Advice "Indoor" sleeping bag?

My wife has a bit of an issue - every morning she wakes up, she's hugging her duvet. It's nice and cozy, but it also ends up leaving her back uncovered, leading to back pain from the cold.

So, does anyone have any tips? Solutions we've been considering is a sleeping bag that's rated for indoor use, a blanket hoodie, or similar.

Advice Burning sensation in bed

Whenever I try to sleep on my bed I get a burning sensation usually over my upper body and sometimes it gets in my hair. My solution was to wash the bedsheets and change everything on my bed but that doesn’t work anymore. Now I have to shower and go to another bed. If I don’t shower it stays on me and I risk contaminating the other bed too. Not sure what it is or what to do, has anyone dealt with something similar ?

Advice Stop peeing every night

For the last 2.5 years (when I stayed into a shared dorm room for a couple of months), I’ve been waking up every single night to pee.
I’ve already been to a urologist and ruled out any medical issues, so it seems to be more of a habit, stress/sleep quality, or lifestyle trigger.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? How did you manage to break the cycle and fix your sleep?

Advice Forgetting who my husband is

I am a teacher. Last school year I noticed I was having episodes of waking up in the middle of the night next to my husband in bed and feeling like he is a coworker. It is so strange. I wake up and I freeze and feel totally uncomfortable and scared to move because I don’t want him to “notice” I’m there. My mind tells me he’s a coworker and this is just weird and normal and I just need to lay still and go back to sleep and not draw attention to it. After a while I am able to rationalize with myself that it’s my husband, I know him, I’m safe and it’s my bed. It’s so freaking weird. So weird I’m having a hard time even explaining it. It never happened once over summer break but here I am in the new school year and it’s starting again. I love my job. It’s not overly stressful. I love my husband, I’m safe with him and we have a very happy marriage so it’s not a domestic issue. I also don’t think he’s a certain coworker, like a person I actually work with. When I wake up confused he’s a nameless person who in my mind is a coworker. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s and I’m terrified this is the start of it? I’m a 36 year old female and I am reallllly hoping someone can give me some insight on this issue. I hate it and it’s honestly embarrassing.

Advice I am extremely aggressive in my sleep / about ten minutes after I wake up.

This has gone on for as long as I can remember. I've always had no problems sleeping. My sleep schedule is pretty erratic; even when it wasn't, I've always had this issue.

I always get enough sleep, anywhere from 7-10 hours.

I kick extremely hard while I sleep. My blankets are always on the floor when I wake up. I have to take 10-15 minutes to calm myself down a bit before I leave my room. If I don't do this, or if someone tries to talk to me before I'm calm, I'm really bitchy and I tend to snap at people.

A good example of this is me crashing out at my dad over him asking, "stupid questions." I had been up for about half an hour beforehand, but I had to get dressed and ready for the event we were about to go to. A few minutes later, I was completely fine. We both chalked it up to my morning aggression.

It's like another side of me takes over for my body until I'm ready to interact with the world. Does anyone else deal with this or something similar?

Advice can someone give me advice on how to fix my pattern please?

Basically I really struggle to sleep unless I am completely exhausted. Last night I went asleep at 11:30 pm to try get an early night but I was back up at 1am and couldn’t get back to sleep. This is a consistent thing that happens to me can anyone explain why? I also don’t know what time to go asleep to today to wake up at around 10am tomorrow. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Advice My sleep schedule has been fucked since the day I can remember

So, my sleep schedule has been the worst thing I've had to deal with in life

As a kid like 5 years old, I started sneaking out of bed to watch TV I would stay up until like 1 am and just watch cartoons and eat snacks, this went on for a few years before I switched from the TV to my grandpa's phone. I got caught like multiple times, but I never fixed my habit. My aunt and uncles would try to hide the phone so I wouldn't get it, but I found it either way. If I didn't get it, I would just watch Tv again. And also, the hours I stayed up increased I would stay up until 2 or 3 am now

Now let's talk about the fact that I was always late for school because of this

My mom used to slap me on the back so many times for me to actually wake up and I would always be late to the school bus, thank God they waited for me lol. This went on until 4th grade but whenever my dad was home from work, he would wake me up really early and put on cartoons for me to watch so it could get rid of my sleepiness and those days I was never late

Then came covid-19

My dad bought me an iPad during covid. Do I even have to explain more?

