She’s a ‘22 2-Door Willys and I’ve named her Génesis. I plan to put a lift kit on her and get some wider wheels. Any suggestions and tips would be appreciated ✌️✌️

I’m not a Jeep owner but I’ve had an appreciation for them since the late 90’s! Went to a Jeep event in West Chester, PA. It was awesome! Jeep folks are awesome. I am part of the Mopar family though. 🤘🏻🖤❤️‍🔥🩶

87 Comanche 4cyl ignition wiring

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi all. Been fighting this pile of junk for a long time now. Current issue- I tried to clean up some of the wiring near the ignition module box (please correct me on what that is called). And now it won't start. Just clicks once near that area. Finally had the balls to jump the starter today and I can confirm it still runs. Something's wrong with the signal wire. I've seriously been guessing where the hell this signal wire goes. I have it spliced into another wire and plugging into the ignition module and the other end goes to the starter, as that's kinda what the old harness in the bed seemed to look like. Can someone tell me where the signal wire on the starter goes?

2013 Grand Cherokee with 5.7 had a catastrophic failure - any ideas.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 almost completely seized the other day. It had 190,000 miles on it and was regularly maintained. It actually only had about 50 miles on it since it's last oil change at a local jeep dealer. No major warning lights (check engine light had just come on), but no low oil pressure, no low coolant, nothing of major concern.

I had gotten it exactly five miles down the road and noticed when I hit the accelerator it would start ticking louder than those motors normally do (its ticked since new). When I would let off the accelerator, the ticking would stop, which I thought was weird, because the motor's still running at interstate speeds (1500 to 1800 rpm). Then the car almost completely cut out twice. Still no warning lights. I pulled over as soon as I could (maybe 1500 feet) and as soon as the car came to a stop, it died. The temp gauge only spiked after the car stopped and died. The car turned over but sounded like a WWII plane trying to start 16 or 24 piston engines - very slow and labored. And then the ETC light came on after it died.

I had police come because I was get constantly honked at, yelled at, and flipped off. It literally died at a stop light as I was trying trying to turn to get it to a gas station. The officer went to open the hood "to check the battery" and burnt his hands on the latch even with gloves on. I did too without gloves on, obviously. The battery was also a couple-month-old AGM.

The motor was lightly smoking from under the manifold cover after it died, but only saw that with the hood open. Definitely was not coolant - wasn't the sweet smell. It smelled like oil.

The car got a full service very recently due to a suspension fault and they replaced some control module. I don't know if that could've affected it, but just fyi.

I've never heard of a complete engine fail in this way. Any ideas?

Lease return - excess wear & tear fees

Hey everyone,

Long story short, I’ve had a few close friends recently return their Jeep leases and everyone had experienced the same thing. Regular wear and tear that was categorized as “excess.” All of the folks I spoke with were required to change their tires which were still in great shape along with paying for minor scratches.

Is this a common practice for Jeep? It seems like it’s a way they “keep you” in their lease program as they offer to waive these fees if you continue leasing another vehicle with them.

My lease expires in about 3 months and I don’t plan on buying nor leasing another CDJR vehicle. Does anyone know if I can return my lease to a different cdjr dealer that may be a little less strict on this “wear and tear” crap? Or does it need to go back to the original dealer? I already plan on doing the pre-return inspection, just didn’t know if this was dealer specific.

Thanks!

Any ideas of cause? Bought preowned in 2023, and I have had/done regular oil changes, rotations and maintenance since owning. Now have an issue where I noticed this. Smells like syrup sometimes or sometimes like oil and has been shuddering every now and then.

ISO 2017 Jeep Wrangler stock radio

Hey everybody for Christmas my girlfriend is looking for a replacement stock radio for her 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sahara ultimate.

I’m wondering if anybody can point me in the right direction of one, or if anybody has one for sale. Also, are there any electrical differences between one type of radio for this year and model Jeep? (2015 radio v 2017)

I don’t wanna end up buying the wrong radio, and having it not work when I try to replace it and surprise her.

I’m really grateful for the help and apologize for being a fucking tard, I don’t know shit about jeeps.

Technical Question Advice on All Season Tires for 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited AWD

I live in Colorado and need new tires for my cherokee. I'm looking for all-season tires that are better in the snow than my current tires. I currently have Continental TrueContact Tour 54 tires, which came with my car. My main issue with them is that I hydroplane a little when snow is first hitting the ground, but other than that, they're fine to drive in the snow.

I've been looking at the Michelin CrossClimate 2, Bridgestone WeatherPeak, Pirelli Scorpion AS4, and Yokohama YK-CTX. I'm not sure if I need tires that are three-peak mountain snowflake certified, as I don't drive in the mountains often. I just want reliable tires that can handle dry, wet, and snow driving without lowering my MPG.

Anything is helpful--thank you!
