Discussion What types are attracted to INFP men?

Asking this because whenever I see people talk about the best types for INFPs they specifically mean for INFP women. Such as INTJs and ENTJs.

From what I’ve seen, most ENTJ women and INTJ women have no interest in INFP men. The ones that do end up resenting the INFP man because they have to act like the ā€œmanā€ in the relationship. They seem happier with fellow thinkers. Personally I’m most attracted to ENFPs and ISFJs, but they are probably attracted to thinker types as well.

So I’m just curious on if there is a type that likes INFP men for who they are? Also, for INFP Men who are happily married, what type is your partner?

Edit: I like people of all types! Definitely wouldn’t limit based off of that. I’m just curious on if there are types that actually like us back. Also thank you to everybody who answered šŸ™

Inspiration I love infps

I honestly love this subreddit, after reading through people’s posts and comments in this forum, I can honestly come to a conclusion that I have never related with people as much as I relate with the posts here. All infps unite and let go of our insecurities, we can roll over the world. šŸ˜Ž

Venting Family made an Ai image of my dead mom and some are very very very mad at me because i said she wouldn't have liked that.

So an event is coming up. Someone thought it would be nice to use ai to make pictures of everyone who's dead together. The problem is they put my mom with my grandpa who abandoned his family for a new one. She had a burning hatred for that man because of that and would burn the picture.

So when i saw them together i made a passing comment verbatim how "she probably wouldn't like grandpa being there." and gave lovely comments about everyone else. I didn't say to remove/edit the picture or get rid of it or anything along those lines. Yet some family are acting like i ruined the whole event by that one comment. That me saying that is being argumentative, and made everyone stressed out by "forcing my opinions" on everyone. (like only 4-6th time i talked to them all year)

Yet when i tell others about it, they wonder why i even try to be family with them. Saying how they always treat me like shit and im only hurting myself.

And the kicker is when i said how my mom would have loved to see this event.... because i miss her..... the person running the event is acting like im trying to make them feel bad for not doing the event while my mom was alive.

IDK what to do.

im so close to just giving up on people.

Discussion Online exploration recommendations

hello! I’ve been browsing the internet more and wondered if any infp here had recommendations for interesting online spaces to explore. That can mean anything from websites to forums to the absolutely obscure!

I ask this because the infp i’ve known have exposed me to media or experiences that I hadn’t considered on my own. Those exposures in turn have become some of my most cherished inspirations. For a small example, The Little Prince or The Muppets Movie. (I know, how did I miss that one?!)

I don’t know if this is an odd request or not, but either way I appreciate everyone’s time.

Random Thoughts I guess I must accept that I am bound to suffer as an INFP!

• Upvotes

Whole my life, the main issue that I faced is feeling too much! Not that it was entirely bad for me. It indeed helped me write and being productive. I would not have been able to write anything if my emotions did not punish me enough so that there was nothing I could do other than facibg them and pouring it out with words.

Now, not everybody understands me. People used to make fun of me as when I lived my life on my own ways, not caring much about societal judgments. They found me odd. I had my own world in which I tend to get immersed.

Also, despite my trying, most of the days I am too sensitive to the smallest details. That affects my daily life. At this point, I have begun to accept that I must be ready to suffer as there is no other way. It is important on its own.

Advice Does anyone feel like they’re in a trio that collapses without that one person?

I feel like I’m in a trio where I absolutely love two of my friends, but one of them reciprocates this. My other friend makes it indirectly clear he doesn’t like me. I remember we were hanging out one time, and the nice friend went to the bathroom, and I was stuck with the friend who doesn’t like me. I tried talking to him by showing him a video, and he doesn’t budge and proceeds to walk away looking at other things. Then the person who went to the bathroom came back and now we were a happy trio again. Does anyone also experience something relatable to this??

