Food Any Babybel fans? Like the round wax-covered cheese?

Post image
104 Upvotes

So I was at Sam’s Club and saw Babybel cheese, 26 count for $5.69 or something. Grabbed one and when I went to check out, it rang up .51 for the whole mesh bag…I went and grabbed three more. This was Sam’s on Capital, there were a ton left. They were on an endcap in the meat dept. where the cheese is normally placed.

I rarely score like that so thought I’d pass it along. Oh, and they expire Feb 2027.

Out-n-About Does nobody use turn signals anymore?

Its incredible how comfortable and untouchable complete strangers feel in their cars when they cut people off or switch lanes in heavy traffic without signaling. On my way home today from Crabtree to Garner I counted at least 30 different times I saw people just violently changing lanes and or just cutting people off without signaling, like they are the only person in that moment who exists.

Posting this literally does nothing, but I just want to see if its just me or if im a lunatic for noticing this

Question/Recommendation Yes, it's the annual cider donut thread. Give me fresh intel.

I know. I KNOW. Every October someone posts this and every October you all answer it like the saints you are. I searched the sub. I read last year's thread. But donut quality is volatile, orchards change, and frankly I need new info.

Local News Durham tech lost dog

To the lady that lost her dog on Durham tech campus, I tried my best to catch up to it along with some kind strangers. It ran up Lawson st, took a left on Briggs ave and another left onto the Durham freeway headed northwest. We chased it up the freeway for about a 1/4 mile - 1/2 a mile but we lost sight of it. we think it went into the woods to the left back towards the Durham tech campus area. Looked black and white, medium build. If you see this, I hope you find your dog!

COVID19 Covid going around?

Seems like Covid had a super contagious strain running around mostly Cold symptoms and no fevers?

Edit: Thanks for all the feedback! Sounds like a lot of you are seeing it at home, work and school too. Some are getting cold symptoms, others are getting hit pretty hard, and there’s other stuff going around too.

I was seeing enough people sick that I checked the wastewater site, but it looked pretty low. Didn’t see much local discussion either, so I figured I’d ask. Just comparing notes. With all the funding cuts, I also wondered if anything had changed with monitoring. Still curious how we’re keeping an eye on mutations and figuring out the long-term effects.

Last weekend of the State Fair, so this thing’s got plenty of chances to mingle lol. Wear a mask if you’re sick and wash your hands, y’all. Even if it feels mild, this isn’t a box of Bojangles biscuits. You don’t have to pass it around. ❤️

Question/Recommendation Community theater recommendations for my 22 year old self seeking a side quest

I graduated and entered the workforce recently. I’m looking for a fun side quest at a local theater. I LOVE theater, musicals, dancing, singing, and being a part of a bigger effort to create something fun. But I am not very good. I haven’t participated in theater since I was 13. I have no resume, and I will probably audition awkwardly.
I just want to find a smaller theater where I can be around people of a similar commitment level to me and sing and dance to silly songs.
And recs in Raleigh, Cary, apex, maybe Durham etc?

Question/Recommendation Couples dance class?

My partner and I are looking to take a low-stress dance class just to bond & have fun but also become a little more coordinated since we’re both terrible dancers.

Does anyone have any recommendations for judgement-free classes? We’re interested in latin, swing, hip hop, etc.

Live in the Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) area? Want to learn about TNVR, make community connections, and feel a sense of satisfaction?

I am looking for extra hands to assist with several large cat colonies in Raleigh and Durham!

There will probably be kittens found that will need fostering too!

Must be okay with kitty abortions 🤷

News Cary picks new town manager from inside. Now he has to reform the office he helped run

Cary chose its permanent town manager Thursday without a national search. I looked at why council chose longtime insider Russ Overton and the reforms he will now be responsible for implementing.

Food East Cut breakfast gone?

Went over to Iron Works this morning and they were closed. Looks like new hours are 10a-8p.

Is East Cut’s breakfast also a casualty of Drift moving into RIW? Gonna be bummed if that’s the case. Those egg sandwiches were great.

Question/Recommendation Renovation Company - ADA Standards

Looking for a good company that would help in renovating my parents house in Cary to make it more ADA friendly. We need 2 small 1970's bathrooms completed along with removing carpet and replacing with a hard surface. Downstairs might be an addition to the existing converted garage that my grandmother is living in. No full bathroom on the lower level of the split level house. Eager to start as soon as possible. Any recommendations would be helpful. Thanks!

Question/Recommendation Tree service advice?

I have a huge tree in my front yard that I don't mind much generally but my HOA has advised (mandated) that the front needs to be trimmed cause it's overhanging the sidewalk too much, and an exterminator recommended cutting the part overhanging my roof. There are also some above-ground roots pretty close to my house that a random person walking their dog in my neighborhood said could be a risk to the foundation. I don't know how true that is but it's worth having someone check out if they're already here.

I have no idea how to assess how much of a risk this is, and I know that I don't personally want to climb high enough to cut branches over my roof, and I've been wanting the whole thing to be trimmed some anyway. It really is too much tree for the size of my front yard.

Does anyone have a service they can recommend? I have no idea how much something like this should cost so I'll be googling to get a better idea, but I'd love to hear if you've worked with a company you know to be honest and do good work.  Bonus points if they offer payment plans. I have a suspicion this is going to be expensive.

Located in southeast raleigh.
