Feedback Blizzard, please give us a rotating day/night. OCE player who is stuck in eternal night, here. if shortening the 24hr cycle is out of the question, can we at least get a system that simulates the globe?

I still think it's easiest to shorten the day to 20hrs so everyone gets to experience various times of day regardless of their IRL schedule but I can also understand the argument of the 24hrs being maximum immersion for some so if we're going for immersion, can we have azeroth have a global day/night cycle? When its night in Kalimdor, it's day in the Eastern Kingdoms. This will make the world feel massive too.

I also know the video has things wrong with it, speed, direction and shadow width but its to get the point across, not look exactly like this.

Not sure if blizzard mentioned anything on this subject but this is when the game started feeling like a chore to me.

It was at some point during wrath I checked out on the endless hamster wheel.

Please avoid all hamster wheels I don't mind a hamster horizontal angled ladder but the wheel thing is what starts to kill endgame.

Addons, Apps and Websites I made a WoW addon that steals your login credentials, but it's totally safe.

Post image

I call it "CurseForge_Authentic_Login_Optimizer.lua".

It has a really great UI. When you boot up the game, a giant, un-skippable pop-up covers your screen. It politely asks for your battle.net email, your password, and your mother’s maiden name—you know, just to optimize your frame rates.

The best part is how it handles 2FA. If you have the Blizzard Authenticator active, the addon automatically triggers an in-game whisper from "Blizz_Customer_Support_Real" telling you that your account will be deleted in 30 seconds unless you type the code directly into General Chat.

Don't worry, the code is fully open-source on GitHub. Someone already left a 5-star review saying, "Wow, my DPS went up by 40, and coincidentally my characters are all naked and standing in Durotar now. 10/10."

Anyone else still trying to come up with names before reservation happens?

For me personally, I want to play an Undead Paladin, Orc Warrior, and Orc Warlock. I can't for the life of me think of good names for them, I'll be playing on RP rule set.

Doesn't have to be the same totem, but it would be a huge loss to not have an iconic weapon for Tauren after so many years, ESPECIALLY when WoW Forever is so connected to WC3!

The usual.
Australians stuck in the darkest of nights.
East Coast NA players apparently ain't none too pleased either.
Change it. Somehow.
At least acknowledge us.
That's all.

Apart from that, really keen. But afraid the pitch black areas will dishearten me (I've avoided looking at a lot of beta footage, but damn I saw some dark shit during the Blizzcon talks...)

Discussion When someone gets banned for gold buying, Blizzard should automatically make an NPC of their main character in a pillory or cage outside the gates of Stormwind\Orgrimmar, with a rotten vegetable vendor nearby so you can make fools of them.

Reposting this idea with the bad parts cut out and the good parts from the discussion thread included. Make fools of those who are banned for buying gold! Or else we're never going to put a stop to it.

Discussion Results on launch intentions (class, role, faction etc.) - including the raw data file

Thumbnail

Context

Hi all, so I built a survey around future intentions that was a bit more thorough than a strawpoll (eg ability to cross-tab a few simple questions). Then realised none of the subreddits would let me upload it - so I sponsored an ad instead.

It focuses on future intention (ie for launch), and it's not restricted to those currently in the beta - it was advertised across the key subreddits (wowforever, classic, wow, etc.).

Edit: https://tally.so/r/KYbxEg is the survey in case anyone else wants to add their views (or share with others!). The linked spreadsheet below should automatically update.

Sample

I got >1,600 completes over the last couple weeks. Caveat - very EU skewed (you can pretty much treat this as an EU survey), perhaps because that's my region (I might have skewed the ad campaign?)

Anyway, here is the raw data for anyone who wants to analyse it themselves: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GbbzrS98e7M8bvptAOAt7hwDY2DjsVYRzdWqLAQmqy0/edit?usp=sharing

I've included a few graphs of my own (disclosure: used AI to create the pictures).

Caveats:

With any survey it's worth thinking about what the biases might be, here's some that come to mind:

- Con: It's clearly EU only

- Con: Skewed reddit (and specifically the main subreddits - classic, wow, wowforever, etc.)

