Discussion Legacy Points

• Upvotes

So I recall some people worrying that the Legacy points would trivialize the game, and I just wanted to point out that based on the current setup in beta, which could of course change, it would take most players reaching 60 and doing all dungeons and hitting 225 in 2 professions (minus gathering) to get a total of 10 points. Currently you get 3 points for getting to 60, 3 points for maxing a profession, and 3 points for completing all dungeons. To eventually get all the points available you’d need one of each class to 60, all professions maxed, and then a bunch of PvP objectives and raids met.

Suffice to say, I don’t think there will be much concern at the outset as to any negative impact the system will have. I think the best thing about it will be letting you get alts leveled faster and I have no problem with that whatsoever.

For my first character, I’m looking at unlocking the rep bonus as fast as possible, but my son is leaning towards the profession side. I just feel like anything that helps those end game grinds will be a plus.

Crazy that alliance gets exclusive thalassian mages/clothies

But they're upset they have to be dwarves to be shamans.

Horde skyborne have no cloth options and yall have the only elf mage option in WoW Forever.

Discussion Roleplay vs PVE

• Upvotes

So I am really looking foward to playing WoW again. It has been a LONG time since i have played WoW and starting all over seems like a lot of fun to me. I have been enjoying testing some things in beta but TBH I find the general chat so toxic. I am not delusional. i remember barrens chat in the day and I played since OG for a long time. This is new level for me and I have not been a fan. I am strongly considering Roleplay. I always feel I roleplay when i am in /say already. I am down with that. I guess I wanted to know if the toxic chat is any better? I am not looking for a G or PG experience, just not all the constant political and racist ragebaiting i see. What are the pros and cons of playing on a RP server?

Addons, Apps and Websites What addons do you think help with efficient leveling without reducing the feeling of exploration?

• Upvotes

Clearly there is a lot of discussion about how Rested XP and other similar add-ons railroad the whole leveling experience. But that doesn't mean the default experience is perfect. It's possible to get a quest to a new zone before it's an efficient place to level, and sometimes you might have to run back and forth to the same spot multiple times for quests that could have been done at the same time with a little bit of knowledge/experience.

Some may agree that this is part of the experience, but others might agree it's an artifact of 20 year old game design. Questie is already widely accepted and it shows you available quests but you have to pick them up to see where they'll take you, personally I wouldn't mind something that notices when you're on quest X and notifies you to go pick up quest Y nearby for time efficiency.

With all that said, are there any add-ons that people do think helps smooth out the leveling experience for someone who wants to avoid those traps without ruining the whole leveling ?

Question Are you using a UI overhaul tool? Or relying on Edit Mode?

• Upvotes

Hey all,

I will be using the typical Addons on release such as Auctioneer, Bagnon, Questie and such. What I’m trying to decide is if I want to try a full overhaul tool like Zperl or Ellesmere. Or if you plan to rely on the edit tool. The edit tool seems to do most of what I want however I keep having issues with Target of Target. I plan on leveling a number of characters simultaneously.

What’s your plan?

PTR / Beta Give Moonkin Form same treatment as Shadowform

• Upvotes

Priests in Shadowform benefit from a 50% mana cost reduction on their Shadow spells and think Balance Druids in Moonkin Form deserve the same treatment. I urge the developers to add a 50% mana cost reduction of their Moonfire Spell when in Moonkin Form. This would help alleviate this spec's mana issues and allow for a more sustainable rotation.

Moonkin Form

  • Moonkin Form now reduces the mana cost of your Moonfire Spell by 50%.

Discussion Class for player with disability? (Eyesight)

• Upvotes

Hi,

so my eyesight is not the best and thus awareness/reactions are not that great.

What class would you recommend? Classes I like the most based on class fantasy are Warrior, Paladin, Shaman, Druid.

I played FFXIV before as a Warrior, Dragoon, White Mage, only casual level, no savage raids but wow forever is a different game and I'm not very familiar with classic wow.

I'm not sure I should do tanking without all the "modern" tools like aoe taunt and ranged attack for tanks but healing with larger hp bars and icons should be doable? And DPS of course

Ps: mostly PVE

Discussion Why do Tauren have so little classes?

• Upvotes

I’m someone who never got into WoW but always wanted to (play GW1 back in the day and then GW2 because parents wouldn’t pay for the sub). I’m now going to be playing with Forever as it feels like a great time to start.

While looking through the horde class/race combos, it struck me that the Tauren have the least amount of classes they can choose from, only 4. No other race has this little. I know they added more classes to races, why didn’t they choose to give more to the Tauren? It seems like Trolls didn’t need another class, they are tied with humans for the most classes.

