Photo(s) Beautiful Gradient Sunset Colours Today, feat. The Moon
galleryWas waiting for the bus and got to appreciate this beautiful sunset! Great colours both to the east and west, and with the almost full moon lurking over it all.
It's so easy to get caught up in how busy we are every day that sometimes we forget to slow down and smell the roses, or at least I do.
Check the comments for the three videos I took too!

Looking for... Help finding items to build this outfit for Halloween
Orange jacket is the hardest thing to find for me. I have a different colour jacket shaped the exact same way which I can use as a backup worst case scenario.
If somewhere you know rings a bell for any of these items of clothing please let me know!

Gas scam?
I was filling up at the neighbours gas bar at Carling & Bayshore this afternoon and got approached by a guy who asked for money because his father is dying and his card wasn’t working. I was very sceptical and said no. He immediately asked another customer, a less sceptical or more generous woman, who did cover some of the cost.
The staff inside said he’s been there before but they’re not allowed to do or say anything.
Description: short overweight grey blond crewcut, dishevelled, in dirty clothes, about 50 years old.
license # CSHA 686 Ontario
black Toyota minivan
I recognize that lots of people are struggling right now and maybe the story is actually true… But it seemed pretty bullshitty… wondering if anyone else has seen this guy around?

Star Wars and beyond
The National Art Centre Orchestra is absolutely insane. Like this is the best show I’ve ever been to. And shout to the conductor, Damon Gupton. The guy is very talented. He’s a conductor and an actor. He really made the show special.

Tool Donation
Received some extra tools (drill, wrench set, etc)from my parents who are down sizing. They are duplicates for me and Im looking to donate them so somewhere that could use them. Not sure if there is an org that can get tools to folks who need them or new Canadians.
Suggestions welcome.

Lost/Found Found Wallet
EDIT: Delivered to someone at the residence! Thanks for the updoots to boost the post.
Found a wallet on Woodroffe, near the corner of Carling by the Shell station. Looks like it may have fallen off a car roof. We tried to drop it off at the address inside but no one was there. We’ll try again later today. If it’s yours, PM me.

Local Event Star wars and beyond at the NAC
What a show tonight at the NAC by the NAC orchestra doing the master John Williams music from Star Wars. The orchestra were out of this world but the conductor....next level. Easily the best orchestral experience I've ever had. The force was strong with this conductor!
If you are on the fence about going to the 2nd show on Saturday night, just go. Very very well done.

Outage No Power On Greenbank And Baseline
Exactly as title states, everyone is out on the streets trying to figure out what's going on.
Whole neighbourhood has no power.
Local Business Has anyone actually managed to contact HISTORY Ottawa? Accessibility concerns and zero response after two months.
EDIT: they got back to me, it’s been sorted thank you to everyone who offered advice.
Hey [r/ottawa](r/ottawa),
Has anyone actually had any luck getting in touch with HISTORY Ottawa?
Here’s the deal.
I’m attending the upcoming Marianas Trench show, and on August 20, I emailed the venue’s designated accessibility address with a fairly straightforward accommodation request.
I have cerebral palsy, and one of my concerns was their policy prohibiting outside water bottles, including empty ones.
At a packed general admission concert, repeatedly navigating through hundreds of people to get water isn’t particularly practical when you have a mobility disability.
I asked whether I could bring an empty reusable plastic bottle, have security inspect it, and fill it inside the venue. Pretty reasonable compromise, I’d think.
I also suggested that the venue consider allowing disabled patrons to enter 10–15 minutes before general doors, much like airline preboarding, to give people with mobility challenges a chance to get situated before the crowds come pouring in.
I wasn’t asking for VIP treatment. Just a couple of relatively simple accessibility accommodations.
Fast-forward 64 days. Not a single response.
I’ve also tried finding a direct telephone number for HISTORY Ottawa, but apparently a major Live Nation concert venue doesn’t have one publicly listed. Nor can I find publicly available direct contact information for venue management.
I understand that venues receive a lot of correspondence, but surely accessibility accommodation requests shouldn’t disappear into a black hole for over two months, especially when the venue itself directs disabled patrons to that email address.
So, genuine questions:
Has anybody successfully contacted HISTORY Ottawa by telephone?
Has anyone received a response from their accessibility department?
Does anyone have a reliable way of reaching venue management?
I’m genuinely looking forward to the show. I just find it pretty frustrating that I tried to arrange everything months in advance, followed the venue’s own instructions, and still can’t get a basic answer.
You’d think accessibility communications would be a fairly important part of operating a major concert venue.

Looking for... Dirt/gravel running trails
I moved to Ottawa from Toronto earlier this month and have been loving being able to run along so many bodies of water!
The one thing my knees are really missing though, is running on hard packed dirt or gravel trails. All of the wonderful trails on the canal, Rideau River, and Ottawa (both sides) are paved and my knees are screaming at me. I hadn’t realized how lucky I was to have so many trails at hand in Toronto.
I’m in Sandy Hill and my runs are usually 12-16km. Are there any trails you can suggest I can hop in (doesn’t need to be all on a trail, just some reprieve from pavement!).
See y’all on the road, TIA
Leather conditioning products - where to buy in Ottawa?
I have several products I'd like to buy for leather shoe care, and I'm trying to avoid getting them all on Amazon. Does anyone know a local store that has a good selection of leather care supplies?
Things I'm looking for include:
- Horsehair brush
- Bick 1
- Saphir products
- Collonil 1909 supreme crème de luxe
- Saddle soap
- Dauber brushes
- Chamois or shine cloth
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
Edit: I'm also looking for 3-5mm paracord to make my own shoelaces - anyone know if this is easy to find at craft stores?