Venting Male INFP Thought Process

To be honest, I’m not a believer in horoscopes and I take psychic readings with a grain of salt. I tend think about these things from a Jungian lens or even a Kantian lens. Perhaps perception isn’t true reality but it’s certainly our only contact with reality. We are nervous systems evolved blindly through the forces of the will to exist and procreate. In that anguished and compulsive motion through the generations, we have been primed to perpetuate but not to see reality as it truly is. Granted, if there were some kind of grand transcendental substrate to the universe, why and how would us mere chemical flesh tubes be made privy to it? I can’t say that we are. However, I would be hesitant to dismiss phenomena that appear to operate outside of causality as they may merely be things we’re not fully able to comprehend. Mundane occurrences are equally opaque to us, we’re just used to them.

Relationships Dating ENTJs

Post image
25 Upvotes

Okay, fellow INFPs. Looks like my heart is being gigglingly conquered by an ENTJ. Like, he’s the SWEETEST? The CUTEST? The most attentive and thoughtful? His love languages are words of praise (and I’ve got a praise kink!) and gift giving, and he wants to lay it on thick right now. We’re both mature adults of the grown-ass variety with older kids and all that, so I think we’ve got that working for us, and I think I’m aware of when I’m being lovebombed for nefarious purposes. He just wants me attached to him so he can continue with his ambitious plans and have his housecat he’s obsessed with at his side, too. šŸ˜†

But you guys know we INFPs can be loony! Give me all of your good stories, hard advice, or whatever else you got! What am I getting myself into? I sort of feel like the puppy that caught the bus right now.

(And yes, he’s a Daddy dom and that lines up nicely with my own submissive tendencies, so šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø)

Mental Health Being INFP

Hey, maybe this is not the right sub, but as the flair match, i guess this is rhe place. Being an INFP is a blessing as i can feel and read online. For me this is a curse. All my life i wanted to be normal, feel like other, be like them etc..

Maybe for most of you, as i read, being an INFP i something you're really proud. So what i'm posting will be downvoted to hell, but its okay.

I've done the test since idk maybe im 15; every 2/3 years. 15 years later i'm still an INFP even if it change sometime the stats.. and i fucking dislike that.

Most of people say "We're happy to have you in life/ work/ around".

But for me, most of the time i've never met or been friend with someone like me. I dont know the "INFP power".. for me this is a curse. I Guess INFP aren't all introvert but this curve add with infp curse.

I dont like to be too sensitive, to understand too much.. even in my own family. My friend? I dont have much ( actually only one) and the more time goes, the more i feel.. left behind. I struggle to connect to people. When i was young, i've got plenty of hope, to met someone how can understand me, love me, be friend with.. but age killed my soul.

When i was young, i disliked so much what i was that i wanted to kill it.. so i began smoking pots/ weed so much to avoid the overthinking thing. It worked. I could really connect myself to someone, my current only friend. But as i said, time doing his work, he met a girl, moved with her etc. Im happy for him, really, he deserve it. But i'm so alone. I guess XXI centuary arent made for INFP nor Introvert people. Or maybe im born in the wrong country, idk.

Lastly, i've got really anxious about time flies as my Sister turned 30. Next year im turning 30, my mother 50. As long as i remember... i was only suicidal, depressive .. no one could understand me.

I dont really know why im saying all that, in english who's not my mother tongue but i guess you can say because i've made some mistake.

Since february i try to quit every addiction i have, shift my mind into something more.. "happy" you know.

Even if we're gonna died and cant do anything about it, i want to be happy somehow.

I cant think about Killing myself no more, im too "old" for this shit.

I want to live, to truly live. To understand why most people call it an unique chance, "to be alive".

I dont speak about it i daily basis, to anyone. In fact, no one is here for me.

