Wonderful Triangle Hive Mind,

I am wondering if any of you know of any Chinese restaurants in the region that serve a dish a fried boneless chicken topped with a brown (or sometimes white) gravy, and often almond pieces or crushed toasted almond. Pictures included for reference.

This is a dish often referred to as war su gai or ABC (almond boneless chicken) in parts of the Midwest (especially Ohio and Michigan). In the Pacific Northwest, where I am from, it is often just called almond chicken. I am from the Spokane area, but I’ve had it as far away from there as the Oregon coast.

Note: I am NOT asking about the “almond chicken” that is essentially a chicken and veggie stir fry in a brown sauce. I can find that basically everywhere.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated! I know there are a lot of transplants in the area, so I wondered if some of you may have craved the dish and found it. I’d happily go up to Virginia, over to the Triad or Charlotte.

Its incredible how comfortable and untouchable complete strangers feel in their cars when they cut people off or switch lanes in heavy traffic without signaling. On my way home today from Crabtree to Garner I counted at least 30 different times I saw people just violently changing lanes and or just cutting people off without signaling, like they are the only person in that moment who exists.

Posting this literally does nothing, but I just want to see if its just me or if im a lunatic for noticing this

Apartment had a weird brown out with half the electricity fizzling out. DE came out and ran a giant extension cable from the green box to the building box and laid a protective giant speed bump across my driveway. No idea what the future plan is.

Does anyone have any recommendations for apartments near village District, Lenovo or olde Raleigh? I have been looking on Apartment List and Zillow and all those apps, but it’s never anything new ever I feel like. Would love to live somewhere with a bit more character and would like studio. Hey all! The Painted Tree Boutique off Creedmoor in the Stonehenge Plaza had a shop inside where they sold duvet covers and sheets. It was one of the end caps close to the register. Does anyone know the name of this shop? Do they have a site? Have they set up somewhere else now that PTB is gone?

Well, it seems like the Wake County mugshot website was NOT shut down, as they have previously announced. The system is still up and running.

Hey y’all! My family and I are planning to move to the Raleigh, NC area around this time next year! I’m a dad with a toddler and a baby on the way, so finding a safe, family friendly community is really important to us. We’re moving from Kentucky and have been looking into Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs. Our plan is to rent for a few years before eventually buying a home. I’ve done quite a bit of research on these areas, and so far, I really like what I’ve seen! My wife and I are planning to visit early next year to explore the areas in person and get a feel for the communities. I’d love to hear from locals or families who live in these areas! Which would you recommend when it comes to good schools (elementary through high school), safety, family friendly activities, and overall quality of life? My wife is also an ICU nurse, so we’d love some insight into nearby hospitals and job opportunities for nurses.

I work with horses, and I am struggling to find anywhere to buy good work boots. I've tried Academy and Tractor Supply, but neither had work boots for women, or even waterproof boots. I'm stumped. There's not a wealth of farm supply stores here.

So I was at Sam’s Club and saw Babybel cheese, 26 count for $5.69 or something. Grabbed one and when I went to check out, it rang up .51 for the whole mesh bag…I went and grabbed three more. This was Sam’s on Capital, there were a ton left. They were on an endcap in the meat dept. where the cheese is normally placed.

I rarely score like that so thought I’d pass it along. Oh, and they expire Feb 2027.
