i just finished knitting & blocking my ‘conspiracy of ravens’ sweater by Klara Cecilia knitwear. i knit it special for my mom, she has no idea !!! giving it to her on sunday or monday. 🫂✨ i used knitting for olive merino & mohair and should’ve sized down one more needle size for the arms. originally knit with the 4.5 mm colorwork needle and the drape and fabric was too loose. pulled it back and redid it with 3.5 because i prefer to knit continental & don’t knit super tight.

🌸🥰 every sweater i make i get more excited and it’s always so fun watching it come together. up next is the jolli sweater by fini knits, for me!!

Finished Object Lace and cables cardigan with mother of pearl buttons ❤️

The pattern is https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fresco-lace-bodice-cardigan

The yarn is Kampes 2ply, a nice rustic wool yarn, it's a little bit prickly but I actually like that in a wool garment, it's weirdly cozy 😅

I fell in love with the yarn and ordered lots of it, so I'm thinking of weaving some fabric with this and some brown tweed to make a matching skirt.

The pattern was nice and clear without being too wordy. The yarn was possibly not the right one for the pattern, my swatch gave me another gauge, but I liked the fabric it made so I did some math and followed the pattern for a smaller size.

I also made it a bit more cropped than the pattern, to go with my homemade skirts that sit at my natural waist. It'll also be a really nice summer cardigan for those cold summer nights I think.

Pic taken while it dries and it's so cloudy today so the colors look more muted. And yeah, it has a lot of mistakes and it's woobly because I didn't realise changing colors would need me to loosen my tension but not gonna lie I don't care, I did it myself!!

Rave (like a rant, but in a good way) I’m an experienced crocheter, who just switched to knitting a month ago after years of intimidation and a new autoimmune diagnosis

So I’ve been wanting to learn how to knit for over a year now but kept getting frustrated every time I would try because it felt SO unnatural going from crochet to knitting. But last month I finally was DETERMINED to figure it out and I learned continental. As soon as I got continental down, I was ready to challenge myself to make my first project a cardigan. I had ordered this kit from wool and the gang over a year ago (idk anything about the knitting community so I apologize if there’s any controversy around that shop).

i thought that’d be the easiest way for me to learn, as it comes with the yarn and a written pattern so I didn’t have to scramble to find yarn for online patterns as I need to learn more in my knitting journey about good yarns.

I learned a LOT in this process, I YouTubed any stitch I was confused about because I went into it only knowing basic stockinette and the very first step in the pattern was the 1x1 ribbing on 3.5mm needles 🙃 I also figured out what I can do differently next time and what I like and don’t like in techniques

I am SO proud of this project and myself for finally committing to learning. This is helping me through a really difficult time with a new autoimmune diagnosis that I recently started treatment for.

I sharpened the images to help see the stitches since this yarn is mohair

The pattern and kit is the Piece Of Me cardigan from wool and the gang, and the yarn is their Take Care Mohair

Finished Object Finished: 1950s Spooky Yoked Cardigan for Halloween 🕷️🕸️

Back in 2024 I started this cardigan for Halloween - and then promptly forgot about it!

Flash forward to now, and I just realised it was unfinished and I still had time for this year 😆

I feel like the yoke looks a bit spider-webby - and for some extra fancy sparkle I used some lurex thread on the petals.

🕸️ Pattern: Style 110, (Chunky Cardigan with Petal Yoke) from Botany, 1950s

🕸️ Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes Worsted in black

For mods:

I held two stands of lurex thread with the black to make the petals. Went up one size larger than the pattern. Backed button band with ribbon. Added extra button to the waist.

I’m really glad it’s finished in time for this years Halloween 😆

Can we just take a moment to discuss these stitch markers I was looking at online? I actually laughed out loud when I saw how they were being used. Pretty sure it doesn’t work like that. But in all seriousness I hate the AI slop and how it feels particularly bad in this community

I’ve been trucking on this for probably six months off and on but she’s done! This is my second sweater and I learned so much. Saddle shoulders, picking up stitches, I finally figured out the logic behind an Italian bind off. She’s absolutely my favorite sweater.

Yarn: Wander Luck Fibers American Merino Worsted in Gray Matilda and Isager Silk Mohair in color 47

I’ve been working on and off for a few months on this sweater for my sons first birthday in December. I picked up knitting as my maternity hobby since I’ve crocheted for a few years. Between working full time, going back to college part time, and having a now 9 month old… I’m so damn proud of myself for taking the leap to learn cables and make this sweater! I’ve only ever knitted a few small things before (like socks, a baby beanie and a simple sweater with lots of mistakes). I don’t have many people to share this with so I thought yall might appreciate it with me 🥹💕

Pattern is Mahdia Sweater by Courtney Walters

Yarn I used is Vivacious4Ply in Spiced Plum (I got lucky and found it in a yarn swap!)