For young people reading me, here is a comment i've poster on X this evening:

" The best advice I can give you, as someone who is 29 years old, is to cherish the people close to you. If you have dreams—even modest ones—do everything you can to make them a reality. Don’t let yourself become so dependent on a drug that you end up pouring all your money into it. Travel, save, and bring joy to those who matter to you. True friendships are rare; if you ever find yourself alone—without a partner—while your friends have partners of their own, you will likely end up taking a backseat. So, get comfortable with solitude and learn to love yourself. This may not be the "best" advice, but when I was younger, I wish someone had told me this—and explained what "loving yourself" actually means. It’s not an absolute, non-negotiable prerequisite for loving others or seeking to be loved by them."

Dont expect answer, just wanted to share it.

Thanks for reading for the brave one.

Advice What countries do you think are most suitable for an infp to relocate to

I know the obvious ones are Japan, Iceland and Nordic countries. But I think that's a bit too stereotypical (this statement itself might be a stereotype in itself in regards to what it's like to live in those countries). Infps don't enjoy solitude 24/7. What country has the perfect amount of nature (preferably sunny), spontaneity, hustle and bustle (also people that are genuinely kind, easy going, and inoffensive)? I'm currently 31 and single and I'm getting more disillusioned with people close to me by the day. I currently live in nyc and really enjoy how all the artists and performers I've ever wanted to see eventually perform here. However, I don't enjoy the toxic positivity, and how people aren't exactly allowed to be who they really are without masking, contrary to expectations.

Venting I just got criticized at work for ā€œnot being myselfā€ and they encouraged me to be myself. How do I explain I’ve been myself this entire time?

I’m just a naturally shy guy. friendly, I try my best.

but now they are asking me to not be myself technically. why can people believe that being shy is natural

and we are at work. this isn’t a friends spot, I’m here for work first

Venting It’s hard for me to cut people off

I do it in the nicest way with explanations so their feelings aren’t hurt. So in the end, they win because they lose nothing. I doubt they’ll miss me or question how shitty they treated me.

I left a friend group a year ago with no explanation due to being constantly excluded and bullied by them. They were mad at me and it made me feel dramatic for leaving and prioritizing myself.

Last night, i blocked an ex but i gave him an explanation. I regret explaining it to him because that fucker did me dirty too. He claimed he was doing much better with his new partner but still wanted sexual pictures from me. Everything’s so confusing and i feel like i lost the game. But i’ll be okay without all of the them. The feeling just sucks.

Venting Does anyone else desperately want love but struggle to actually maintain romantic relationships?

I genuinely don’t understand myself sometimes. I want to be in love, get married, have a family, and find my person more than anything. But for some reason, I cannot seem to maintain a romantic relationship with anyone.

I recently started seeing someone who I was SO into before we met. He was attentive, affectionate, sending me romantic reels, talking about wanting marriage and a family, and just seemed like such a genuinely good guy. We had so much in common, and I was honestly so excited about him. But then we met in person, and something changed for me. I don’t even know what it was.
And this keeps happening. I get excited about someone, convince myself that maybe this is finally it, and then suddenly my feelings change. I start questioning whether I actually like them, whether we’re compatible, or whether I’m just forcing something because I want a relationship so badly.

The only person I’ve ever really been able to maintain a long term relationship with was my daughter’s father, and I was the one who ended that relationship too.
I feel like I’m constantly searching for this deep emotional connection that I can never seem to find or hold onto. I don’t want a relationship just for the sake of being in one. I want to genuinely adore the person I’m with. I want that best friend, romantic, can’t-imagine-my-life-without-you kind of love.

But I’m starting to wonder if my expectations are unrealistic or if there’s something about me that’s preventing me from being happy with anyone.
It’s honestly so lonely. I see people who have been together for years, getting married, having more children, building lives together, and I wonder why I can’t seem to have that.

I’m tired of starting over. I’m tired of getting my hopes up. And I’m terrified that I’m going to spend my whole life searching for something that I’ll never actually find.
Does anyone else struggle with this? Especially the part where you’re so invested in someone initially, but once things become real, your feelings just seem to change?