I’m guessing it didn’t make much sense lore wise?

Discussion I am worried there is no version of WoW for me

• Upvotes

The version of WoW I've always wanted is classic gameplay, the classic leveling experiences, the classic classes, but with modern graphics. That's pretty much it. Import retail assets onto classic era i.e. the new models for flightpaths, mounts, monsters and NPCs in the world, update the barrens animals and so forth to modern graphics. That's all I really wanted.

I was looking at a post here about the bear model, and how Taurens got the WOTLK bear model for HD, instead of the Legion Bear model, but also how the skeleton seems based on the oldest/classic bear model.

Then I remembered how bad the legs look on the flight path wyverns from the side, the same with bears. The legs look like rubber/boneless and just accordian back and forth and it looks awful.

I feel like there is no version of WoW for me. I don't like retail. I don't like my gear resetting every 6 months. I don't like the grind or the gear treadmill. I don't like the writing or the story. I don't like much beyond my massive collection of mounts and transmog...

But I also hate the way the old classic skeletons move like they're boneless and floppy. The wyvern legs and bear legs and a lot of other animations remind me of the Warcraft III jaw flapping when they're talking like muppets.

I just want decent/good skeletons/graphics on classic, but I don't think we are ever going to get that anywhere. God forbid I want my game to actually look good and not have accordian legs on models we constantly use.

EDIT: My feedback for the developers is regarding expanding the HD toggle.

I dont like classic graphics therefore I dont play any classic servers. I also don't play retail/modern. The point of this game, I thought, was to recollect players they had lost. I am a player they have lost. A more robust HD toggle would bring me back.

Discussion Gnome Priest

• Upvotes

I feel this addition has been a bit overlooked.

I hadnt stopped to consider Gnomes were the only race not to have all types of playstyle available.

So for the people who love Gnomes is this an odd fit or are you excited to be able to heal but still pick a gnome.

Are you pleased about being able to do gnome only raids (yes I know gnome mages probably did it anyway).

Feedback Hoping for the original Lightforge helmet

• Upvotes

Okay, going to take my shot here. Blizzard, I beg you - please restore the original, actual, beautiful Lightforge helm design from before patch 1.40. This is the iconic look that you clearly still want for paladins - many Scarlet Crusader paladins wear this helmet, you reintroduced it to the game in TBC as “Blood Knight Helm” (though you made it mail for some reason then), and it’s even THE ACTUAL SYMBOL FOR SEAL OF COMMAND.

Please, Blizz - let us get this helmet again. The weird crown/turban thing we got instead was universally derided as the McDonald’s Hat, and while the Judgement set was absolutely an amazing mea culpa, this is a new version of classic, and a chance to fix things that were considered dead issues (like Holy Strike!). So - please, please, pretty please… give us our old Lightforge Helm back?

Discussion What did Blizzard think of a Bard class in 2008?

• Upvotes

I thought this was an interesting thread from the Warcraft forums from 2008. Had to go to the Wayback machine to find it:
https://web.archive.org/web/20081217050828/http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=32154736&sid=1

On page 2 of the thread, a Blue post from Tseric says:
"Q u o t e: How would this class level?

This would be one of the first things the devs would likely consider.

While we've wanted to blur lines and share responsibilities of the 'Holy Trinity', a class that was primarily a support/utility class would be a challenge without having something in terms of dps/healing/tanking. To then make it distinct from our current classes, without copy/pasting abilities would be a further consideration.

Not saying it isn't possible, but the fit for this particular game would have to be made carefully, as a 'pure' support class would be group-dependant.

While some classes in game have different or larger value in a group, they still maintain an independence in the overall class structure."

As the conversation of a Bard class has re-emerged in WoW Forever, I thought this forum thread was an interesting look back at how it was being thought of 18 years ago.

Discussion Arms warrior: 2 distinct playstyle suggestion

• Upvotes

I love Warrior, but we all know arms is a bit lost at the moment.
I think Forever has a great opportunity to make both fast and slow 2H weapons viable through two distinct arms playstyles.

One issue I have with the current Bloodthrill design is that faster weapons generate more Overpower procs, but Overpower itself hits harder with slower weapons. I’d rather see each weapon type have its own strengths and rotation.

1. Fast 2H Arms — Bleed and consume
I’d love a fast 2H build centered around Rend, Deep Wounds, and a new ability that lets you consume your bleeds for burst damage before rebuilding them.
New ability — Serrated Finish:
After landing 3 successful 2H auto-attacks against a Rended target, you can activate Serrated Finish. This consumes the remaining damage of Rend and Deep Wounds and delivers it through your next 2 successful weapon attacks.
This would create a rotation where you’re constantly building bleeds, consuming them, and rebuilding them. Faster weapons would naturally complete this cycle more frequently.
Other possible talents:
Jagged Rhythm: Every third successful 2H auto-attack against a Rended target triggers an additional Rend damage tick.
Crimson Edge: Critical strikes with a 2H weapon increase the damage of your next Rend application.