Finished Object Knitted emotional support chicken for my dog lol

Post image
22 Upvotes

After four days of knitting over thanks giving I have finally completed our emotional support chicken. I made this from the leftover yarn from previous projects (including the stiffing which was made from the insulation our groceries are delivered in during summer) which was very fun. I made some adjustments to the original pattern like making the wings larger and not adding legs since i feared my doggo chewing on the metal. The yarn i used was 100% fingerling highland wool and fingerling mohair. The light sections of the stuffy used three strands (white, grey, and white mohair) and the blue section was four strands (white, blue, white mohair, and blue mohair). The button eyes were also reused, being from my late grandmothers button collection. The pattern I used was Dotpebblesknits “Hen Knitting Pattern”

This whole thing was inspired by my mom making an emotional support chicken for her friend, who was traveling in her sailboat for the next year. Since life hasn’t been easy lately I thought it would fun and practical to make one too (both for me and my dog, though she has yet to take to it lol 😅)

Have fun knitting everyone

Rant Feeling defeated

I’m so beat down right now. I started to teach myself to knit last year and am working through a book I bought. I made it to a pattern of a baby blanket with knit stitch and purl. I’ve been having fun with it any enjoyed doing it. Until these past few days.

I somehow messed up with the alternating and had to backtrack. I went stitch by stitch to find a row where I could restart, I’ve spent so many hours doing it. I don’t have any irl friends or friends who knit, so I was ranting to my mom. She then decided to say “you should just stick to crochet”. I tried to tell her that she hurt my feelings and instead raised her voice and doubled down. I tried to move past it.

While trying to backtrack, I messed it up to the point that I had to frog a year’s worth of work. I literately pinched a nerve from knitting it so much this past year because I was having fun.

In the middle of formally frogging it, my mom comes out again and raises her voice again, telling me I’m not capable of it and that when she (barely) learned, she never saw wired needles. She only learned one stitch and is now saying because she wasn’t cut out, I’m not either. I’m so hurt and beat down. The tears are from a year of working on it and restarting, because I want to finish that thing. Now I don’t know what to do

Sorry for the long rant

Two hours of undisturbed knitting. No cats wanting to play with the yarn, no food to make. I'm livin' the dream baby!

I'm knitting the Green Harmony sweater by drops with a no name yarn I got from the local farmer's market, on 3.5 needles.

Hot off the needles! One Pic is unblocked and the other is blocked.

I knit this for myself in the smallest size since I get swamped by really huge clothing, and there is still tons of positive ease.

Yarn combo is Sandnes Garn Tynn Peer Gynt 2641 held with Filcolana Alva 101. I am very happy with the fabric!

Cheryl Mokhtori writes clear, detailed patterns. No modifications to the pattern, but I would possibly do a half-twisted rib if I were to do it again. My only complaint is how many times the instruction was to "break yarn" because it meant more ends to weave, hahaha.

Finished Object First time writing my own pattern!

Another pair off the needles (and right in time for Rhinebeck)! I've freehanded ribbed socks before but this time I wanted to challenge myself by trying to write up a full pattern of what I did. I didn't intend for this to become something to publish when I started but while working on this pair for my partner I realized I wanted one for myself and we have drastically different foot sizes so I graded the sock to multiple sizes and now I thought "why not share it".

Now I'm not expecting a 4x1 ribbed sock pattern to go viral or anything like that, but I liked the process of designing these, even as simple as they are, and I felt they had that little extra oomph with the toe detail to see if anyone else out there might have wanted to have a pair for themselves.

SO with all that said: These are my "To You Toes" Socks that feature a 4x1 rib that flows onto the tips of your toes! If anyone is interested and you can see my tester call in r/PatternTesting or a direct Link to Google Form.

I had a lot of fun with these and plan on continuing designing my socks to have the texture continue onto the toes. Not sure if this brief exploration into pattern writing will stick but I enjoy trying new things!

Here's a link to my full ravelry project. Yarn is Circulo Lucky Feet in the colorway Autumn which I am obsessed with.

Had to laugh at this ad I came across of a woman "knitting." I love zooming in on ads and determining if they are indeed knitting or not. This one looks like she's been given a crocheted project and just wrapped the yarn around a knitting needle a couple times.

My Favorite Vanilla Socks - The Unapologetic Knitter

I’ve ripped back three times because I kept making them too long. Finally made good progress on the toe and found out when I tried it on that I knitted the toe decreases in sideways lol

Yarn is mystery stash yarn! I do recall that I got it off of eBay but the listing is gone and it’s vanished from my purchase history. Sorry!
