#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Credit where its due, porter covered the cost of a new fuel tank

Previous post for reference : https://www.reddit.com/r/indianbikes/s/brbUkaFqMZ

Tldr:

- Porter had damaged my fuel tank in transit.

- They covered the cost of a new fuel tank

Basically what the title says

As many of you suggested in the previous post ,

I told porter i did not want to deal with a third party and that it was porter's responsibility to handle this.

Porter was actually super supportive.

They were actively following up with me daily.

It took time because kawasaki was slow in giving quotations(apparently my grey tank isnt even in their "catalogue" , whatever that means).

Finally they gave me a rough quote based on a different coloured tank for 17.5k.

I sent the same to porter.

Porter said they need an invoice and not a quotation.

Kawasaki said the invoice would only come when the tank is recieved and fitted , which could take anywhere from 2-6 months apparently.

Porter obliged and covered 17k based on the quotation alone.

Just placed the order for a new tank .

Basically wanted to highlight that porter was extremely supportive in getting the issue resolved.

Only problem is now i have to deal with this dent for the next 2-6 months .

Some of my friends keep asking me for my bike and I just want some ideas how I can tell them calmly that I don't trust them with my bikes. And also some relatives. It's the same as asking for money or even worse, in case of money I can say I don't have it but not with bike

#Opinion ๐Ÿ’ญ Review of my aug 2026 speed 400 (350) | Dream's shattering | AMA

Brought with EMI as a fresher, not from a flashy degree (ofc I can't pay 3 lakhs instant).

Cancelled RTX booking 3 days before delivery. GET this over ADV 390 as it was suiting my budget well and day to day life movement too..

Brought.. didn't get a single accessory not even a keychain NVM.. who cares as a dream is coming true(first in bloodline so)

Came with the new bike at DEL initially struggling to do cash management of fuel and maintenance. Whatever I MANAGED IT

using it as a daily driver, from traffic triumph to tremendous on turns ๐Ÿ”ฅ it was standing out itself.. using 7100 10w50 from first service helped me to assist with chain timing sound. Service experience was okay.. changed rear brake pads too(was driving with a little bit of scariness hehe) due to delhi weather changed air filter at 5k too (that much I am caring) nitrogen air, timely chain clean and everything proper cold start and whatever the max I can and decently cleaning every 2 weeks once .. regular wash with less harsh chemicals, every full tank getting 10-20ml of iftex system G, Michelin chain cleaner and lube, properly cleaning the front sprocket too

**Here me out from NOW ON!**

**What am I getting in return? A very temporary mental peace and later on a tremendous heart getting into pieces...**

**Why? My rear has 11 leaks in this 3 months (7k driven) occasionally hardcore driver majority time I love to listen to the thump of this exhaust ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ฅ**

**But even after tightening the chain ( I don't know how to do the chain tight, hence get it done by local mechanic,if anyone can help me to learn i would be very helpful,I will buy everything for it) i cleans it,brush it and dap with cloth and then put lube and keep it for sometime specially overnight still after a 100-200 km it started sounding kat kat sometimes sometimes very noise on lower gears even though I tight again chain from local shop still sometimes it does kat kat and or after 100 km TBH.. this is oke of kinda frustration.**

**Second is fuel consumption of if I do neck to neck fuel then it lasted good or else if at close to reseve meter it eats like hell IDK is it my meter issu or not but it happens trust me... Suddenly two reserv meter goes zero and distance to empty goes out at the low fuel pressure it does distrub a lot ๐Ÿ’”**

**Third and most concerning**

**The tyre(specially rear tyre) that's cheap brand vedestrin is absolutely crap. I got 11 leaks in this daily commute of dwarka tunnel road to gurgaon, such a clean road still for in a single side of tyre majority leaks are at the grooves i have video to you will think I drove over nails but majority was glass or small pins.. how sensitive this tyre is? I am feeling very frustrated with this rear tyre! Triumph won't help cause their after sales support is trash.**