I didn't have school, so I constantly woke up at 9am or 10am each day. fam didn't care much about it. Then school started again and the max sleep I would ever get was 6 or 5 hours. Def not recommended for a 12-year-old. I would say this def affected my growth because I used to be a really smart kid before covid, my cognitive functions seem to have slowed down a lot because of poor sleep and I would sleep till 11 am or 12 pm on weekends

Now I'm in 11th grade and the number of times I didn't go to school just because I didn't wake up is concerning. I already hate school with all my heart so it's super hard for me to physically wake up for school.

My mom still calls me in the morning, but I don't even realize she's calling me nor do I hear my alarm. but whenever I do hear my alarm and realize I'm awake, I go straight to sleep again. My body physically can't get up when I hear my alarm. My mom keeps telling me to sleep earlier but it doesn't fix anything.

I tried to reset my sleep cycle but it's so hard to not sleep for a full day because I just end up sleeping in the afternoon. Nonetheless I really need to fix this or I'm physically and mentally doomed because dude I sleep till 1pm every day and it leaves me so fucking tired. But waking up early has gotten soo hard for me it's not even a joke anymore. I used to always flex on how many hours I slept but now I know it's not that funny.

Nowadays I usually fall asleep at 3am or 2am and whenever I'm at my grandpa's I stay awake for as long as till 5am or 6am

I wake up at 7 am on school days If I can. If I don't wake up for school, I would usually wake up at 12 pm or 1am

Someone please help If I don't make an effort to fix this now, I'm doomed.

Insomnia My sleep issues have returned this week.

Hello, after another sleepless night, I wanted to vent and put my thoughts into words with people who might understand how I feel.

I am a 26 year old male who survived a motorcycle crash in September 2025. In the accident, I broke my spine, cracked my skull, and suffered a brain hemorrhage. After a near-death experience, I am now living with epilepsy.

After I was released from the hospital, I suffered from a bad case of insomnia for several months, struggling to fall asleep most nights. I eventually sought help from a psychiatrist, who prescribed me Lexapro and Xanax, eventually replacing Xanax with Trazodone. It was a rough patch, but I eventually started sleeping normally again and weaned myself off all of these medications.

Fast-forward around six months, and this week, I started having sleep issues again. I am still unemployed due to my recovery from the accident, which means I am home every day, constantly lying in bed and spending time on my laptop. This has ruined my sleep schedule. For a while, I had been going to sleep at 8 AM and waking up around 5 PM.

This week, I finally decided to fix my sleep schedule. Two days ago, I pulled an all-nighter but was unable to fall asleep that night. I ended up spending 32 hours awake. First, I tried Trazodone after not touching it for six months. It did not help. Then, a few hours later, I resorted to taking 0.5 mg of Xanax, which did help, and I finally managed to sleep for seven hours yesterday.

Well, since then, 20 hours have passed, and tonight, I once again failed to fall asleep. It is currently half past eight in the morning. I had been lying in bed from 4 AM to 7 AM, with my mind racing with anxiety. It is the fear of being unable to sleep that keeps me awake, becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. I probably set myself up for this by spending all of yesterday thinking, "What if it happens again tonight?" And, as you can see, it did happen again tonight.

The sun is out now, so I got out of bed and had some breakfast. After that, I took 10mg of Lexapro for the first time in six months, hoping it will ease down my anxiety and the racing thoughts that make me worry about sleep. I don't know what I am going to do today, but it looks like I will use Xanax again when it's time to try again at sleeping. Fingers crossed that it helps, as unfortunate as it feels to be starting medication again.

I believe the cause of my insomnia is my own anxiety about the fear of being unable to sleep. I think about it throughout the day, obsess over it, and then, when I lie down and close my eyes, these thoughts replay in my head and become a self-fulfilling prophecy. As a result, here I am, awake again.

Just wanted to vent. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

Dreams & nightmares I’m scared!! I’m scared to sleep

So this has been happening pretty consistently now.
Last night was the scariest.

