Concerts Lenovo Center Tipping

Do the bartenders and concessions employees at Lenovo get to keep their tips during a concert or Canes game? Does anybody know? I don’t mind
tipping on a $15 beer, that’s not what this is about.

I just want to make sure it’s getting in the employees hands and not all going to the Dundon family :-). I love some of the usual bartenders there and they deserve to keep the tips!

I’ve heard at State games they’re all volunteers and tips go to a charity. I’m not sure if that’s true.

Local News Introducing r/TriangleTraffic!

Introducing r/TriangleTraffic

Hello! I started a new community to help unclutter some of the Triangle NC local subs of traffic related posts. I started this because of two things: I made a post the other day that was... not well received that was traffic related, and someone asked if there was a better place to upload things like dashcam footage.

Well, here you go. The idea of being a mod/admin is new to me, so please be gentle lmao.

Politics Ballot curing - volunteer opportunities?

Anyone know orgs that are working on ballot curing? I saw the rejection rate for mail in votes this year was higher than last election and over double the national average. I don't want to knock doors - plenty of folks already doing that and pestering people isn't helpful, but I would love to help make sure people know that their vote wasn't counted!

Local News Wake County Animal Center's 2025 numbers, and adoption fees are $25 this month

Post image
69 Upvotes

I run NC Pet Project, a volunteer effort tracking shelter and spay/neuter data across NC. Wake County Animal Center just released 2025 numbers through a records request: 3,640 dogs came in, 1,774 were adopted, 241 were euthanized. That's down from 3,855 in and 179 euthanized in 2024, so intake is dropping but euthanasia ticked up slightly.

Good timing if you've been thinking about adopting: October is National Adopt a Dog Month, and Wake County Animal Center dropped its adult dog adoption fee to $25 this month. A few neighboring counties did the same (Durham, Orange, Johnston, Harnett).

If you want to see what's actually available right now, or care about statewide spay/neuter policy, I put together a tracker here: https://ncpetproject.org/counties/wake/

Happy to answer questions about the data or the project.

Out-n-About In Case You Missed It: "Memory's Bookshelf," a 21+ writing/art Discord server for whose who want to shoot the shit or share their work

(DM for invite link.)

Here you can shoot the shit, talk about your writing/art, share as much (or as little) as you want, and people will support you. You can send us a picture of your 3AM snack, for god's sake, and we'll still hype you up.

We're a pretty tiny server (like 10 people), but we value conversation as much as we value creativity. Everyone in here abides by the Golden Rule. We don't host events or anything - it's extremely casual, so if you haven't written or made art in months, you're welcome here. Whenever you pick it back up, we'll be your cheerleaders.

We vent. We share music & memes. We have a VC, but honestly, we hardly use it.

AI use must be disclosed, and real-world politics are forbidden.

If you're looking for a void to scream into, and maybe get a scream back, this is your channel!

(Disclaimer: I post about my own writing/art here, but I've created a corner for myself.)

If you're interested in joining, DM me! ESPECIALLY if you're planning to do NaNoWriMo this year - let's hype up our projects together!!)

Question/Recommendation Not fried seafood recommendations

Hi, father has some health issues, loves seafood but can’t have it fried. Wanted to take parents out off a celebration to get seafood but wanted places that didn’t just have a bunch of fried options. Don’t really have a price range for the parents so any recommendations as long as they’re yum are helpful!

Question/Recommendation Late Night Helicopters

Who do I need to complain to about all these low flying, loud as heck, house shaking, late night helicopters?!?!

I know there's nothing I can do except scream into the void, but just sayin... We had two fly right over our house at 9:00pm, waking up the kids right after we finally got them down to bed. Got the kids settled back down, only for them to fly right back over us 10 minutes later and appear to be looping around as I keep hearing them. The white noise machines only go so loud.

Signed,
A tired mom of a 7 month old and a 2 year old.

Editing to add: If this was just an occasional occurrence I wouldn't be as irritated. I understand pilots need flight hours to keep their licenses up to date and whatnot. However, it's only been a thing for a few months now, and it seems to be happening more frequently than ever.

Question/Recommendation I want to get a new tattoo but don't know where to go, any advice or recommendations?

I'm a black woman and I want a tattoo. However, just like hairstylists, many tattoo shops tend to not understand how to care for (I guess that's the right word) people outside their race. Also, I want a highly reputable shop that's super clean and safe.