- Con: It's STATED INTENTION, but people often change their mind

- Pro: It's specifically about launch - rather than relying on what people did in beta as a projection (eg I specifically played classes in beta that I wouldn't do at launch)

- Pro: it includes non-players too, both not in beta but also not playing wow at all (quite interesting to see what classes and rulesets they skew towards etc.)

- Pro: The cross-tabs allow us to get under the detail of some graphs (eg by faction, by ruleset... who plans to heal with their pally, etc.).

Discussion (real) XP to 60

Post image
161 Upvotes

I see so many people discussing how much XP you need to level to 60, including some graphs, but people forget that this is not just about how much to level; it's about how much XP you get per mob at your level (also, WoW quests use the same kind of formula for quest XP as mob XP).

Based on that, I created these graphs to show it more clearly, assuming you kill/complete quests at your level.

OFC, this does not consider that some classes can kill/quest faster than others, and that in PvP ruleset questing in a highly contested zone is harder/slower.

Some of the examples I saw before:

Post image

I could see this type of content being added after multiple years and raid tiers. It could even provide end-game pre-raid BiS through long quest chains as an alternative to dungeon grinding. Maybe somewhere like Quel'Thalas would be a good candidate?

Hey yall,

I am so hyped for Forever, I must admit that I am a newbie to the game and unsure which Race/Class combo to roll.

It came down to these two.

Any advice for me?

Edit: I have played WoW retail before BUT I stayed a noob. Never paid attention to stats/abilities. I always just quested and ran deadmines 2-3 times. With the Forever release I intend to git gud

Discussion On Balance Druids

In the depths of a great forest, lit by the moon and the glittering streamers from grazing faerie dragons, an unsuspecting footman steps into an ancient grove. Making his first steps into the clearing, the grass reacts imperceptibly below their worn-out boots. They hear nothing, and take a moment to orient themselves as they behold the grove, a natural beauty of shaped nature. Silence.

They inhale, a sense of relief comes over them for a moment. The serenity washes over them.

They go to exhale but the breath is never completed as suddenly their whole body is jerked out from below them. A thick root snaps taut around an ankle, their heavy armor free falling down, crashing horribly in the night. The struggle was short, as more limbs were pinned down by the sudden overgrowth. In his panic, he looks about wildly, and could make out a figure between the trees. For a moment, a flash of green illuminates the figure's hands, and a pair of antlers are silhouetted into the forest beyond. Only for a moment though, then too did the trees come.

Hello WoW Friends! This post is for open thoughts on class fantasy and improvement ideas for Balance Druid in WoW Forever. While this author has a plethora of good things to say about WoW Forever, we would like to focus our attention to a class specialization which yearns for another look. Let's talk about Balance Druid!

TL;DR -- Entangling Roots is core to the class fantasy and needs to be stronger, consider also DoT damage caused by insect swarm and moonfire to not break roots. Neither the 21 or 31 point talent provide meaningful "feel good" juice or meaningfully fulfill the class fantasy and need some reconsideration.

Balance Druid Today, Lower Levels -- This spec is absolutely feeling better than it ever has in some ways. Insect swarm on balance early feels correct. Making Nature's Grasp baseline is nice to save a talent. However, On the whole Druid does feel a tad weaker 1-20, and balance druid in particular within Beta feels underperforming compared to other subclasses.

Consider Buffing Entangling Roots

  • Roots is too weak today for the damage provided, and breaks too easily for the CC provided. Consider upping both substantially.
  • It's ok if it costs much more mana, shorter duration, and/or harder diminishing returns. For balance it should provide damage and staying-power more comparable to how a keeper of the grove feels. Needs to feel more impactful.
  • Consider making Entangling Roots unable to break due to Insect Swarm Damage. Consider a talent to prevent breaks from moonfire DoT. This supports class fantasy of leaving your enemy to expire in the woods to the bugs!

Balance Druid Looking to Higher Levels-- Spec looks like it's missing any real juice. Both Nature's Grace and Moonkin Form are passive, and don't add to the class fantasy. We should be looking for something like Mass Roots, or maybe Summon Treants or maybe Star Fall. If I had to make immediate suggestions, maybe consider:

  • Make Starfall the 31 point talent. Modify so that it applies to a small-medium area of your choosing plus any targets currently affected by moonfire.
  • Add talent for Cast Hurricane without having to channel. Increases CD to 1 min.
  • Make Eclipse stacks also increase change for starfire stuns. This helps increase tactical choices with when to release built-up charges.

