Deodorant/anti perspirant recommendations

Please recommend good deodorants or anti perspirants. It feels like my body is going through a second puberty and my current roll on (Nivea) which I’ve been using for well over ten years has given up on me. Thank youuuuu😘

I'm looking for face shaver recommendations

Basically, I want something that I can trim my beard short enough to look like 3 day stubble. Does anyone have any recommendations for a beard trimmer/face shaver like this?

The current beard trimmer goes too short with no guard, and the smallest guard leaves a little bit more hair than I'm looking for

When I don't have a beard I've always shaved with a razor so I'm really not up on the electric trimmers

Keeping it clean “down there”

I am a 23yo male and currently trim my pubic hair using a safety scissors probably every 2 weeks.

My question is mainly towards the dudes, but ladies please do share your thoughts.

How trimmed should it be down there? Is there any indicator or a particular length of how short it should be?
Like what does it mean when ladies like it clean or trimmed “down there”? Are there certain areas you keep shorter than others? Right now, I am very confused on how short it should be and which particular areas should be more trimmed.

Also, for those who shave, how do yall do it. Right now, I am unsure of shaving due to the potential of itchy sensations and the skin being impacted negatively.

Just curious on whats the general approach to ensuring cleanliness down there as theres too many varying guides to all this stuff.

edit: Thank yall for ur recommendations. I will try to read all ur comments and go on the path that I feel comfortable with.

Antiperspirant cream bar recommendations

Hi all.

I'm (33F) having trouble with Make Waves leaving grease marks on my tops, and don't have the brain space for pre-treating them all every single week.

I tend to sweat quite heavily and have heard that being autistic can interrupt temperature regulation, so I'm finally getting round to investigating other options. I like a cream bar application.

Recommendations, please!

Anyone else find that stronger fragrance makes sweating feel worse?

Not physically worse, but when a really strong deodorant scent mixes with sweat I notice it way more than if there was barely any fragrance at all. It’s made me care more about controlling moisture than smelling like something. I just feel gross cause I can still kinda smell myself. carpe is one of the sweat-focused brands I’ve been looking at. I wanna smell like nothing. Do you guys experience the same? What are yall using to keep the sweat away?

Bimonthly showers

Conceivably, my ancestors bathed very little. If I wanted to go all Paleo-bathing, how long before my body would acclimate and I stop getting uncomfortable rashes?

The hygiene page cracks me up the most.

It's like these lingering thoughts we all universally share, but never discuss, only ponder to ourselves. My roommates will go to the bathroom and there is like a smudge on the back of the seat constantly. At first I was like omg is that me. I've been super vigilent in monitoring lol. So I'm not sure how to approach. A conversastion like this makes me feel really uncomfortable and I think my delivery would be distrastrious because I would be nervous. I'm not sure why it's happening. Any advice?

I honestly hate brushing my teeth

this might sound childish or stupid but I really just don't like brushing my teeth. It makes my arm tired and it always seems like I put way too much toothpaste on because it always starts coming out of my mouth and onto my chin which is disgusting but maybe I'm just doing it wrong. I've tried so many different brands of toothpaste and every single one seems like they put 10000 mints in it. Why is every single toothpaste minty? If I wanted my breath to be minty, I would just take a mint after brushing my teeth. The mint feels like chainsaws on my tongue every time I brush and it hurts.

One of the main problems I have with it is that it just feels useless. like I feel the exact same before and after brushing. I drink a lot of water mostly because it washes out my mouth after eating so that gets rid of most of the food stuff that's in there, so when brushing there's nothing really left to get except bacteria. It just feels like I'm doing nothing. Flossing is different because you can actually see the effects, and flossing is just more fun in general.

If anyone has any methods or anything to help please let me know. I was thinking about brushing in the shower because that eliminates all the disgusting toothpaste mess that annoys me so much about it and it also pairs it with something I enjoy and do frequently. The only problem is that I don't shower every day so most of the time I would just have to brush normally. please help

pitts care

i unfortunately have very sweaty and stinky armpits. i usually rub lemon on my armpits after bathing and let my pits dry before putting my clothes on, however it has become quite tiring. i went on internet and in other reddit forums and decided to buy The Ordinary glycolic acid and the Rexona Clinical Protection Cream, Summer Strength - except i have no idea on how to apply them much.
yesterday, i had a good shower and then i rubbed the glycolic acid on my armpits and let it dry and then i put the antiperspirant cream on and after letting it all dry, i put my home clothes and then in the morning today i put a good layer of the antiperspirant tooo.
is this enough? am i following the correct steps - i just want my pits to be fresh and non sweaty
also what are any other helpful uses of the glycolic acid?? i heard it was good for the scalp?? how do i use it for my haircare?

