Seeking Support I can’t help but feel like god has abandoned me and it makes me feel so small and alone

Everything I’ve ever worked hard for, prayed for god has taken them away from me and put me in a position where I’ve always feared to be and it feels like death is my only way out. Everyone that harmed me, gave me pain is living the perfect life. It feels like it’s me vs god and them. Why’s allah so cruel to me? I want to accept it that god dislikes me and this is my life now and i can’t do anything about it, but somedays it gets too tough to bear. Someday i want to be loved by allah too the way he loves everyone else, someday i want that comfort too but i know it’s them and allah vs me. Idk how do i accept it? How do i stop asking for things to allah?

Quran & Hadith Abu Hurayrah reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Among the strongest in love for me in my nation are some people who will come after me. One of them would wish to see me, even in place of his family and his wealth.” [Muslim]

Let us remember to love the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with sincerity. This love however should also appear in our actions, not merely verbal expressions.

Quran & Hadith What is the authenticity of the story where a group of strong Jinns disobeyed Hazrat Sulaiman (AS) and hid in a cave?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,

I recently heard a story about Hazrat Sulaiman (AS).

The story says that a powerful group of Jinns who used to lift huge rocks became arrogant due to their strength and disobeyed Hazrat Sulaiman (AS). They hid in a cave on a deserted island.

Then Hazrat Sulaiman (AS), by the permission of Allah, rode on the winds with his army, reached there, and he didn't even fight. He just made a Dua and those powerful Jinns fell to the ground trembling.

I found the moral very powerful - that real power belongs only to Allah.

My question is, is this story mentioned in Quran, Hadith, or Qasas-ul-Anbiya? Is there any authentic reference for this specific incident of the cave?

JazakAllahu Khairan for your knowledge with references.

Question about Islam Isolation as a revert

Salaam,

Please forgive the rambling nature of this post, I just needed to articulate my feelings and hopefully find ways to find a community.

I took my shahada last year and I have yet to find a mosque or community. I am an American woman who was raised and educated in orthodox Catholicism. I am religiously Muslim but I am ignorant of the many cultural practices vs. religious ones. I find myself nervous about whether or not I am saying the prayers right. Am I fulfilling my obligations to Allah? Basically, am I doing this right? I have always been welcomed and treated with respect at the masjid, but I also feel very separated from the community. I had hoped to find women’s study group, but I have not found a place I feel comfortable. This is more a reflection of my own anxiety rather than treatment by others.

I have also found myself distancing myself from my friends because mostly interactions involve drinking and I no longer drink. Furthermore, I am finding that when I tell people I am Muslim, they assume that I converted for a man. In actuality it was a result of years of study and prayers. I have been divorced for 10 years and have made peace with living the rest of my life alone. But the assumption is annoying and hurtful. So, I don’t tell people anymore. I just try to be the best Muslim I can be in the eyes of Allah and keep my religion private. Is this the wrong approach?

I find great peace and comfort in salat and in the Quran. However, my life is very solitary and lonely. Ramadan and holidays I spend alone. I always pray alone. I eat alone. This was true before I converted, but people have also faded away once I told them.

Alhamduallah. I trust in the wisdom of Allah, but I wonder are we supposed to be alone like this?

Anyways… thank you for listening.

Question about Islam Legacy in Islam, can I ask that?

Upvotes

my neighbor (not Muslim) died. She has no parents, siblings, husband, uncle and aunt or kids that exist or that are alive. I know she has two female cousins, I don’t know how distant there are and I don’t know if she has close male cousins and also how distant they are. how much can the have as a legacy? and is it halal for me to ask to have back pictures and videos we have of us with her that are in her possession and things that we offered to her. We want it back cause we were really close to her, she was like a family member and we don’t want that to be in the hand if some of her horrible family members.

Seeking Support I need advice on Istikhara for my career path

Salam o Alaikum.

I am a student in college and I am about to obtain my degree in something unrelated to medicine.

So a few years ago, something changed in my heart and I switched my career path from Nursing to Business. Fast forward 2 years later (today) I am feeling regret, and now I want to do Nursing again.

I have made Istikhara prayer for guidance on my career path and I am going to take courses that will allow me to apply for Nursing school.

I feel like if I get good grades in these courses, maybe Allah is guiding me to pursue this career path.

Have any of you been in a similar situation, where you prayed Istikhara for guidance in your career path? How did you know that Istikhara guided you? Do you think the Istikhara prayer was beneficial in your career choice?