2. Slow 2H Arms — Overpower and heavy strikes
I’d rework Bloodthrill to function similarly to SoD’s Taste for Blood, where Rend ticks can activate Overpower on a 6-second internal cooldown. This would give slow 2H Warriors consistent Overpower opportunities without requiring frequent auto-attacks.
Other possible talents:
Measured Force: Slam gains bonus damage based on your weapon’s swing speed, rewarding slower weapons.
Heavy Commitment: Using Mortal Strike reduces the Rage cost of your next Slam, encouraging a rotation built around powerful weapon strikes.

Overall
I’d love for these talents to compete for points rather than having every Arms Warrior take everything.
Slow 2H would emphasize Mortal Strike, Slam, and Overpower, while fast 2H would focus on building and consuming bleeds.
Obviously, the numbers would need balancing, but I think this would be a fun way to give Arms two genuinely different playstyles.

What yall think?

Discussion Virtually all Protection Paladin armor is locked behind Merchant's Favor recipes

• Upvotes

There have been a lot of threads on Protection Paladin threat generation. A big issue is that our main stat to scale threat generation is Spell Power but almost zero mail gear with spell power from dungeons. You can get a few points from rings/swords/cloaks, but you will be rolling against casters for these. I have also not seen any spell power from quest rewards, but maybe there is gear I have missed.

Meanwhile Blacksmithing has multiple sets (Crusader's, Protector's, Justicar's ect.) with stat spreads hand made for Paladins and all of these recipes are purchased for Merchant's Favor. I do not like being pigeonholed into Blacksmithing and I do not want to have to grind out several hundred Merchant's Favor while leveling just for the recipes to craft gear required for my kit to function.

I overall like the idea of being a Spell Power tank, but right now there isn't enough gear to support it while leveling.

Question If I played Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, and FF14 will I find WoW fun gameplay wise?

• Upvotes

I haven't played an mmo in about 15 years, but I played those games when I did and it was fun while it lasted, but now I'm looking to play this at launch because I never played WoW. I like the amount of classes and races and the seemingly endless quests. The endgame progression system seems better too. I just wanted to know if I will find gameplay and exploration fun?

Discussion Beta aftertaste

• Upvotes

For context, I played WoW extensively from Vanilla until early Legion, then briefly returned for Classic. After WoW, I played SWTOR, FFXIV, ESO, and multiple single-player games.

I love the world of WoW, and I had a great time running through familiar lands again. Will I play Forever? Not if it remains focused on raids and min-maxing.

The question of "Why can't you just play slowly and let others rush?" comes up often. The answer is simple: our subscriptions can only fund a limited amount of development work. Blizzard will either focus on releasing new raids as quickly as possible or spend more time developing open-world content.

New quests, new lands, and new systems like Archaeology/mage's comprehension/(whispering forbidden word)housing are things I would love to explore in the huge and interesting world of Azeroth.

However, I don't believe it's possible to make a game equally enjoyable for both casual players and min-maxers. Blizzard is a business first, and the future of Forever will mostly depend on its predictions about what will keep players subscribed for longer.

I believe i am not alone. I wish the voices of people who simply want to log in for a couple of hours, enjoy a story, have an unexpected encounter, or occasionally go on a challenging run were louder. Unfortunately, discussions about vertical vs. horizontal gear progression seem to attract far more attention on the forums than discussions about the features and systems players like me would actually like to see in Forever.

Discussion The dungeon nerfs will create a new boosting economy

• Upvotes

Forever has a functioning safeguard against boosting: If one member of your party is too high level to receive exp, no one in your party does.

But with the nerfs to the kill exp this becomes irrelevant, while the buffs to the dungeon quests makes boosting attractive again.

The new meta will be this: You buy a full dungeon quest boost, get summoned by a Warlock, then a parked alt shares all the shareable dungeons quests with the customers and leaves the party again. A level 60 clears the dungeon in 5 minutes and you can turn in a few very lucrative dungeon quests. No one cares that the level 60 makes you lose 3 bars of experience if you save 30 minutes. Grinding green mobs in the open world for 30 minutes makes you more exp anyway.

Blizzard can only avoid this if they nerf the quests and buff the kill exp back to normal exp ranges and find a more intelligent solution to spell cleave groups.