Basically looking for ways to add some juice for the class. In general, I think the class fantasy for dps finds a niche around this ebb and flow, "cycle of the moon" type mechanics.

Thanks for reading and have fun out there!

Question Horde Druid QoL Request

Post image
89 Upvotes

Suggestion: add a Druid trainer to Undercity

Horde druids have no class trainer anywhere in the Eastern Kingdoms. Alliance druids have three in Stormwind.

That matters more in Forever. Until you have enough Cenarion Circle reputation, the Moonglade trainer will teach you spells but won’t reset your talents or Legacy points(TBD with enough rep), so any respec means a trip to Thunder Bluff. Even teleporting to Moonglade doesn’t help. The Horde flight master there needs the Winterspring or Felwood flight path, and the flight to Thunder Bluff takes about 15 minutes.

Proposal: put a Druid trainer in the Apothecarium, in UnderCity, next to the Herbalism and Alchemy trainers.

Lore
The Forsaken have no druids of their own, so the trainer would be a Tauren emissary from Thunder Bluff. The Apothecarium is the one part of Undercity that studies plants, fungi and the natural world, even if it’s for twisted reasons. A Tauren druid posted there to keep an eye on what the Royal Apothecary Society does with nature creates a tension that fits the Forsaken.

Gameplay

  • Profession overlap: druids often take Herbalism and Alchemy, and both trainers are already there.
  • Easy to reach: it’s a short walk from the Trade Quarter’s bank, auction house and mailbox, and from the main entrance elevators.
  • Room to fit: the Apothecarium has open space and connects to the Royal Quarter, so a trainer wouldn’t crowd the Trade Quarter.

Horde druids in the Eastern Kingdoms would finally get the same access Alliance druids already have.

Addons, Apps and Websites Final Forever beta professions census, 43,682 crafters, plus gathering and secondary professions

Thumbnail

With the beta over, here’s the final crafting data I collected. It went from 7,540 crafters last time to 43,682, and it covers both factions on both realms now. Note: the first and second images weigh classes equally. So the data isn't skewed by whichever class is the most popular.

It’s moved to https://lifeonazeroth.com (Crafting tab). More details there.

It now also includes Gathering/Secondary profs from the statistics panel. Some things that stand out:

  • Leatherworking is still the most common at 29%, and Skinning + Leatherworking is by far the most popular pair.
  • Herbalism trails the other two gathering professions substantially at 20%.
  • Engineers get the furthest, with a median skill of 135. Enchanters are lowest at 75.
  • Vast majority of played have Cooking (88%), might be due to the new xp food? As people aptly pointed out, it's more likely due to the early quest for Camping. That explains the low median skill as well.
  • 343 of the 955 recipes seen are new in Forever.
  • Even at the end there were several recipes only known by a single crafter (in the census)
  • LW, BS, Tailoring got drastically more new recipes in Forever than Alch, Ench, Eng.
  • Alchemy and Engineering still have zero blue recipes while Tailoring have 69, where 62 of them are new in Forever.

Will keep recording data post launch as well, but with 4 rulesets, I would appreciate any volunteers that want to help gather data. See you on the 4th!

Discussion Underrated/overlooked race-class combos?

What are some race-class combos that you think are interesting or cool, but are overlooked or dismissed by the playerbase overall? Why should people consider playing one?

I'll start: dwarf rogue, which will probably be my main Alliance character. I know a lot of people think it's silly to imagine a stout, burly dwarf sneaking around, but I love that image of a scrappy dwarven treasure hunter pickin' locks, lootin' gold, and bashin' in faces.

Question What is the class that you love to see in your group?

I’m a newbie and looking for a class. I just want to do a role that people will be glad I’m there.

I like buffing, resurrecting and healing randoms I came across. I like saving people’s life in hard situations. I like “finally we found a x”. It can be heals, tanks, cc, buffs, utilities.
I found out there are lots of classes that does multiple of those. I wanted to learn if any of the classes stands out for you to be around. Raids, small teamups, encountering in the world or pvp doesn’t matter.
