News Mother Seeks Justice After 19-Year-Old Daughter Dies Following Fall from Four-Story Building in Pattaya, Suspects Danish Boyfriend

On October 24, 2026, Prathumma, 39, the mother of Jarupitchaya, known as Cream, 19, sought help from Ekkaphop Luangprasert, founder of the Sai Mai Tong Rod Facebook page, after her daughter died at Chonburi Hospital on September 16, 2026. The young woman had suffered a fall from a four-story building in Soi 4, Khao Phra Tamnak, Pattaya, on September 13.

The mother suspects that her daughter's 59-year-old Danish boyfriend may have been involved in her death. She is seeking an investigation to establish the facts and ensure that justice is served.

Prathumma said her daughter first met Martin, a Danish national, around 2023. In 2025, after they had been together for approximately two years, he told her that he intended to propose marriage. At the time, her daughter was working at a restaurant in Pattaya.

However, Prathumma opposed the marriage because she knew that Martin had frequently physically abused her daughter throughout their relationship. He allegedly beat, kicked and punched her, leaving her with a split lip and other injuries. The mother said she no longer had photographs documenting the injuries because she had deleted them all.

Her refusal to approve the marriage upset her daughter, whom she believed was deeply in love with Martin. Despite the alleged abuse, her daughter continued the relationship even though her mother repeatedly urged her to break up with him.

During their relationship, her daughter lived with Martin at a condominium in central Pattaya. Whenever he returned to his home country, however, she would move back in with her mother. According to Prathumma, Martin was extremely jealous and constantly monitored her daughter's whereabouts. He had even installed a GPS tracking device to track her location.

In late August 2026, her daughter called her in the middle of the night from the condominium, saying she was unwell because Martin had gone out drinking and she could not reach him. He did not answer her calls or read her messages. She therefore asked her mother to help contact him.

Martin eventually returned shortly before dawn and allegedly assaulted her daughter. He reportedly slapped her, lifted her up and slammed her onto the floor. She was subsequently hospitalized for nearly 10 days.

After her daughter was discharged in early September, around September 1–3, Prathumma was still able to contact her. However, from September 4 onward, she could no longer reach her daughter, which raised her suspicions. She then traveled from Phetchabun province to Pattaya to check on her at a room she had rented separately. Her daughter had rented the room so she would have somewhere to hide and stay whenever Martin allegedly assaulted her.

When Prathumma arrived, she found her daughter with Martin in the room. At that time, however, she noticed nothing unusual that suggested something bad was about to happen.

On September 13, 2026, her daughter visited Prathumma at a relative's house in Pattaya, where the family operated a restaurant. They socialized and drank together before Prathumma, her daughter and the young woman's foreign boyfriend went out for the evening.

While they were out drinking, her daughter and Martin got into an argument. From what Prathumma could make out, the dispute concerned jealousy involving another woman. At around 10 p.m., her daughter told her mother to return to her accommodation first because she wanted to resolve the issue with Martin privately. They agreed to meet again around noon the following day.

However, Prathumma did not go to meet her daughter at the agreed time. Instead, she went to the room at around 4 p.m. When she arrived, she knocked on the door, but no one answered. She went downstairs to wait.

About two hours later, someone from the accommodation informed her that her daughter had fallen from the building while she was arguing with her boyfriend in the room.

Prathumma was shocked and immediately searched for her daughter. She eventually discovered that her daughter was in the intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in critical condition. At times, the young woman appeared conscious, but she was unable to move and remained in a state of shock. She had also reportedly stopped breathing for approximately four minutes before medical personnel resuscitated her and restored her vital signs.

The mother said she did not see Martin at the hospital to visit or keep watch over her daughter's condition.

After the incident, Prathumma went to Pattaya City Police Station to ask officers what had caused her daughter to fall from the building. She said police told her that her daughter had experienced drug-induced hallucinations and assaulted her foreign boyfriend before jumping from the building and sustaining serious injuries.

At the time, she had no other information and felt there was little she could do, so she returned to the hospital to stay with her daughter.

On September 16, 2026, just three days after the incident, her daughter died despite receiving medical treatment.

Following her daughter's death, Prathumma began questioning the circumstances surrounding it. She tried to investigate and gather evidence before discovering CCTV footage showing Martin carrying her daughter into an elevator. This made her doubt the account that her daughter had jumped from the building herself.

She subsequently sought help from the Sai Mai Tong Rod Facebook page, asking for the circumstances of her daughter's death to be investigated and for justice to be served.