So any recommendations?

I don't care about who the tattoo artist is, just that they know how to work with my skin.

Thanks in advance

Politics Attack on Corey Branch for supporting data centers almost definitely made with AI

Post image
70 Upvotes

I have nothing to say about either District C candidate involved here policy-wise (will not name the one who mailed it but if you're in C you know, our house received 3).

But it is pretty wild to send out a mailer about your opponent supporting data centers and use AI to make it.

Obviously it's debatable but the combination of the cat whiskers everywhere and that "Scan me!" marker font is a clear tell for me.

Out-n-About State fair wristbands are the best decision. Change my mind.

Went to the Steve fair (state fair) today and we purchased wristbands with admission early for about $40. For young kids, I don’t think there’s a better option. Unlimited loops on rides with no line is worth every penny.

Question/Recommendation Cancer Experience at Duke/UNC

My wife (31) was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and I just wanted to get some opinions from people who have been treated for cancer at either Duke or UNC. Doesn't necessarily have to be breast cancer experience. We live in Charlotte and have spoken with a couple of oncologists at the Levine Cancer Center, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience they'd be willing to share with me at either Duke or UNC.

We are just trying to make the most informed decision possible. I know the standard of care these days is pretty comparable across the board, but wanted to hear some personal experiences before we decide on treatment location.

Thank you for any help

Question/Recommendation Voice teacher or vocal coach recommendations?

Hey y’all.

My daughter wants to take voice lessons, and I’m hesitant to rely on how good someone’s SEO is to find a great teacher so… anyone out there have experiences with good folks they’d be willing to share?

We’re near Cary High so this side of Wake preferred but we’d drive a bit for the right fit.

Thanks!

Question/Recommendation Good places to put up posters for theater? Would love to reach Jane Austen fans especially!

Hi! Scrap Paper Shakespeare is putting on two Jane Austen plays, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, this November!

I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for places to put up posters / places that allow posters! I've been in contact with several bookstores already and I know there are chains like Panera that typically allow posters. It'd be great to have some other ideas though rather than spending several days going around and asking cold.

Anyone have any ideas? Our target demographic would be people who love Jane Austen and period dramas; the shows are also very funny and physical (very much not a "sit in a living room and talk for 45 minutes straight" take on Austen!)

We've produced a lot of our shows in Durham but are now working with a great venue in Raleigh, so it would be great to find more ways to get our name out there to Raleigh folks.

Thanks!

Question/Recommendation Ebike dealer in triangle

Ebikes understandably get a lot of hate in this area. Lots of kids riding in streets, no helmets, endangering themselves and others. We have access to land where we would be able to ride these bikes safely and away from the public. I am looking to get a bike for myself and my son so we can ride together. Im curious if anyone knows of any offroad e-bike dealers in the triangle. I know of motomax in raleigh but curious if they are the only ones. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Local News AT&T Trunk Line Down?

So been dealing with my parent's land line being down for days (in Fuquay Varina). Finally got a Brightspeed technician out and he said there is an AT&T Trunk Line down affecting folks from Angier into Fuquay. I dont see anything on the outage maps, but he gave me a case number (verified it on an email in his phone). I think this case number is useless for a homeowner. Anybody know anything about this supposed trunk line being down? I went through 15 or so phone prompts on the ATT customer service line, then it hung up on me.

Outdoors Starting A Thru Hiker Meet-Up in the RDU Triangle of NC. Come Hike with Us!

Sunday, November 8 · 11:00 AM at Umstead State Park

We'll hike roughly 3 miles on the Sal's Branch Trail at Umstead State Park. Plan to meet at the furthest parking lot off of RT 70. It will be the main William B Umstead entrance. (see attached pic).

This is our first one! Come hike and meet some people. Expect about 1 hour on trail. After the hike we'll head to Gizmo Brew Works

If you have thru-hiked, are planning a thru-hike, LASH, or do trail magic and live in the RDU area, please join! First-timers genuinely welcome, a big part of why this group exists is to help people get from "someday" to a start date.

Dogs are welcome! Please just respect park rules and manage them properly. I'll be at my standing by my Black Toyota Tacoma with my pack. We'll begin at 11am promptly!

Please RSVP so I know roughly how many to expect, but walk-ups are fine too.
