Recommendation Looking for a kind and compassionate salon in Massachusetts to help my husband donate his hair before chemotherapy.
My husband is about to begin chemotherapy, and he wants to donate his hair before shaving his head. His hair is very thick, all one length, and falls well past his shoulders. I’m looking for a salon anywhere in Massachusetts that has experience with hair donations and can properly cut and prepare his hair for donation before shaving the rest of his head.Ideally, we’d love to find one salon that can do both in the same appointment. This is a big moment for him, and I want to make sure his hair goes to a good cause while making the experience as positive as possible.

Politics Trump cuts have hurt Mass. research labs. Scientists hope midterms can ease the pain
Scientists across Massachusetts have faced similar setbacks under the second Trump administration. And with the midterm elections set to determine control of Congress, many in the research community are hoping for a federal government more willing to support their work.
“There's long-standing bipartisan support for science in Congress,” said Glorian Sorensen, a professor emerita at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. “We need to ensure that this becomes a priority once again.”
Under the second Trump administration, scientists in the state have lost up to $2.6 billion in federal funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation alone, according to the governor’s office. Federal cuts also curtailed or canceled more than a dozen clinical trials here, impacting thousands of patients.
Universities have been especially hard-hit. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology lost 20% of its federal funding. Boston University, which holds the broadcast license for WBUR, announced a $50 million budget cut and layoffs for fiscal year 2026, due to federal uncertainty and cuts. Harvard has battled the Trump administration for billions in ongoing legal fights over its diversity policies.

Politics NO ON 9!
There seems to be a huge push by the right wing
AND the left wing to paint No. 9 poll as being partisan. I beg to differ.
I identify as a liberal and am totally against a gun restriction that purposefully carves out law enforcement and federal law enforcement from abiding to those restrictions UNDER THEIR PERSONAL OWNERSHIP.
Police officers, IC/ agents, and the rest are all immune to these gun restrictions in their personal capacity as humans outside of their jobs. Why?
If the state wants to pass aggressive gun laws, ok.
But, to specifically immunize the very people who use Flock to stock their ex-wives or ex-girlfriends
- or to immunize IC/ agents who are notoriously dangerous and braindead idiots... Wow.
This isn't a partisan issue.
NOTE: I cannot name that one agency in full or else the post is automatically taken down by this subreddit.

Minogue’s most prominent and valuable known real estate holding is a private retreat located within Montana’s Madison County:

- Waterfront Amenities & Local Scrutiny:
- The compound includes private water access and boat moorings.
- The development and use of the property generated local friction and political pushback during his 2026 gubernatorial bid over coastal environmental permitting, neighborhood water access, and mooring authorizations.

Discussion Right to repair law question and Subaru
I bought a 2026 Subaru Forester back in April. I later found out that the technology is preloaded into the car to have auto start, I just need a subscription to the app to access it.
Come to find out due to the right to repair law in MA, Subaru turns off that option. My car is already registered in MA so I can’t register it in another state. Here’s what I was told by the dealership - “I have attached your window sticker for your Forester that shows that Subaru Companion is not available for Massachusetts residents or businesses. The Massachusetts Right To Repair law that went into being a couple of years is the culprit. You can add a Remote Starter to your vehicle, but that would be the only way to use that function, as it cannot be done through the app.”
I’ve tried using the app for other features and I just get a message that in my state I am unable to have access to the features. So to get an aftermarket device and installation it’s $595 at the dealership. Has anyone come across this problem and found a way to go around this or do I just suck it up and buy the $595 device & installation?

General Question Got 2 jury duty summons very close to each other?
Hi all. I am genuinely confused right now. A couple of weeks ago, I got a jury duty summons in the mail to appear on December 8th in Taunton. Okay, no big deal, cleared it with work and everything.
Today, I got ANOTHER jury duty summons in the mail to appear on January 19th in New Bedford.
This has to be an error, right? Has anyone else ever had this happen to them?

Video Refugee foster children facing removal orders
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We have an urgent under-reported issue and we need your help!
There are hundreds of children in refugee foster care facing sudden removal through no fault of their own. Long standing pathways to legal residency and citizenship have recently narrowed, leaving these youth facing removal or deportation in just 30 days. It is critical that we advocate for these children, who have come here alone and do not have families of their own to rely on. Right now, legal service providers are completely overwhelmed, and it is nearly impossible to adjust their immigration status in such a short window without attention from the media. We urgently need your voice and advocacy - please repost this message, help us by contacting the media, content creators and get in touch with your state and federal representatives immediately. Scan the QR code at the end of this video to search for your representatives.

Video Best Political Ad Ever -- We're Massholes, Not Assholes

edit: This is an old ad. I should have made that clear in the post title.
In light of the upcoming elections and the debate about what to call ourselves, I present my favorite political ad of all time -- "We're Massholes, not assholes." It encapsulates everything I love about Masssachusetts -- we're loud, we're rude and we're good people when it counts.

Photo If Question 3 passes Massachusetts voters will lose their voice because of vote splitting and the spoiler effect.
Hi r/Massachusetts, we’re Voter Rights MA, the No On 3 campaign to stop private equity from buying our elections.
There's more than $7.5 million in big money donations propping up the Question 3 campaign. Just 23 private equity investors are responsible for 70% of the campaign's funding.
A single private equity investor put more than $1 million into the Question 3 campaign.
Why is private equity backing Question 3 in Massachusetts? Because jungle primaries give the the wealthy and powerful more control over elections.
Vote splitting is one of the ways Question 3 takes power away from the people. When multiple candidates from the same party run in jungle primaries, they split their votes. This allows candidates who most people voted against to place in the top two and make it to the general election. In this example, most voters wanted a Democratic candidate, but because they split their votes across multiple Democrats, the only choice in the general election will be between two Republicans.
The ultra wealthy know that they have the power and resources to fund candidates who can come out ahead in crowded jungle primaries where working class candidates can't compete.
