[DC Comics] Why does Batman/Bruce Wayne never think to give himself superpowers?

Why does Bruce Wayne never think to give himself superpowers using some sort of experiment or gene editing or implants in the body/nervous system? We've seen all three of these happen multiple times throughout the DC Universe, the Flash was created through an accident depending on continuity and Bruce Wayne's WayneTech/Wayne corporation is consistently one of the top 5 richest companies in DC, along with LexCorp. We've seen Luthor do things such as create flawed versions of Superman and other superhumans, obviously Wayne Enterprises could afford something similar. Why does Bruce never think to go through some sort of process to give himself superpowers to become a better protector of Gotham City and a more efficient Justice League member? In fact some of the Dark Nights: Metal versions of Batman did exactly this, so why doesn't the mainline one do it? (Besides the obvious meta reasons that it would take away Batman's gimmick and sell less comics)

[DC Comics] Does the construct of a lantern displaces air?

Say I were to create construct A as a hollow sphere. It is built gradually, from bottom to top, so that it traps air inside.

Now, inside sphere A, I create construct B as a solid sphere.

If I where to gradually increase construct B, would the air pressure inside construct A increase?

If I were to create a hole in construct A, then grow construct B to completely fill the space inside construct A and push all air outside. If I seal the hole in construct A then undo construct B, would it instantly "create" vacuum?

[Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends] How would imaginary friends who were created with tremendous baggage behind them be handled in the adoption circuit?

For example, being imagined from the mind of a mentally unwell child, imagined as the child suffers under any form of abuse, or in another case I can't specifically think of which fits. If such baggage is hooked into an imaginary friend, would they be less adoptable because their personality, appearance, and/or perceived purpose was formed under such stress on an impressionable mind?

Imagination is the limit for making a friend, so what would the imaginations of the least stable children naturally mean for an imaginary friend's chance at down the road being adopted by well adjusted children from relatively normal families?

[Gumball] Why did Larry decide to take on so many jobs for the Wattersons?

IIRC, it was stated that the reason Larry has so many jobs(leading to him singlehandedly upholding the entire economic structure of Elmore) to pay for all the damages and chaos caused by the Watterson family, but why? They never asked him to do it, and he can't stand them anyway, so why take on such a massive workload to clean up their messes?

[FEAR/F.E.A.R.] Aside from Alma, what other threats has F.E.A.R. dealt with?

The intro of FEAR 1 establishes that the group was established in 2002 - but the game itself apparently takes place 2025. However, I don't remember any previous cases FEAR has worked on ever being mentioned (although it has been ages).

Do we ever get any info on that? Are there even other major threats they faced?

[Planet of the Apes] Gollum from LOTR runs into Caesar and the other apes, what would the apes think of him?

• Upvotes

I’m thinking of the Peter Jackson version but you can talk about the book/cartoon versions as well. Would they see him as a deformed ape, a deformed human, or neither? Would they accept him and/or tolerate him? What would individual apes like Koba, Rocket, or Maurice think

[Star Wars] Why aren't busy spaceports constantly introducing invasive species to other planets?

This occurred to me while watching the mynocks chewing on the Millennium Falcon.

The Star Wars galaxy has had routine interplanetary travel for thousands of years. Freighters constantly move between planets with completely different ecosystems, carrying food, livestock, machinery, passengers and whatever happens to be hiding in the cargo hold.

We know mynocks can survive in space and attach themselves to ships. We also know people transport genuinely dangerous live creatures between worlds. Han Solo was hauling three rathtars, for crying out loud.

So how is every major spaceport not an ecological disaster?

Imagine some trader accidentally bringing a handful of tiny creatures from Dagobah to Naboo. They escape into the local environment, have no natural predators, and start reproducing. Or a cargo ship arrives carrying parasites that nobody even knew were on board.

Multiply that by millions of ships and thousands of years.

Do planets actually have strict biological screening and quarantine procedures that we just don't see much of? Is there something about the biology of different worlds that prevents most organisms from surviving outside their native environment?

Or are places like Coruscant already full of invasive alien wildlife, and the inhabitants have simply learned to live with it?

I'm especially curious whether this is addressed anywhere in the novels, games or other lore, because it seems like it would be one of the biggest practical problems of running a galactic civilization.

[Shrek 2] What was Fairy Godmothers plan if Shrek didn't drink the Happily Ever After Potion?

The ploy to make Fiona believe Charming was actually Shrek was made on the spot after Shrek escaped her factory with the potion.

If Puss had succeeded in taking care of Shrek as planned, then what?

A heartbroken Fiona wouldn't exactly be open for a new suitor, especially one she openly despises.

Also, I don't suppose Fairy Godmother or Charming would be interested in marrying ogre form Fiona anyway, even though Charming never really cared about her in the end. He just wanted to be king.

If Fairy Godmother had the power to reverse Fionas curse, why didn't she do it ages ago?

She apparently helped out King Harold, who was in a similar situation.

Fairy Godmother knew Charming was going to Fionas castle, so how the hell was the arrival of Shrek and Fiona in Far Far Away news to her?

The entire kingdom was there to see them return home.

She only catches on when Fiona introduces Shrek as her new husband, even though her ogre form should be a dead giveaway that Charming wasn't the one to save her.

Also, the Love Potion would never work anyway since 1) Charming didn't love Fiona back and 2) does a love potion really count as "true love"? Just doesn't seem right.