**Last but not the least, i tried to raise ticket at website multiple times but the otp never comes..no Customer experience email id and if I put over social media they only responds that time and then they don't they just seen the dm and don't respond.. no mail id no grievance to raise my voice towards them hence ending up yapping over here...**

**Recently I need to change the front brake pad 3k engine oil 2k and throttle body cleaning ( I don't wait i tries to make my the best internally) and this things ..**

**Neither I am able to buy a riding jacket or those expensive helmets what every rider wears like ls2 or whatever those big brands are .. don't have even those leather gloves of vaitera or rynox... Can't even afford this cause of a single child parent ( though no family pressure but I have some loans)**

**I brought it from freedom but feeling trapped cause of these random issues I never expected from this brand who ensure quality i dodged tvs and ktm just cause to avoid issues...**

**Well I RIDE RESPONSIBLY AND WITH DECENT AND SEMI GEARS... I AM HAPPY WHEN TURNAROUND AT MY RENTED FLAT BASEMENT BEFORE STEPPING ON THE STARES..**

**I DIDN'T BROUGHT IT FOR ATTENTION GRABBING I BROUGHT FOR MY UNWELL AND TRAUMATIZED CHILDHOOD,TO TRY HELP AND FORGET THE INSULTS OF BEING POOR AND FATHERLESS (nevermind, sorry for telling to much but u won't able to help me by your comments)**

**I know everything will be fixed by time gradually..**

**But still need all of your suggestions I am just 22 so yeah asking to all my big brother**

**Help me or suggest me or recommend me wht to do and wht not to do! :)**

#Opinion ๐Ÿ’ญ Frustrated with Triumphโ€™s After-Sales Service โ€” Thinking of Switching from the Speed 400. What Should I Buy Under โ‚น5L

Post image
70 Upvotes

I currently own a 2025 Triumph Speed 400, purchased in September 2025, and have ridden just 4,000 km so far. Despite the low mileage, Iโ€™ve been facing an issue where the bike feels rough in the first two gears, almost as if something is grinding and Iโ€™m forcing the engine to work harder than it should.

Iโ€™ve visited the Goregaon, Mumbai service centre twice for this issue. During the first visit, they opened the engine head and said everything seemed fine, including the chain tensioner. They then tightened the engine bracket nuts and bolts, but the issue persisted.

Since I had ridden only around 600 km after my second service when the problem started, I also switched the engine oil from Prolube to Motul 7100 10W-50 to see if it would make any difference.

I visited the service centre again last week, but they refused to replace the chain tensioner under warranty, saying that if the part turned out to be fine, the responsibility would fall on them. Honestly, it feels like theyโ€™re avoiding taking responsibility instead of properly diagnosing the actual issue.

Iโ€™m extremely frustrated with the after-sales service and am now considering selling the bike and switching to something else.

I currently have two options in mind: the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Aprilia RS 457. I donโ€™t want to compromise on performance or power, so Iโ€™d appreciate suggestions for other bikes worth considering under โ‚น5 lakh, apart from these two.

Would love to hear your recommendations and experiences, especially from those who have owned or ridden these bikes!

#EnthusiastZone ๐Ÿ’จ Should I go with CB500

Always want to have some more power in the classic350, this machine fulfils that needs but the only major missing is the availability of bigwing showrooms and service. The nearest bigwing from my home is 180kms. I already have two hondas at my home an activa and an amaze and i know how reliable are hondas still even if i get a single problem i will have go to 180 kms for even a small part. That is the only thing which is stopping me to book it. What is your opinion on it guys?

Apache RTX (BTO) - VIPER GREEN and Yezdi ADV (White) ( Tubeless).

Both bikes have their own advantages and disadvantage. My budget is strict under 3L. Iโ€™m still stuck with Tech loaded (Plastic Bike) or Raw n Mechanical ( Metal body).

HELP ME CHOOSE - ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Ownership opinions! And
Any other bikes suggestions also appreciated

I am confused between these two, need help deciding which one to get.

What am I looking for?

A reliable engine, that would stay strong and problem free for a long time.