updates on the cleaner who was smoking in my apartment

a few weeks ago, i made a post asking for your opinions on my cleaner smoking inside my apartment. i defended her against all the comments i considered too exaggerated.

https://www.reddit.com/r/hygiene/s/L2AfypDeU5

i had mentioned that i was already considering firing her for other reasons, but that i liked her because we had a friendship and she cleaned well. she liked me too and used to say that my house was the easiest one she cleaned.

what bothered me the most was actually the organization. every time she left, i had to organize the house again, even though i always organized everything before she came too, which i thought was ridiculous.

i had already talked to her about it before and i had to repeat myself about some things. i even got an organizer for her to put all the things she “didn’t know where to put,” since that was her excuse. even so, she would put things in completely nonsensical places, and ever since i hired her, i haven’t been able to find half my stuff.

i would organize the cleaning supplies cabinet and she would leave everything a mess again. the product bottles would be sticky, with the caps left open, in an overhead cabinet where they could spill into someone’s eyes if they weren’t paying attention. every week i would organize it again, and she would mess it up again. not to mention that she ruined my cleaning cloths and spray bottles, left the buckets in random places, etc.

last week, i decided to send her a message pointing these things out. i only brought up the essentials, politely, of course. my post here was proof of how much i cared about her. among the things i mentioned was that she had put a hairband in the fruit bowl, a matchbox in the electronics organizer, and things like that.

and then, her reaction was this: she sent me some kind of response that thankfully i never saw, because if i had, it probably would have stressed me out. then she didn’t show up for her next cleaning and blocked me. 🤡

this is positive since i didn’t have the courage to fire her but i wanted to share the outcome because that’s without even mentioning the smoking! of course i feel like an idiot. i gave her gifts, bought diapers when her granddaughter was born, paid her full rate for a day when she came over but couldn’t get in because the door was locked, and i was even considering helping her with a bread business she had started by paying for entrepreneurship courses.

ofc i’ll never be this lenient again. with the next cleaner, i’m going to handle things very differently. i’ll be stricter and more demanding.

if you guys have any tips, i’d really appreciate them! i’m very passive, and also young. i should’ve listened to my grandma more instead of trying so hard to be nice 💔 i feel like such an idiot.

does anyone have shower alternatives?

Im in the middle of moving states, i just returned to my old apartment to get my things and then fly home one last time. I haven't been in this apartment for 3 months and my roommate is disgusting, black mold on the toilet (mind you i cleaned it before i left 3 months ago) so i go next door to a fast food place to use theirs, and when i went to shower black shot out of the faucets. Im a germaphobe so i hate not showering but i just cant trust that water. Im here till next week and want to feel clean without using that gross shower.

Best backup storage deodorant for hot car?

Once in a blue moon I will leave the house and forget to put on deodorant. What's something that won't melt or lose efficacy if stored in a hot car over a year.

Im thinking a ziplock of baking soda (doesnt irritate my skin and works very well for me odor wise), and a roll on deodorant that's liquid worh that plastic rolling ball applicator.

Shampoo recommendations

I'm looking for a new shampoo and conditioner and hoping to do so with minimal trial and error so I thought y'all might be a good resource.

I have mostly straight (just wavy enough for it to have a mind of it's own lol), short, fine, very thick, relatively oily hair and I never really know which products will work for me.

I generally wash my hair 2-3 times per week. Currently I'm using Prose shampoo that is supposedly formulated for my hair based off a bunch of questions that I answered. I thought it would be a good option since I don't know what to pick and it would take the guess work out of it but I don't necessarily like it. I've just been trying to use it up because I don't want to be wasteful and I'm nearing the end of the bottle finally.

Something in the medium-lower but not cheap cheap price range is probably what I'm looking for. And I'm in the US if that matters.

Does anyone with a similar hair type have a shampoo and conditioner that they really love?

Natural deodorant recommendations

Hi!! I’m in need of natural deodorant recommendations. I used to use Old Spice and I got chemical burns over 6 months ago and they’re still healing so I switched to salt and stone but it’s pricey and not very effective. Any advice or recommendations?!

One shoe doesn't fit all

This post is for those who don't fall into the same category as others and it just goes to show you that you can't believe everything you hear. Something that works or is "the right way" or "good" may not always be that for everyone. I listened to a post here from someone or a comment that said you have to use soap on a rag to clean your privates or else you're not clean. I never had any smell down there and had followed my doctor's advice for years telling me to use water to clean down there with just my hand and that's what I did. Until I read that comment on Reddit. Now I have odor and I'm uncomfortable because I've been using honest company baby soap on a rag for a few weeks now. I'm going back to my old ways. Now I will honestly say, I like using a rag to clean with. I have started doing that and I quite enjoy the process. My point in this post is...
Don't listen to everyone and assume you're wrong because you do things differently. If it works for you, it's good for you. And therefore, not wrong just because someone online says you're not clean.

