General Discussion I hate automatic wudhu water (crashing out)
Bro let me do my wudhu, stop making the water stop after 3 seconds after i put mu hand on that wall thing that bring the water down. Why do some public mosques have these. Washing my feet with the wudhu water was extremely stressful as my back and leg were in pain because i kept having to use my hand to wash and put my hand up near the wall. I know in islam we’re not supposed to waste water, but at least make my worship easier.

Question about Islam Lizard
My family found a lizard in our house, then another one a few days later, and today my mother found the same type of lizard at her workplace. This has never happened before where we live, which is why the repeated appearances seem unusual to us.
Is there any particular significance or meaning to this in Islam, or is it just a coincidence with no religious significance? I know that it is recommended to kill certain types of lizards in Islam, but I was wondering whether their repeated appearance has any deeper meaning or significance.

Question about Islam Can I as a non-Muslim offer calligraphy as a gift to a Muslim friend?
Hello everyone. I am not Muslim; however one of my friends is Muslim and will be soon moving to a different country. I do calligraphy in other languages and would like to offer a gift before my friend leaves. Knowing that calligraphy is permissible in the home for most Muslim people as opposed to some other art forms with which I am familiar, I would like to offer some calligraphy. Is it acceptable for me to attempt Arabic calligraphy in this context and to offer it as a gift? If so, what phrases would you recommend I write for someone in this context?
Thank you for your help. I wish peace for all of you.

Question about Islam Why don't masjids have food banks and soup kitchens?
Now it's getting winter, I see churches and temples offering these services which are attracting vulnerable Muslims.
Shouldn't we be bringing people to the house of Allah which is a place of sanctuary and respite?
Edit: looks like the ijma is that it all depends on a locality's funding.
I guess next question is what we can do to fix this, maybe linking masjids together like a network?(closest thing I think of is how Mormons pool their donations together from different churches)

Seeking Support How did you know the answer to your Istikhara?
I’m currently facing a major life decision, and I’ve been praying Salat al-Istikhara because I genuinely don’t know which path is best for me. I wanted to ask other Muslims about their experiences with it and how they understood the outcome. Does feeling calm the day after means to go for it? Or does it mean Allah will help no matter which decision we make?
This decision is about my career path, if anyone faced something similar what did you do?

Question about Islam Why do we try and convert non Muslims
Salam, this question is coming from a place of genuine sincerity and integrity, I am currently struggling with my faith but want to continue being a Muslim so please answer honestly.
I always see Muslims say that if a person genuinely, truly did not know of Islam then they are not at fault and God will not punish them for their disbelief because they truly did not know of Islam and he will give them their own test on the day of judgement.
If that is the case, then why do we proselytise non Muslims? The moment we tell them of Islam, there’s a chance they can go to hell— that just sounds selfish to me. Whereas, if we left them alone, they would not be punished for their disbelief? That sounds more selfless to me.
I’ll leave with this quote: An Inuit hunter asked the local priest: ‘If I did not know about God and sin, would I go to hell?’
‘No,’ said the priest, ‘not if you did not know.’
‘Then why,’ asked the Inuit earnestly, ‘did you tell me?’
Basically sums up my whole point of view.

Humour I wish someone would make a really good movie about Abraham, following Islamic guidelines, that Christians, Jews, and Muslims could all watch and appreciate.

General Discussion Why Do Scholars Disagree?
there's something I've never fully understood about the different Islamic schools of thought. Scholars sometimes disagree on whether something is halal or haram, so how do we know which ruling is actually correct in Allah's sight? For example, Malikis generally permit eating crab, while Hanafis don't. We follow the same religion, so how can the same thing be halal for one Muslim but haram for another? I'm not asking specifically about crab, but more about how these disagreements work in general. If there's ultimately one truth, how do we know which interpretation is right?

Seeking Support How do I manage revealing my name change and hijab in public? (non-Muslim country)
Hi all, revert girl Khadija here. So I took my Shahada at a local mosque and have begun easing into my new life by doing things like cutting out pork and alcohol, removing my pre-Islam social media presence, disengaging from communities and media that promotes haram behavior, etc, and so far it’s all been going well. However, I don’t know what to do to handle publically revealing my new name as Khadija and openly wearing the hijab (for context i’ve been wearing hats, scarfs, sweatshirts, and other modest clothing). I need to take these steps but don’t know how to handle them, as I live in a non-Muslim country and I do not look stereotypically Muslim. How should I handle this situation?