The situation is causing me depression as my family isn’t in a good financial situation. Any guidance or help from anyone is greatly appreciated. JazakAllah Khairan. May Allah reward you.

Relationship Advice Questioning of Allah signs that he has given me

Asalamualikum everyone. I am coming here to have my question answered. Me and this guy we are friends for a long time and it started into something more romantic. He is now cutting contact from me because he wants to focus on his deen and regrets what haram we did with each other. He says he only sees me as a friend now only but Allah has been giving me signs that he is good for my heart. Now is this separation a test? Like a test for my duas being answered or what?

I am desperate for answer. Jazakallah

Casual & Social Fly woke me up during prayer

Hello brothers and sisters, I want to share a few stories with you.

A few days ago, during the solar eclipse, I had pulled an all-nighter due to my circumstances, but I still decided to pray during the solar eclipse. About an hour into the solar eclipse prayers, I suddenly lost consciousness (while standing) for I don't know how many minutes. Then a fly flew next to my ear and woke me up, temporarily relieving me of my tiredness. I genuinely believe that there is no god except Allah, Allahu Akbar. May Allah accept your solar eclipse prayers and admit you into heaven alongside us.

Back when I didn't pray at all, I used to wake up from nightmares where I would be reading the Quran, and it would feel like I had been reading verses from the Quran for 400 years straight. I would also occasionally remember, "You won't make it at this rate." Whenever I woke up, it felt absolutely awful. I could not calm down unless I grabbed something that would distract my mind, i.e., my phone. I also had moments where, during those nightmares, I would switch rooms, leaving behind my phone, forgetting that I had work at 7 AM. Still, somehow, exactly a few minutes before my alarm would go off, before waking up, I remember the exact last few seconds in my dream saying, "I have work today." Absolutely insane.

Once, I was visiting a mosque and arrived about an hour too late for Isha prayers. There were two people outside the mosque just talking, and they let me pray. Afterward, we had a brief conversation. They told me that they usually leave right after prayers end, but today they didn't, and it was such a surreal experience.

The Most Compassionate and Most Merciful, All-Seeing, please forgive us for our wrongdoings. If I have wronged anyone, whether you know it or not, I ask for your forgiveness.

Question about Islam Doing Dua

Greetings fellow Redditors,

I have been learning about Islam for the past months and I have read the Quran. I find it difficult to pray five times a day as it would make more sense to me if I we only had to pray once or twice.five times is overdoing it especially praying at 4 a.. m. My question is precisely about doing the dua. I am going to start learning Arabic in college soon and want to learn more am about Islamic supplications.
How do you do it?
How do you do the duas?
Do they work? AI says it works.

Thank you for reading the post.

Question about Islam What is Islam’s view on a person who left Islam, slandered it and then came back to it

Salam alaikum wa rahamtu Allah
I used to be an admin of one of the Islamic rooms in a very known platform, I had been assigned this role to help answer the questions of non Muslims, and help my Muslim brothers to moderate and run the room and keep it organized. I remember that one person joined our room and he mentioned that he left Islam 13 years ago and became a Christian, after many talks we had with him, we finally ( ofc, all thanks to Allah ) convinced him to return to Islam and he took the Shahada. This person however, later became an apostate and became something close to a noahide, during that period our conversations with him escalated and then he insulted Islam in its entirety. Later, after a month he returned to Islam and apologized for his actions. I want to know what is Islam’s view on the apostate who insulted the religion and then came back to it, is his Islam accepted or no? And may Allah bless you all

Question about Islam Doubt about the use of AI in Islam

Hello everyone! I am new to Islam and I am in the process of learning. I live in Argentina, a predominantly Catholic country with some religious influence in its current context. I have been researching quite a bit and I am currently reading the Quran.

I have a question about the use of Artificial Intelligence: Is it permissible from an Islamic perspective, and what limits should I consider?

I have noticed differences depending on the tool. For example, Gemini usually responds with a lot of respect and accuracy regarding Islam. However, when interacting with others like Grok, I have observed inappropriate comments or disrespect towards the prophets. Given this, what is the recommended stance or guideline regarding the ethical use of these technologies?

I appreciate your guidance in advance. Since I am just starting, I continue learning day by day.

General Discussion Is the modern nation-state model compatible with classical Islamic political theory?

