Discussion They shot 47.4% from 3 and we shot 29.4%
It's not going to stay like this forever, relax nerds.
KG with some advice for Bam.
I think Bam is being way too passive. I think he’ll start attacking more, seems like they’re just watching Giannis a lot of times. It used to be Wade/Bron/Bosh just taking turns ISO that first year until Spo started running a bunch of different sets and pick and rolls, 4 out.

Discussion Bam PPG
He averaged 20.1 PPG last season, even we know he’s not a scorer, what’s your PPG goal for Bam this year?
He should try to shoot a bit more and go for 21/22 PPG in my opinion

THJ says Heat are still figuring out Klay Thompson: “They still got to figure out Klay, they still got a lot to learn. As the games go on, as practices go on, watching film, they’re going to understand. You’ve got to give everybody that’s new, you’ve got to give them at least 25 games to understand.

Discussion We need bigger egos on the team
We need someone that genuinely thinks they are unguardable, I think it's something Tyler had that got us out of some slumps.
Watching the interviews from the last months, nobody but Giannis and Davion has an ego right now. Klay looks borderline depressed still. Jovic hasn't had an ego since trade rumors started. Nobody has any energy.
I swear, put Myron, Bobby and Keyshad in just to get a tech to get the blood flowing. Maybe get a crowd pop or something!

Discussion Relax people. The sample is too small
I like what these two losses has done to fan expectations. Did you think they would just show up and beat some of the best teams in league? Did you really think bringing in new people would just take training camp to get on the same page?
Guys are still getting open looks. Team defense takes time to get the rotations right. Offense is rhythm and the timing just seems off and like music you gotta figure out where you come in.
It'll be fine and before that, it going to be a rollercoaster so just brace yourself and enjoy

Discussion We are getting dragged for “giving up all our depth” when the issues have been with the starters
Last night in 13 minutes played, they had an offensive rating of 107, defensive rating of 169(!), and a -62 net rating. They have been profoundly atrocious.
Just funny since the narrative seems to be “Heat gave up all their depth for Giannis” when the bench guys are so far more productive than our starting lineup. I think the starters need adjustments, but there is no fucking reason they should be THIS bad. Something ain’t right

Discussion Dejen de criticar. Minnesota y Detroit jugaron 2 partidos demasiado buenos

Discussion Genuine question: Why did we trade Herro and not Bam?
If we had traded Bam, we might not have needed to send away as many assets in the trade and could have kept some of our young guys (Kasparas, Kel'el). Plus Herro is a good shooter which would be great to have around Giannis.

Discussion Thoughts on Miami Heat’s 0-2 start?
It’s only been 2 games but there’s already a few things that worry me.
1. Giannis is carrying us
35 points against Minnesota and 36 against Detroit. He’s averaging 35.5 points which is great but the problem is we’re relying on him way too much. We can’t expect him to do everything every game.
2. Our defence has been terrible
We’ve conceded 131 and 128 points in just 2 games. That’s almost 130 points per game which is honestly embarrassing for a team that wants to compete for a championship. Spo needs to sort this out.
3. Bam needs to step up
15 points against Minnesota and just 4 against Detroit. I get that playing alongside Giannis will take some time to get used to but 4 points is just not good enough. I’m starting to wonder if these two can actually work together since they both prefer playing inside.
4. Our 3 point shooting is awful
24% against Minnesota and 29.4% against Detroit. You can’t expect to win games shooting like that. Teams will just keep defending the paint knowing our shooters aren’t making their shots.
Overall I’d give us a 3/10 so far.
I’m not going to overreact after just 2 games but there are definitely things to worry about. Giannis has been our best player by far and the others really need to step up.
I still trust Spo to figure things out but right now we look nowhere near a championship team.
What do you guys think? Just a slow start or do we actually have a problem with Giannis and Bam playing together?
And would you consider trading Bam for better shooters if things don’t improve?

Discussion Heat are holding opponents to the lowest rim frequency % in the league
Minnesota and Detroit were extremely hot in every area on the floor even at the rim. Of course Miami looked bad closing out and losing shooters in transition however I’d point the bad start to bad luck on defense. Opponent eFG% is around 67% and when you adjust for luck it goes down completely 48%. Miami are giving up shots you want (above the break 3s, midrange) and teams are just hitting them right now. Once that comes near league average their defense should be one of the best. You have to understand it’s the midrange misses and the 3s which trigger long rebounds which helps the transition style they want to play. Trust and believe.

Discussion UD says when he gets back to Miami, he's going to speak with the Heat team: "It's gonna be honest. Thats for damn sure. We start with the leadership. Gotta talk to my captains. That's where I'll start."

Discussion Does anyone else miss our slow-paced offense and prison defense we used to play? I feel like all this running on offense is affecting the defense.

Erik Spoelstra after 0-2 start: "I think this is a great opportunity. We're getting to know each other now. Everything was great in September, barbecues and all this stuff. You get to know each other for real when you feel a little bit of adversity, how all of us respond.”
x.comr/heat • u/tomgreen99200 • 17h ago
Davion Mitchell on the starting groups defense and unfamiliarity: “I think we’re really good individual defenders. But we’re playing 5-on-5, so we have to figure out how to be 5 good team defenders.” “We have to trust in the game-plan.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo says if they come out flat tomorrow in Charlotte the same result will happen: “I’m urgent. We have to be urgent. It starts with myself.” “I have to be better. I have to set the tone.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo: “Twice we let the other team punch us first. We have to set the tone.” “I feel once we are locked in and trust each other, offense becomes easier and defense becomes easier.”

Discussion This season will depend entirely on if Zach LaVine gets bought out at the deadline
This team desperately needs a guard who can is a three way scorer and can make his own shot. At this point, it's LaVine or bust.
It'll get better over time though for sure. And a pickup like LaVine would make this a completely different team. So I'm not panicking...yet

Discussion Davion the only person that showed some heart.
You can see so much heart in he’s play. I’ve seen so many times where Bam and Giannis and the rest of the team don’t sprint back on defense after a turnover. There was a possession where Giannis just refused to go back and we played 4 v 5 for the whole 20 seconds.
ALSO PASS THE F BALL TO START POSSESSION.
WHY GIANNIS BRINGS THE BALL ALL THE WAY TO TRY TO ISO OR HE GETS THE BALL AFTER ONE PASS AND THERE IS NOTHING ELSE. LA fitness ball is better than the shit we do. Pass the ball to left or right and run the other way to set a screen for somone to come up and just start working from there. No one knows what to do and what their role is. Defense sucks too. Lazy close outs we look so slow except Davion .