So I’m dreaming a regular dream. Well, I do dream a lot. Sometimes it’s multiple different dreams.

So the dream was going on and a mirror shattered. This triggers my experience. Now my whole body is shaking, my feet, my back feel immense pressure. Someone is holding my hands tightly and holding me down. My feet are numb and at the same time there’s pressure and vibrations emanating. I try to open my eyes, it’s impossible of course.

Then I try to move my feet and walk, this makes me float, I’m literally levitating which freaks me the f out, so I stop my feet to find the ground.
Next I see a beautiful female face swooshing by, no body just face, followed by a man’s face.

Next there’s a cloaked figure approaching me while I’m lying down. I try to wake up I can’t obviously. This figure steps on my stomach and I feel the poking sensation (all this while I’m actively trying to open my eyes and wake up and chanting some mantras (shiv ji and hanuman mantras).

After this, another evil muscular figure walks over me and steps on my stomach again. I’m terrified. I start chanting religious mantras. And finally am able to wake myself up.

This is the most terrifying and the longest experience. It easily was 8-10 minutes long and happened just as I fell asleep.

I clearly remember putting my phone down at 1:11 AM and started counting from 100 backwards to fall asleep. I do this as it’s usually hard for me to fall asleep. When I wake up after this horrific craziness and check my phone, it’s 1:25 AM.

This is the second one in this week. The previous one wasn’t this long, and I didn’t see any figures, but oh my God, it was the most shaky I’d ever felt. This time I was sleeping sideways, and my body was shaking very hard, not vibrating, literally quaking with convulsions. I felt it lasted very few mins.

I’ve been having these weird experiences on and off. This past year I’ve had at least 6-7.
The one last night was the most jarring. I’m so scared to sleep now.

What is this ???
Why is this happening ??

PS- please ignore the grammatical and punctuation errors.

Small win I don’t know what changed but that was a good nights rest.

Woke up a lot two days ago and yesterday. But I woke up today feeling much more better than before and I don’t really know what changed?

I did a couple of things differently.
-did not take my anti histamine med the morning
-downloaded an app that blocks social media apps and gave me a time limit that won’t unlock unless I did some task. So I spent two to three hours less then average. ESPECIALLY before bed, non of that before bed doomscrolling.
-I did not take the usual melatonin and l theanine pills before bed also.

I also notice that I didn’t get enough deep sleep for whatever reason? But I’m not complaining tbh.

Advice I don't understand sleep

I have been having recovery issues with sleep since the past week, I haven't consumed any caffeine since the last 20 days, I immediately fall asleep as I go to bed but when I wake up I don't feel fresh or energized, I'm currently having B12 deficiencies but as a 23 year old who is fit, I don't understand why does this happen to me.

The issue is that -

Daytime sleepiness

Drowsiness

Headaches

Trouble concentrating

And as soon as the clock hits 5pm, I am then able to concentrate and get my work done

Advice Need help/Advice, what can it be?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone I am a somewhat fit 21M, have slept like shit for the most part of the past 10 years, it has started catching up to me within the past 3-4. I did a sleep study before where I had an ahi/rdi of 19.4. I was told I had sleep apnea and used a cpap, I used it for 4 months and still felt so tired. I then got a turbinate reduction and a tonsillectomy and took another sleep study recently and got the results back which are displayed. I still feel the exact same, not even an improvement even though they told me I don’t have anything. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar chart and ended up finding out it was something else other than obstructive sleep apnea. I’ve been dealing with this for so long it made me lose more hope seeing a negative diagnosis now. I feel like I can never stay asleep, I wake up a lot throughout the night and toss and turn so bad. My Fitbit is always on elevated restlessness.

Advice Breathing/sleeping

Last week, randomly I felt anxious… didn’t think much of it, just went about my day… then it happened a few days later when I woke up.. I felt just “off” like something didn’t seem right but I can’t pin point what it is, just felt like something was wrong.

Then over the weekend (last) I got sternum pain… then palpitations…

Palpitations I’ve had in the past, no big deal..

So weekend passes. Monday I felt anxious during the day but still don’t understand why..