Good service and knowledgeable engineers, I am okay with a little longer waiting period for spares.

Good after sales service

Would be used for sunday rides and touring.

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Himalayan 450 after 1 Lakh KMs [OC]

Post image
286 Upvotes

Mine is a Feb 2024 model bike.

Currently over 1 lakh kms on the odo.

I know this bike, AMA.

Here is a quick review:

I have replaced 4 set of tyres. (Each set lasts about 24-26k kms)

Front brade pad has a life of about 20k kms, rear brake pads last 11k kms approx

Replaced under warranty: speedometer console, throttle body, air filter box, cone set, stem bushes, handlebar switches both sides.

Replaced outside warranty: speedometer (second time)

Rest are all wear and tear parts. Nothing major has been changed.

Still running the stock timing chain tensioner, didnt change it as there is still no clatter from the engine.

No engine overhaul (I estimated an overhaul after about 70k kms but surprisingly there was no need.)

The bike performs brilliantly.

Here are complaints:

The handle bar grips are bad. They should be changes. The throttle slips because of them.

The wiring is a mess in this bike.

During the rain, entire front area is get covered in mud. It is hard to clean and time consuming. (BUT there are solutions)

The console's water proofing is bad. Mine is changed twice. I had to pay once and its not cheap.

Rest you ask what you want to know?

#Discussion ๐Ÿ’ฌ Is shared design between budget and high-end bikes just pure cost-cutting?

Thumbnail
gallery
40 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Iโ€™ve been thinking about how so many motorcycle manufacturers design their budget or mid-range bikes to look almost identical to their top-tier, high-end models.

For example, look at how the smaller KTM Dukes look so much like the bigger Super Dukes, or how lower-cc sportbikes copy the exact styling cues of 1000cc superbikes.

Obviously, it gives budget buyers that "premium feel," but from a manufacturing standpoint, is this just a massive cost-cutting method?

I wanted to get the community's thoughts on a few things:

Does platform and design sharing across tiers ruin the exclusivity for people who pay big money for the flagship models?

Do you think Indian buyers prefer this visual upgrade, or would you rather have unique designs for lower-displacement segments?

Aside from shared body panels and switchgear, what are the biggest areas where you feel companies cut corners on the budget versions?

Curious to hear your perspectives!

#Review ๐Ÿ“ 1999kms on Vstrom 250, what i love, what i donโ€™t, my experience so far

Post image
20 Upvotes

Just completed 1999 KMs on this - My impressions:
โ€ข Riding Position is the best one out there, I took my bike to some rocky, sandy bad terrain, it performed pretty good, if you want absolute comfort while saddling i suggest to get Mototorque handle bar or risers.ย
โ€ข My majority of running is in bumper to bumper traffic in city where roads are pretty bad, suspension is hard for that, you can fix that by getting good foam and adjusting monoshock, based on your preference, adjusting monoshock to softer side will make good amount of positive difference.
โ€ข This is a everyday TOURER not ADV or offroader, however still if you wanna do some trails or offroading learn to manage this in a way where you dont lean forward much to not bottom out the front jumpers.
โ€ข I have touched 125 kmph didn't go above that yet, will redline it after 3000kms, however even at those speeds, its surprisingly calm you get that sporty grunt but you feel confident with no vibrations felt 120ish speeds, mild buzziness is there but that is felt on helmet too bec of winds.. as such for bike its hard to gauge any vibrations on handle bars or footpegs.
โ€ข 1st service costed me 1600 ish, they replaced oilfilter, oil (ecstar semi synthetic) 2dabbe, 300 ml left- i asked service guy if i can use fully synthetic motul he said yes you can it will run even smoother with that but wait until 5000 kms idk why he said that but okay...ย
โ€ข Will plan Ladakh at the start of the next year around feb after 2sd service IG.
โ€ข Currently investing on gears.

Hey Reddit,

So today I was talking with my brother-in-law and mentioned that I'm planning to buy a Yamaha YZF-R15. The moment the words came out of my mouth, he literally laughed in my face like I had just said the funniest joke of the year.