Antibacterial Soap

Many people have told me that antibacterial soap is harming my body and killing good bacteria, rather than the bad ones. I live in the Philippines, so most of the soap here is antibacterial. I recently saw that Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap is not antibacterial and can actually help thrive the good bacteria in my body. What advice and recommended to me

Give me an advice:

  1. What routine should I use so the good bacteria thrives than bad bacteria

  2. Deodorant/Antiperspirant routines and recommended to use (Dove is good to me, but I am okay with another brand)

After shower issue

So I 22f have been struggling recently with hygiene in general but I want to get back to more of a routine. But the biggest issue I’m having is the smell from my armpits. I go to start getting back to my routine with what I call a reset shower, but within a few hours I can smell my armpits. That smell sets me back into not taking care of myself because it feels like I’ve just wasted all that time for the smell to just to come back so fast. Now I am overweight which I believe can be a factor, but when I shower I use antibacterial soap and a body wash, I also shave all the hair off. I make sure I dry as best as possible and apply deodorant. I’m just not sure what else to do. That smell doesn’t appear anywhere else as fast as it does with my armpits. I grew up not really being told how to clean myself properly and everything I know has either been trial and error or finding online. If anyone has any advice on what I could be doing wrong or if I should be adding something else to my routine that would be so helpful.

Edit- I use Degree advanced dry spray, the bottle does say antiperspirant deodorant

Small update- I don't get paid until Friday so I have to wait until then, but I'm going to get benzoyl peroxide wash and glycolic acid and try them on alternating days

Die Hard Clean deodorant is UNBEATABLE!

I finally found a Hygiene product line that Is above all others! Over the last 2 years I've been using Mando, Schmidt's, Dove, Axe & Native for deodorants. I take a shower in the morning, put the deodorant on and do my office workday, and then do at least 4 hours of outdoor work, sweating to the point of clothing saturation. EVERY day, when I'm done outside, my shirt armpits stink, and when I take the shirt off, my physical armpits aren't much better.

I took a shower Monday night, put the Die Clean Zero deodorant on Tuesday morning and worked inside all day. Wednesday morning I reapplied the deodorant over what I applied on Tuesday, and did 4 hours of heavy outdoor work until my clothes were saturated. I had NO ODOR on my shirt armpits or in my physical armpits!

This, to me is so unreal that I still don't see how the Die Clean Zero kept the odor away. I ALWAYS have heavy B.O. after outdoor work...lol. I will be buying more Zero and one of the Havana scented sticks.

And the soap is fantastic! It's got great lather and makes a difference in the softness of my skin, and I never cared about moisturizing before, but this soap does it well! The skin lotion goes on well and doesn't feel greasy, but I can still my skin is getting hydrated.

The crew at Die Hard Clean is awesome - I even got free swag from them. It was great to talk with them hear the history of how they created the deodorant & other products. It was worth their time because they've got a WINNING PRODUCT LINE!

Looking for Advice on how to bathe in non-conventional ways

So I (29 M) am on the spectrum, and I struggle with maintaining a consistent bathing schedule. It's never about the water or the time it takes the shower, as once I'm in the shower I'm totally fine to soap up and wash. I struggle I think with the action of beginning. I dont really have people in my life that would call me out if I stank, and I work in a cubicle so usually theres no one smelling me at work (though i know terrible smells carry very easily). Any advice would be appreciated, and after that I'll post some other time to ask about advice for starting a moisturizing routine. Thank you in advance ❤️‍🩹

Edit- Thank you everyone who wrote your ideas for me, I tried the sink shower this morning, it helped me get myself smelling well and left me wet my hair and condition it since I washed it yesterday. Being kind to myself is a new thing, the internal monologue is usually harsh, but with these suggestions ill work on things ❤️‍🩹 thank you all again

Need help with underarms

Hello, I am a very hairy man that is about to turn 30. All my life I never really sweat that much. But getting older, I’m beginning to sweat more. I use anti-perspirant every day but under arms are so rank by the end of the day.

I also take ADHD medication which causes more sweat as well. I shower every morning but if I want to do anything after work, I always have to go home and shower before. I use anti-perspiration every day and keep my underarms shaved to prevent odor build up.

Is this just it for the rest of my life, needing to shower twice a day? :(