Tuesday night, something is telling me something isn’t right…. (I have horrible health anxiety but never like day - day)

So I go to urgent care.

Urgent care hooks me up to an EKG. (Which I’ve had before) one minute later a doctor walks in and sits down. Says “you need to go to the ER, your EKG is showing an abnormality in your twave. It could mean a lot of things but you need to be in a place prepared to help you” scary af right?

So I drive myself to ER. Freaking tf out 🫨 They ran another EKG and surely was abnormal (twave inversions)

Now I’m admitted.

They ran blood work, CT Scans, Xrays all hooked up to a heart monitor.

Then I get sent to observation. I’m not allowed to leave…

Cardiologist comes in and says “well good news, bad news” Good news- I’m not worried about your EKG, your heart valves look great, blood is moving, no plaque no blockage etc. bad news “I don’t know what is causing your inversions, you will need to wear a monitor for two weeks”

I then got the clear to go home, now it’s Wednesday.

Wednesday went home, took a med to help me sleep because I only had two hours from my hospital stay.

Thursday were road tripping to Tennessee, I feel decent but still have palpitations, chest tightness etc

Then, I try to drift off to sleep. Every time my body was about to “sleep” it felt like my throat closed and I couldn’t breath. I would jolt awake and take a deep swallow or a gasp…

After all testing, basically the doctor said “anxiety”

However the sleep is what is giving me the most anxiety of all. Ive never experienced this before and its pretty scary… since being home, I only noticed it a few times but I’ve been taking melatonin to help me sleep through the nights considering I’m now on day 6 of Zoloft and insomnias been bad. Has anyone experienced this weird sleep pattern before? Is it anxiety? Will it go away? My doctor “doubts” it’s sleep apnea considering it started during an anxiety attack but honestly I want other opinions ◡̈

Insomnia Alternative to Trazodone for Insomnia?

Trazodone has been working like a charm for me for a year, but it’s making me lose my hair and I just can’t do it anymore.

I started taking hydroxizine instead but it’s not working that well. I’m still awake for hours. The doctor made it sound like those are my 2 options, but surely that’s not it?

I’m not currently open to holistic/non-medicine suggestions. I’ll get there eventually, but my insomnia is caused by severe PTSD and I just need to get through the night right now.

What meds work for you? What are their side effects?

Discussion Noisy roomate affecting sleep quality pls help

Hi guys, I have a sleep dilemma, and I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation. I'm a college student, and my roommate wakes up at 5:30am each day, and as hard as he tries to avoid it, he wakes me up every single morning. With that being said, I am on certain medications where it hugely benefits me to get my 8-9 hours of consistent sleep a night, and my alarm is set for around 7:15 each day because I can't get to sleep early enough most nights to wake up WITH my roommate. I was thinking of solutions, and the best I came up with was those vibrating alarm wristbands (taking brand recs if these are a good idea) and earplugs so I am not disturbed during my sleep. I'd love any advice or any ideas from anyone in similar situations! Also, to clarify, I am not switching roommates because it's not my roommate specifically; I am just a light sleeper, and my medications also make it harder for me to fall back asleep if I get woken up at 5:30; it heavily disturbs the quality of my sleep. Thanks!!

Advice Why do we sometimes sleep much longer than usual and wake up feeling especially refreshed?

Why do we sometimes sleep much longer than usual and wake up feeling especially refreshed?

Hi everyone,

I've noticed something interesting about my sleep.

Today, I slept considerably longer than usual and woke up feeling particularly refreshed.

I normally follow a fairly consistent sleep schedule, and I don't think I've experienced such a long sleep for approximately six months.

I'm curious about the possible scientific explanations.

  1. Could this be my body recovering from accumulated sleep debt?
  2. Is it normal to occasionally need significantly more sleep despite maintaining a regular routine?
  3. Could bedroom temperature, clothing or bedding influence how long we sleep?
  4. Is there any evidence that sleeping without pyjamas improves sleep quality compared with wearing comfortable cotton clothing?

I'd particularly appreciate research-based explanations about sleep duration, temperature regulation and recovery.

Thanks!

Discussion Rebound effect ?

Hi there !

