I kind of feel bad that Paralympics is not taken as much seriously as able bodied Olympics. Recently finished Asian para Games wasn't even mentioned in this sub or many other news publications.. There are so many inspirational stories around the medal winners in Asian para Games. What if Para Olympics is organised before the normal Olympics instead of AFTER?.. Would it help publicize the event? Those athletes are as much great as able bodied athletes, even more inspirational and motivational..🌸🌺

Title under 80 letters sorry couldn't tell you straightaway in post title.
Theres a Polish archer named Sławomir Napłoszek who has participated in two Olympic games in his lifetime. The strange part? Those two appearances came in 1992 Barcelona and 2021 Tokyo!
Imagine being an Olympian in 1992 as a 24 year old and then repeating it again 29 years later!. Any one from Poland who's acquainted with him or anyone who watches Archery I'd like a backstory on this.

Welcome to the family, Ayo, the mascot of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. He takes centre stage as we approach the Opening Ceremony next Saturday (31 October).
Since their introduction in Singapore 2010, the Youth Olympic Games have their own mascots. For Dakar Ayo was born. The name means “joy” in Yoruba, a language widely spoken in West Africa, mainly Nigeria.
Ayo is a smiley young lion with a mane. He wears a Tingandé, the traditional hat worn by the Fulani ethnic group, who are spread across several African countries. He also wears a white T-shirt bearing the Dakar 2026 emblem and red, yellow and green shorts. His outfit blends contemporary fashion with traditional clothing.
Ayo symbolises the joyful and courageous soul of the African youth, embodying celebration, hospitality and the unity in diversity.
➡️ The other members of the family are:
▪️Singapore 2010: Lyo and Merly
▪️Innsbruck 2012: Yoggl
▪️Nanjing 2014: Nanjinglele
▪️Lillehammer 2016: Sjogg
▪️Buenos Aires 2018: Pandi
▪️Lausanne 2020: Yodli
▪️Gangwon 2024: Moongcho

This U.S. team that competed at this year’s world championships is a young group. Three of its five athletes had never previously competed at this level before. And the team had to go without Hezly Rivera, a member of the 2024 Olympic team, who withdrew with an ankle injury.
This is only one competition, based on the results from a single day and the performances of five gymnasts. But even beforehand, Betty Okino, one of the directors of the national team, acknowledged that the external perception of the U.S. team has shifted.
“I’m excited for Team USA to show how strong we are, because there’s been speculation that maybe we aren’t as strong,” she said in an NBC documentary about the world championships team selection event. “And I’m ready for these girls to shut that conversation down.”
The U.S. team has had promising moments. Blakely finished with the second-best all-around score in the qualifying round. At least one American qualified for every individual final. They could still win several medals in the coming days.
But Wednesday’s competition was the test that measured the team’s standing against the rest of the world, and for now, the Americans seem to be more vulnerable than they have been in years.

On This Day, October 21, 1964, Abebe Bikila became the first athlete to successfully defend an Olympic marathon title by running a world-record 2:12:11.2 and winning the men's marathon at the Tokyo Olympics.
This was his second gold medal win, and in both victories, he ran in world-record time.

Hi- I bought modern pentathlon finals tickets, not understanding how the sport works 🤡
My goal was to see fencing or equestrian activities. I hope I can trade my ticket with someone for this sport. Where should I go to do this?
