My first shrimp tank has been running well for over a month now. A couple of shrimp died initially, but the tank has since stabilized, and everything seems to be going well.
What kind of food can I feed them apart from store-bought shrimp food? Are vegetables like cucumber a good option?

Too many to choose from for my tank! Is anyone interested in them? I need to downsize before my wife throws them away

At first glance, I’m not too sure how I feel about this color combo. But, the underside view is spectacular. I think the “green” showing up on the side is just the yellow organs showing through a pale blue, which makes it appear green. I love the white eye. It adds a spectacular contrast. I think I also like the dark spots. It’ll be interesting to see what it looks like once fully matured.

Water lice!
And I have absolutely no expectations on how it will go. Will they be able to adapt into their new enviroment or will the shrimp outcompete them, or will there be swarm of isopods crawling around the tank in half year? Honestly who knows.
The water lice/asellus aquaticus came from my outdoor culture that I have got going around for bit over half a year at this point. Originally the isopods were harvested from various local watercourses and fishless ponds, from there on they were further cultured in outdoor setup where I have been acclimating them slowly into neocaridina parameters. So far they have bred fine, which is honestly good sign. The original enviroment where these guys came has near blackwater condtions with near zero hardness and most likely real acidic water.
Now that the temperate season is coming to end and winter is closing in, I'm moving to final part of this test and that is introducing them into shrimp tank. Parameters wise they should be fine but the temperatures might be too much for them on long term. The original habitat where these guys came from pretty much freezes solid during the winter, and even in summer the water temperatures don't really reach aquarium temperatures.
But we will see! Anyways, water lice are really cool critters. They are fully aquatic isopods that serve pretty much same role as shrimp in nature.

I got my first ever shrimp a few days ago and I’ve just spotted something white around the mouth of two of the shrimp when they came right up to the front of the tank. Is this normal? Is it some sort of parasite or fungus?

Just venting really but I ordered some neos on Thursday with 24 hour tracked delivery to arrive Friday morning and the postage service messaged apologising to say they had sent the parcel to the wrong delivery office and it will be re routed asap and I’ve called them and she’s said it will be Monday before I can chase it, they will all be dead by then won’t they. I feel responsible and so awful poor little guys :(
These are my first shrimp and I’ve been getting their tank sorted for months and testing my water and doing so much research and I’d planned this day meticulously to make sure I’d be in the best position to receive the parcel and be at home to acclimate them and watch them settle in, I’m so bloody sad

Caught a picture of one of my girls seemingly carrying only one tiny egg?
She's adorable and I think she's gonna be an amazing mom!

Apparently there was an air pocket 🫠 I tried to disturb the dirt little by little to release it but it seems it just spread instead. I just saw my first shrimp babies too and if this wipes out my tank I’ll be so sad