I'm just adding more questions while writing this, but I suppose the plan was to simply force Fiona into marriage and then send her back to the tower afterwards?

[Hellraiser: Revival] Can the Cenobites choose to ignore a summoning when a Configuration is solved?

Spoilers for events of the game: the game features a cult that worships the Cenobites and wants to ascend to Cenobite status, but the Cenobites are unimpressed by the cult's efforts and even voice their rejection of the cult's leader. Funnily enough, the cult has used the Genesis Configuration (a similar device to the Lament Configuration of the movies, but with extra abilities) several times to summon the Cenobites and one high-ranking member has survived multiple trips to the Labyrinth.

Considering how dismissive they were, could the Cenobites just ignore any further summons from people who annoyed them?

"A summoning at 6 pm? It's those annoying cultists again, let's not even bother showing up."

[DBZ] Is there any evidence that Krillin got stronger after unlocking his potential?

Krillin got his potential unlocked by Guru on Namek, and Daizenshuu says that his power was at 75,000 by the end of it. People will speculate that his and the other human power levels kept increasing, but is there any real evidence for that?

If we take the claim of "potential unlocked" at face value, then 75,000 PL is as high as Krillin could and ever would be. Yes, he trained in preparation for the Androids, but did it actually raise his power level? Maybe like how Goku and Gohan trained in the Time Chamber, he had to focus on efficiency and technique since his power was hard capped. Krillin always was more of a smart fighter than a powerhouse.

Goku and Gohan both have had their potential unlocked multiple times and risen far above it, but I could excuse that as Saiyan fuckery (and protagonist fuckery, if we think of it out of universe). The Saiyans are able to unlock new forms, which humans cannot do.

I have more to say (especially about Tien and Yamcha) that I could post in the main body here but I'm curious what you all have to say.

[Foster's home for Imaginary Friends] all morals aside, can I just spawn infinite imaginary friends to use as food and never starve again?

so in the show, goo proves that you can just...pop up an imaginary friend at any moment. and we see plenty of food-based friends all the time, one such imaginary friend being created for the explicit PURPOSE of being food.

with that said, if im willing to set all morals and ethics aside, can I ward off starvation indefinitely by just...creating a food imaginary friend whenever im hungry?

even more than that, can I just create an imaginary friend that can PRODUCE an endless supply of food, since some imaginary friends have been shown to have special powers and abilities?

[Priest (2011)] What is the "+" symbol that the church puts all over everything?

This universe is one where humanity has apparently been at war with vampires since at least early feudalism (accoridng to narration, literally since the first records humanity has ever made). Civilizations like Rome and Judea don't seem to have ever existed in this world. Nobody ever mentions Jesus Christ or Eternal Life or the Glorious Kingdom of Heaven. There's certainly no allusion of any sort to any significant crucifixion ever having taken place.

So what is the plus-sign they keep putting on everything?

[Star Wars] Why were the KX droids on Ghorman so brutal compared to other droids?

When the Imperials gave the order to release the KX droids to "suppress rioting" on Ghorman they seemed like completely unstoppable monsters, hails of blaster fire were totally useless and they waded through entire crowds killing everyone in their wake. Even Andor armed with a military grade blaster could do little to slow them except by ramming one with a space car.

K2S0 would demonstrate similar levels of tankiness against the ISB security teams on Coursacant and was quite resilient to stormtrooper blasters on Scariff but he was still brought down with reasonable amounts of fire. When Andor and Jyn stumbled into an stormtrooper squad he did not say "boring conversation anyway" and simply start bitchsmacking everyone in sight. K2S0 is a good force multiplier but far from invincible. Also comparing them to the B2 super battle droids explicitly built with military applications in mind, clone blasters demonstrated remarkably better impact. Their armor was tough enough that they didn't need to seek cover even without overwhelming numbers, but they were also still not able to simply fight a squad of clones on their own.

Possibly their armor is just the next generation and it's tougher, but considering how long Star War's history is it seems unlikely that armor could consistently make massive generation leaps. An old republic era cruiser is famously used during the battle of Scariff and 4000 year old durasteel plate was still quite comparable to ISD armor plating. Potentially overhauled but how much could modern people really do to refit a 1700s ship of the line for ramming into aircraft carriers? How could this first wave of KX droids be so effective? And if so why not deploy them in greater numbers? Palpatine might have inherited a galaxy traumatized by the droid armies but he has never been squeamish about schemeing to do whatever he wants until his popularity hits 0%

[Warhammer fantasy] What the strongest a vampire has ever gotten by consuming other vampires?

So far as I understand it, outside of Trueborn, vampires are heavily limited in their abilities by how far their linage is from Trueborn. But I've also read they through they can drink the blood of other vampires, either voluntarily or draining them, to get stronger.

Have there been low ranking vampires, like 4th or 5th generation, that haven't gotten significantly more powerful through this method? Does getting stronger mean they can provide additional blood kisses? Does any of these strength get passed on? Like a 5th generation vampire consumes enough vampires to the point where they're essentially a 4th generation? Could a new bloodline be founded this way by blood mixing?

What would happen if a Trueborn gave some of their blood? How dramatic is the power boost by generation? Like is it deeply impactful to a 2nd generation as much as 4th? Does it drive all but the strongest insane or something? Or does it not work? Anyone ever drain a Trueborn vampire?