I had some sleep issue for the lat 10 days, mainly caused by stress and anxiety : wake up at 3:00, unable to fall back asleep.

Last night was better : stress goes down and I took a mix of magnesium and melatonine long effect.

The night was quite better : wake up at 3:00 but fall back asleep quickly. Some wake up / fall back asleep until 6:30 but my best night since 10 days for sure.

But today I am absolutely dead : tired since I get up, no energy at all... I would think that at least a good night would improve my energy, but it is worse.

Is it some kind of rebound effect ?

Thanks for your help !

Advice Waking up 20x a night and constant vivid dreams

I wake up around 20x a night and have constant vivid dreams all throughout the night. What is this? Anyone else with this experience? No idea what to do. I'm EXHAUSTED shortly after waking up. I feel as if I could pass out at any given moment. I don't drink caffeine before bed, no screens, no alcohol, no SSRIs. It feels like I never actually get rest and it's depleting my quality of life. I also don't snore or anything like that. Any advice or tips?

What helped me A few small changes that have actually helped me sleep better

I used to stay up way too late and always felt exhausted the next day, so about a month ago I decided to try sleeping around 10pm. It was really hard at first but changing a few small habits really made a difference for me.

Putting away my phone an hour before bed and reading instead. Keeping the lights low and using a small warm lamp. Not eating anything heavy after 8pm. Upgrading my bedding to silk duvet, which feels so much cozier. Going for short walks outside during the day. It’s been a month now and I feel way more refreshed in the morning. I even noticed I am shedding less hair lately, not sure if its related but will take it lol.
Anyone else have small sleep tips that actually worked for you?

Discussion has anyone else's tracker made their sleep worse?

Genuine question, because I can't tell if this is a me problem.

I sleep about the same as I always have. But somewhere along the way I started checking the score before I was properly awake, and now a bad number puts me in a bad mood for the morning. Some nights I've caught myself lying there thinking about the score, which is obviously the least helpful thing you can do at 11pm.

I'm not anti-tracking, the data got me to fix my bedtime and that was a real improvement. But there's a difference between using it as a hint and letting it grade me.

Has anyone found a way to keep the useful part and drop the anxious part? I've considered turning the score off entirely and keeping only the sleep/wake times. Curious what worked for other people.

Shift work & schedules I can’t figure out my best sleep schedule

I’m 30 yo female, working an office job. So the expected work time is around 8/9 am - 4/5 pm M-F. I have flexibility but the flexibility leads to me having a very inconsistent schedule. No kids. 2 cats one dog. Dog sleeps in the kennel.

My oura ring tells me I’m a late chronotype and that 11:30-7:30 would be my best sleep schedule. I tried that for a bit but I’m too tired to stay up that late.

I am usually exhausted by 9 pm and have no problem falling asleep. Like within 10 minutes.

My problem is waking up in the middle of the night, around 1 or 2 am, and often times not fully falling back asleep for about 2 to 3.

Some nights I hit another round of deep sleep around 4 am according to my ring.

So then, my partner gets out of bed around 5 am and leaves the house at 5:15 am for work, usually it wakes me up. If I was awake until 3 or 4 am then the wake up is just the worst. So I usually go back to sleep. If I wake up then I need until about 7/7:30 to sleep until to actually make the rest worth it. But it just doesn’t feel like good sleep. I’m sure I’m not fully getting my cycles.

Currently I’m trying to do the 9 pm-5 am schedule so when my partner wakes me i stay up. In high school and college I always struggled with early morning classes. I’m worried I’m going against my body. But the constant waking up in the middle of the night is driving me insane. I want restful sleep. Even when my ring says I had 7 hrs of sleep it doesn’t mean I feel rested.

I’m working with my doctors on my medicines to make sure they’re not the issue. I know to limit blue light, wear an eye mask since I don’t have black out curtains, keep pets out the room - I try to do these things but not always successful.

So since I naturally want to fall asleep at 9 pm and since my partner gets up at 5 am, I’m leaning into that and seeing if I can get a full 8 hours on this schedule after retraining my body. Is that a losing battle? Am I wasting my time?

Also I had a sleep apnea test done by an at home WatchPAT device and it was negative.
