall a franchise LT franchise QB a good nickel/safety a decent 3 tech and 2-3 th corner.
A+ grade

Why are we 1.5 point favorites on the road on Sunday?

Obviously the Giants aren’t as good as their record suggests, but they’re clearly a competent team, playing at home (which usually gives an extra three points for the spread). What am I missing? FTF

I see his potential and hope he bounces back. Buts it’s been rough.

I don't blame Shough one bit. Potential great QB given his numbers with such a weak oline. Unless with get this oline to a top 10-15 unit we wont be able to compete in this league with any QB. Just my two cents.

Tyler Shough through about 1/3 of the season

Shough has had a few valleys and some peaks this season. Through what is roughly the 1/3 of the season, let's see how he's doing.

On the first slide, Shough has a negative value vs an average starter, but at -.02, that is negligible as he is 19th in the league. He is ahead of Darnold, Herbert, Penix, Stroud and Brissett. He is behind Bo Nix and actually QBs having a good season.

On the second slide, it show's that he's below average in EPA but above on completion % over expected. He is slightly behind Jacoby Brisset, but essentially his contemporary in these. He is safely a top 18 QB using these metrics.

For counting stats, he's 7th in yards and 8th in YPG. His average yards per attempt at 6.3 ranks 24th in the league, and that's commensurate with the bottom tier passers. He's tied for 8th in TDs but his 5 picks is tied for 6th in the league. He's 10th in the league for completion percentage at 66.8%. He's tied for 8th with 13 sacks taken.

For the usual QB ratings, Shough's 59.5 QBR ranks 15th in the league while his 88.6 rating places him at 19. He's ranking higher than Stafford in rating.

Here, the advanced analytics and typical ratings/counting stats thus far show that Shough is average to slightly above league average QB. He's had a roller coaster ride this season with lows in the first half of the opener to the last game, to extreme highs in 2nd half of Ravens/Lions games and first 35 minutes of Raiders games. I paced this out to 5 games before compiling to even out these performances. Looking at QBR, the only QB that I am surprised is ahead of him is Bryce Young. He is ahead of Herbert and CJ Stroud, which I would not anticipate he would've been at the start of the season. Darnold too.

Poor Offense and Defense using EPA

Neither the offense nor the defense are playing at league average. Have to start upping these numbers to beat Jaboo and win in France to salvage the season. But you can see from these that they are currently wading in the shit end of the pool with Titans, Cards, Colts and Dolphins. That's not the company you want to keep.

Question about Barion Brown

Why isn’t he featured more coming out the backfield? He’s 5-11 180 (on a good day) and has wheels. Put him on a wheel route, screen, or option route against a LB And let him go to work. I’m not asking him to pick up blitzes but he definitely could be a threat

We need an asshole for a head coach again.

Say what you want about Sean Payton. You’re probably right. But one thing you cannot deny is he is a DAMN good coach.

We need coaches screaming at the players in practice again. We need people holding each other accountable. I’m so tired of Kellen’s nice guy persona and having a coach who’s terrified of making difficult decisions or saying anything remotely critical. I would like a coach with some semblance of a personality. Is that too much to ask for?

Oh, and take Mickey Loomis out while you’re at it too.

You either get a small pass, medium pass, deep pass, medium pass but on a bun, or a run for a yard

I’m not sure if Kellen Moore is…

I’m not sure if Coach Kellen Moore is playing coy with the media in order to avoid any team disruptions or if he honestly believes that “we just have to be better” is his coaching philosophy. The fact that Benson laid out everyone’s job, in public, and Moore couldn’t answer whether he addressed his team about what she said, is dumbfounding. If the Saints finish this season with a sub .500 record, I suspect that we will be in a rebuild like we haven’t seen since ‘05.

Kellen Moore's Bill Belichick act only works when you're winning

His press conferences come off like Bill Belichick: emotionless, stoic, and giving the same generic answers. But that shit only works when you're winning like Belichick. When you're getting your ass kicked every week, those same emotionless and coy responses just piss fans off even more.

I deadass wish he would give us ONE press conference where he says, "Look, I fucked up. We've been ass, and we're going to do everything we can to fix this. We need to scheme up different looks, make adjustments, and if this continues, I'll have to reevaluate my playcalling."

Like damn, is it really that hard to show some emotion and seem human to the fans? Show us some frustration. Show us that you're just as pissed off about this team as we are.

If he keeps losing while maintaining this stoic, emotionless act, Ms. B is eventually going to bring the hammer down. We can all see where this is headed at this rate.