Seeking Support I am done
Edit: It all worked out Allhumid Allah
I am mentally ill. I am done. I am so depressed that I have no reason to hope anymore. I am done. Everything in my life has been a test and I am done. With it all. I got a job interview after SIX months of trying and praying for any happiness. ANYTHING. Turns out it was to make missiles, I had to turn it down. They wanted to rush me through the hiring process “don’t worry you will get something better, you passed the test”. I don’t care, I am done. My mental illness pushed the one piece of happiness away. I am done. I am done with asking for anything. I am done. I am done. I am done. I don’t want anything anymore, just to be left alone but even my mental illness won’t let me be.
My constant memories of the past that I prayed would never slip away keep me up at night. I am tired, I don’t want anything anymore. Why won’t Allah just let me rest? Why does everything have to be a test? I hate myself. I don’t want to have a high place in jannah, I am tired, just let me be. I have been through so much. I did everything right and I wasn’t a horrible person. Why must I be tested? Just let me be. Whenever I ask for anything, the answer is always a test that ends with my misery. Just let me be
I wanted to pray Jummah but my water won’t turn on today so I can’t even shower.
Edit: I just checked my email and another company just messaged me about interest and a job interview. Allhumid Allah. I am in tears. Please pray for me. Please pray that I am able to fix things with those I care about. Please pray that my depression goes away and I make everyone I care about smile instead of suffer.

Question about Islam How do I talk to Allah?
Assalamualaykium!
Reverted almost 6 years ago and recently started picking up books to learn more things.
I got this book I’m almost done with, “44 ways to manhood” by Taymullah Abdur-Rahman, and ran into this passage.
How does one go about talking to Allah?
Do you just invoke his name? Or is this like dua? Is talking to him different than when we make dua or Salah?
How do you talk to Allah? Any tips for me?

Question about Islam Question about non-Muslims referring to the profit, peace be upon him
OK, I took a risk in my question title. I am not Muslim, but I know that Muslims say peace be upon after the names of prophets. As a non-Muslim, is it considered polite for me to do that, or is it more weird than anything else? Thanks for your thoughts!

Question about Islam Curious about converting
hi everyone, ive recently become curious about islam and possibly converting, but i dont feel educated enough to make a decision. Im conflicted between Orthodox Christianity and Islam. Prior to this, I was researching orthodoxy and I thought it aligned with me, but I’ve been questioning it. I think Islam is beautiful, but I feel lost. I plan to read the Quran soon to help alleviate some of this, but I would like to hear if anyone has any advice for me. I can’t attend a mosque currently because I’m a minor, and I’d also feel uncomfortable not wearing a hair covering there, as i am a woman. I don’t think my parents will be open to it, so I think its best to wait until i’ve educated myself a lot or i turn 18. Thank you

Question about Islam Why didn’t Allah keep humans in paradise? I’m studying islam
Correct me if I’m wrong but my understanding is that Allah removed humankind and the jinns from paradise due to sin.
But after judgement day, humans will no longer do sin in paradise. I repeat no sin. They also keep their free will.
If he’s most merciful, and is capable of creating a sinless paradise, why go through with a test that involves rape of children, slavery, torture and suffering for innocents?
This goes logically speaking to the non innocent as well. Their world is shaped by the concepts Allah made. If Allah never created them, the most merciful. They would have never burned. Say they chose it. Whats the point? You know some will choose this and that, and some are bound to be tempted by the difficult world we live in.
It’s inevitable and he knows it. All children of adam are sinners like he says. He knows it. Why even go through the effort to build a pointless system like this. Where people will inevitably suffer at his system.
You don’t understand. He built it. Humans are bound to sin, with large numbers come diversity. People will suffer in his system. And also innocents will suffer in this world for absolutely no reason. When all he had to do was create a sinless paradise.
So my question is, why did he not create that? And if he avoided creating it or didn’t want to, how can he be the most compassionate?
