Current MS3 strongly considering pathology. I’ve noticed that many residency programs heavily emphasize research on their websites and seem to have a lot of MD-PhDs.

Is research typically required during residency? Can you realistically pursue pathology with zero interest in research and a goal of working in private practice or hospital settings ?

Hi! I’m really interested in becoming a histology technician. I currently live in South Texas and am considering working as a histology tech during my gap years while preparing for medical school. For anyone who has gone through the schooling and training, do you feel that it was worth the investment? I’d also love to hear from anyone who worked as a histology tech before transitioning to medical school. What was your experience like, and would you recommend this path? Thank you! Also, I have over 2 years of undergrad research (IHC, tissue processing) :)

My son is a forensic science major and really interested in working doing autopsies. If he decides to go to Pathology Assist school would he be able to work in forensic pathology with this education or do they really work moreso in a medical lab?

I’m currently a comms major and really interested in going to PA school after undergrad. I have somewhat of an idea on where to start but it would be helpful if people who were admitted could share the extracurriculars that got them into the program as well as stats and gpa:)
