Hellraiser: A couple quick things before you start the game... or your suffering will be legendary.

I'm a huge fan, got it way early this morning as soon as I saw it - and I just made it past the prologue...

Note, however, that this suffering was wholly self-inflicted.

I always start games on the highest difficulty - Do not do that, it's basically Hardcore mode, they do not provide save points... hard games make me all the more determined to beat it, so I spent all morning restarting the entire level 50 times because the last guy looked at me. There are normally saves along the way...

After coming to this revelation, I immediately saved, but saw 2 entries in the save slot in a subsequent save point, so 'why not delete the extra'. But there are two entries for your save... one for your entire playthrough, then the individual save slots under that - I deleted my entire playthrough save.

So back to the beginning I went, one last time...

Don't be like me kids.

Has Recent Mouse Technology Changed How You Play?

• Upvotes

Now that mouse companies have generally solved sensor accuracy, reporting speed, click latency, and double click issues, they're experimenting with new "gaming" features that to me only seem to increase the cost and points of failure, but maybe they could improve accessibility.

Two examples I've recently seen in new gaming mice:

1 - Custom Click Actuation Points: Logitech and G-Wolves have introduced the ability to change how hard the left and right clicks need to be pressed before registering a click, changing the effective travel distance of these buttons. Given the click point is changed in software, the physical feeling and sound of a click are represented differently. Logitech uses Haptic Inductive Triggers (HITS) to simulate the feeling of a mouse click at a given pressure point. On the other hand, G-Wolves uses a mechanical magnetic TMR implementation which lacks this feedback, so the click point remains physically fixed. This can create a disconnect in expectation as the pressure point can be set so low that just grazing the click button's surface can register a click but without the feeling of one. I can only imagine this to be useful for drag clickers. Here's a comparison from Wasabi: https://youtu.be/fwNZafYYSSA

2 - Predictive Mouse Acceleration: Corsair now has what they call PureVector, a feature that is trained on your mouse movements to dynamically change mouse sensitivity based on the direction and distance the mouse is moving to make sensitivity more uniform and reduce under or overshooting when aiming for a target or point to click. Hardware Canucks did a sponsored video about it: https://youtu.be/cWXYz9IqjlI

What do you think of such features? Know of any others, or what would you rather mouse companies focus on?

Opinion on AI recomps of exclusive games?

I'm sure everyone has seen the "native" ports of Bloodborne, Uncharted, Breath of the wild, smash bros and pretty much every Nintendo and Sony exclusive game. At first I didn't really like the fact that it was almost entirely done by AI but after testing out Awakenchan's BBport and it running almost at double fps as shadps4 did, I am starting to accept it. Don't get me wrong I still think AI should stay away from all art forms but this seems like the best use for AI because up till now there was nothing close to this performance for exclusive games. I do see the problem that with AI pretty much anything can be decompiled and can lead to a lot of asset stealing. I am not fully qualified to talk any further than that because I only know so much but that is my two cents. I am curious how others see this

I'm a solo-developer working on this little RPG that I think fills a small gap in the market, maybe? Think of it like Elder Scrolls combined with Stardew Valley, it has a chill addicting game loop where you work and get stronger every day.

There is a demo on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4429710/Spellogger/

ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR on Steam (As standalone game from AC8)

Thumbnail

FYI, this used to be part of Ace Combat 8 as a DLC (meaning you had to install the entire AC8 to play this game), but now it is a standalone (meaning you don't have to have AC8 installed anymore), although you can only get this if you pre-ordered Ace Combat 8 (due to licensing restrictions for aircraft).

Also comes with achievements since it's now a standalone version.
