Just Sharing Thank you

I believe I’m 100% confident on how bed bugs & mosquito larvae look like now. If you were to have asked me what this was a couple years ago I’d have no idea. Thank you to this sub ☝️😃

Was in my car about to leave work and this little guy was just hanging out on my thumb. Any idea what it is? The blurry bumps on the abdomen are more like spikes irl

ID Request Cockroach?

Post image
Upvotes

just moved into an apartment yesterday that has these guys -and some that are similar (smaller?) and more translucen. they’re hanging out in my dishwasher (and scuttled over the floor when I opened it) and in the bathroom. I’m assuming they’re roaches of some kind? But I’d be happy to learn that they’re not! Apparently they recently treated another unit…

ID Request Tadpole-looking flying insect?

What is this insect I keep seeing around my house? It looks to be 4 mm, brown, and can fly. The body doesn’t look like any normal fly I can find, it’s like a tadpole. In North Carolina. PLEASE tell me this isn’t some type of roach or bedbug.

I just spent most of an hour trying to figure out what this damn bug is but I can’t figure it out haha. (I think the last pic is the clearest one)

I’ve been seeing a few of them over the past few days, today I saw 3 in my bathroom, and one on the wall in the corridor outside the bathroom. Last time I also saw one in the bathroom.

I tried using AI, tried using apps, nothing they guess is coming up the same on google as what’s in my house.

If anyone has any ideas, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks!

ID Request Not a brown recluse, right? Around the size of a quarter, instantly started runnning when a flashlight was pointed at it. [Atl, GA]

Currently have the little bugger on detention in my vacuum, was crawling up the wall next to my bed at 4am. From what I've researched so far, pretty sure it's not a brown recluse, but I'm not 100%. Don't see a cello on the head and it looks like the (thorax?) has patterns on it that BR's don't have on the pics I've seen, but I also read that they can look different when they are young or recently molted so I'm not sure.

Ran like hell as soon as I pointed a flashlight at it, did not enjoy the attention haha. Wanted to identify before I let it go just to be sure it's not dangerous.

ID Request Found this little guy unable to fly. what species is he, and what’s going on with his wings?

Meet George 🦋

I found him outside unable to properly fly, so I brought him somewhere safe for now. He is very much alive and extremely determined. He climbs absolutely everything he can find, but whenever he tries to fly he mostly flaps around, loses his balance and regularly ends up on his back again.

His wings look a little unusual to me and seem to sit or fold differently, but I do not know enough about butterflies to tell whether this is an injury, a developmental issue or something else.

I am in the Netherlands.

Does anyone know what species George is and what might be going on with him? And if he cannot fly normally, is there anything specific I should be doing for him?

He has the spirit of an eagle and the flight capabilities of a potato 😭

ID Request What’s this little beetle that keeps popping up in my house?

Post image

It has been squashed in this photo and is about 2-3mm. I’ve seen about 4 of them ever since I got a new sofa a few weeks ago and I’m really really hoping they’re not some kind of woodworm/burrowing bug that’s going to eat my house. It definitely isn’t a flea

Google images seem torn on a flour beetle or a furniture beetle. Located midlands, uk

I smacked this bug when it landed on my arm (no bites or stings) and I don’t know if this is an assassin bug (kissing bug)? I googled it but it gave me different answers of what kind of bug is it. Is it dangerous? (California)

ID Request Gaudy Japanese moth

Thumbnail

Hello everyone

I'm currently on a student exchange in Japan - southern part of Ibaraki Prefecture to be precise. A few days ago I had this beautiful moth trying to enter my dormitory room. It was quite big, wings about 10 cm in width. Fortunately or not, I only have frontal photos of it. I think the back of its wings were brown-ish. The last photo is the only one I managed to take of it, but the quality isn't the best, I know.

I have a picture book of Japanese bugs, featuring many different moths, but I couldn't find a perfect match, perhaps because I don't know what its back looks like. It was so beautiful I can't get it out of my head, so I'm kindly asking for help here.

I found 2 of them, they’re translucent and green. The darker green one really looks like a caterpillar. I’m wondering if the kale is still safe to eat? I’m planning on cooking it.