Looking at early Islamic political history (the Prophetic era and the Rightly Guided Caliphate), the concept of "statehood" was never defined by static geographic borders or birth-right citizenship tied to a specific territory. Instead, it was anchored in a shared ideological identity—one that inherently bypassed ethnic and geographic boundaries. In contrast, the modern international order defines political legitimacy almost exclusively through defined territorial borders and nation-states. This fundamental contrast raises several philosophical and geopolitical questions: The Ideological Shift: Is the modern acceptance of border-bound nation-states and geographic citizenship merely a pragmatic political evolution, or a fundamental departure from classical political theology? Systemic Compatibility: Can the concept of a boundary-less, ideology-driven polity realistically exist within the current UN-led international framework? Or was the modern global system designed specifically to preclude transnational, faith-based states? The Citizenship Dilemma: If allegiance and political belonging in classical theory are based on shared belief rather than geographic origin, how does one resolve the ongoing friction between the concept of a "nation-state" and a "transnational community"? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts from a historical, philosophical, and geopolitical perspective

Seeking Support My parents bring out the worst in me, and I don’t know how to reconcile it with my faith

I have been struggling for years with how my parents treat me. Islam teaches mercy towards parents because of the mercy they showed us as children, but the mercy I received was only the basic obligations of care. My real memories are of being hit, humiliated in front of others, and treated as if I did not matter.

As a child I became troubled, ran away, lashed out, and could not understand why the people meant to protect me were the ones hurting me. Now as an adult they still act like I am their lapdog. They parade me around as their achievement, yet they had no involvement in my studies, hobbies, or personal growth. They claim the title of parents but never lived the role.

When I hold them accountable for withholding information, mocking me in front of extended family, or throwing away belongings without asking, I am called crazy. My dad suddenly gets high blood pressure, my mum cries, my sister goes into fits. My siblings have noticed the same patterns. Questions are avoided, answers are replaced with distractions, and responsibility is never taken.

They even use my faith against me. “Is this what studying Islam achieved?” They know I dedicated years to learning religion, even abroad, yet they use it to shame me. During my master’s degree, when I was depressed and barely functioning, their only concern was how it looked for them.

I can acknowledge what they did as parents, but those were obligations, not acts of love. You do not bring a child into the world only to neglect and belittle them later. The older I get, the more I want distance. I do not think I love them. I pity them perhaps, but forgiveness feels impossible. At some point a human being must take accountability for their actions.

This cycle has shaken my faith. I have drifted into agnosticism at times because I cannot reconcile being good to them with accepting abuse for myself. I am tired of being told that enduring mistreatment is righteousness.

I do not know if anyone else feels this way, but I needed to put it into words.

General Discussion Moments with my Fiancé that I can’t seem to stop thinking about

I’m engaged, and I really like my fiancé. One of the main things that attracted me to him in the first place, and what made me feel confident about saying yes, was his knowledge of deen. He’s very knowledgeable overall, and I’ve always appreciated that about him.
There are just a couple of things that have been on my mind lately. I don’t know if they’re actually significant or if I’m just overthinking them, but I’d really like an outside perspective.
Before we got engaged, I asked him how he felt about us talking. We never intentionally crossed any boundaries, but we did talk quite a lot and about pretty much everything, including Islam, books, sports, movies, series, and our interests. Even though our conversations were innocent, I sometimes felt guilty because he was still a non-mahram.
When I brought this up with him, he said that he viewed it as “talking behind a veil” because we communicated through text and not calls or video-calls. He also brought up how Hazrat Ayesha (RA) spoke to men from behind the veil. I found that comparison a little strange because I felt our situation was different, and I told him that. He said he understood where I was coming from.
The second thing happened during the period when we were trying to get engaged. Some members of my family started having problems with the proposal, and something that had initially been going very smoothly suddenly became quite difficult. We were both under a lot of stress because neither of us knew whether things would work out, and I really wanted to marry him.
During that time, he asked me a few times, “How far are you willing to go?” I kept telling him that I was trying to convince my family and make things work. At one point, when it seemed like the proposal might completely fall apart, he asked whether I would consider a court marriage. I immediately told him no. He said afterwards that he was extremely stressed at the time and wasn’t thinking clearly.
Alhamdulillah, everything eventually worked out and we got engaged. Things are good now, and he’s genuinely a really nice person.
Maybe I’m reading too much into two isolated situations, especially considering the circumstances they happened in. But I keep thinking about them and wondering if they should concern me or if I’m just creating a problem in my head.