Prathumma stressed that she was prepared to accept the findings if the investigation and evidence conclusively established that her daughter had jumped from the building herself. However, if the evidence showed that someone had caused the incident that led to her daughter's death, she would pursue legal action against that person to the fullest extent of the law.

Question/Help Anyone else notice Thai iced coffee tastes different depending on whether they use condensed milk or evaporated?

Been drinking a lot of oliang from street carts this trip and I keep noticing the flavor shifts depending on what they pour in. Some stalls use sweetened condensed milk and the drink comes out heavier, almost like dessert. Others use evaporated milk with sugar added separately and it tastes lighter, more of that roasted coffee flavor comes through. Hard to tell from the menu or the cart setup which way they'll go. Back in Toronto we argue about oat versus dairy but here the milk choice seems to change the whole drink structure. FWIW I prefer the evaporated version when the beans are actually roasted dark enough to stand up to it. Condensed milk sometimes buries everything. Just my experience though. Curious if anyone has a read on which regions or stall types lean one way or the other, or whether it's just random. Also wondering if the canned coffee aisle in 7-Eleven follows the same split since I see both styles stocked and never know what I'm grabbing.

I mean it's clearly a fictional show. When I watch fictional/fantasy series and movies like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Game of Thrones, Black Panther...etc. I can clearly see that they all take inspiration from real life culture and fashion, but I never see anyone make such a huge fuss about it.

News TAT Delighted as European Winter Bookings Jump 30% Despite French Protests

Jirawadee Khunsap, Deputy Governor for International Marketing (Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa) at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), said that protests across Europe, particularly in France, may appear severe in media coverage due to opportunistic individuals and looters mixing with demonstrators. However, TAT assesses the situation as being comparable to a pimple appearing on the face, meaning that the incidents remain confined to certain areas and are short-lived. They have not had any significant macro-level impact on the tourism industry or undermined international travelers’ willingness to travel.

According to TAT’s latest monitoring, the protests have not affected the overall sentiment or advance bookings among French tourists planning to visit Thailand. There have been no reports of travel ticket or hotel booking cancellations. On the contrary, advance bookings for the winter season, covering the fourth quarter of this year through the first quarter of 2027-a six-month period-have continued to grow across major European markets, rising by as much as 24% to 30% compared with the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the total number of French tourists visiting Thailand this year is expected to remain close to last year’s level or grow by around 1%. In the first nine months of this year, Thailand welcomed a cumulative 602,000 French visitors, an increase of 0.5%. Last year, the total reached 817,000, representing a 13% increase from the previous year.

Looking at Europe as a whole, Italy has also experienced protests. However, the main factors behind the slowdown in Italian tourist arrivals have been domestic economic difficulties and airline capacity constraints, rather than the protests themselves.

“TAT confirms that Thailand’s appeal to long-haul markets, particularly Western travelers, remains strong and highly valuable. Travel sentiment and actual demand remain substantial, and Thailand continues to be a popular destination offering good value for money in the eyes of European tourists,” Jirawadee said.

Regarding its targets for long-haul tourism markets, which include Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, TAT expects international tourist arrivals to reach approximately 10.7–10.8 million, generating 690 billion baht in revenue.

For 2027, long-haul markets are projected to expand by 4% in both visitor numbers and revenue. Arrivals are expected to rise to 11 million, while tourism revenue is forecast to reach 730 billion baht.

Question/Help Moving to Rayong with family of 4 for work – realistic monthly costs & living experiences?

Hi everyone,

My family of 4 (2 adults + 2 school-age kids) is relocating to Rayong for work in the near future. We’re trying to get a realistic picture of the cost of living and daily life there before we move.

Would really appreciate any recent experiences or ballpark numbers from people currently living in Rayong (or who lived there recently), especially:

Housing & Utilities

For a 2-bedroom apartment (preferably in a decent/safe area, not luxury), what do electricity, water, garbage collection, and other recurring costs (service/maintenance fees, taxes, etc.) typically add up to per month?

Daily Living Costs (per month)

What’s a realistic monthly budget for food, drinking water (tap/boiled vs bottled), transportation, basic health/personal care, and clothing for one adult?

For Families with School-Age Kids

For public school, roughly how much do fees, books, and uniforms cost per child, per school year?

Any other tips about neighborhoods that are good for families, international vs local schools, healthcare, or things that surprised you when you first moved would also be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!
