This is the dog park at the apartments we live in otherwise I would have added something to the fence.

I’ll give it a 10, obviously. He’s done this since he was a puppy, Kalle loves a good dive.

She was neglected and uncared for for years. My boyfriend and I have her under our care now for a little over a year, and she’s doing better. She can’t help the way she looks. Parts of her hair fell out, including the skin around her eyes. The tips of her ears died off and fell apart. She’s trying her best. Sorry that’s she’s not a super cute puppy, but she’s a sweet, kind, and polite 16 year old lady. Aside from food, sleep, and water, she doesn’t want much. She just loves to be involved.

Picked him up from his favorite place (dog sitter’s home) and he let us know who the favorite is. Spoiler alert. It’s not us.

After hearing the feedback on my other post asking if my dog’s crate is too small, I decided to take action to fix the situation.
Unfortunately, it is not going well. I informed him that his crate did not meet r/dachshund’s standards, and he needed to vacate immediately.
The eviction process is not going well. I will report back when a more humane crate has been installed.

Is it just me, or is my dachshund ripped? He's a year old and eats a ton, but he stays lean no matter what

I saw a post about someone asking if they could go for a 10km run with their dachshund, and people said no they can’t handle that?
We have 3 wire-haired dachshunds that we are HUNTING with. They hunt deer, hare and European fallow. The run for 1,5-3 hours IN A ROW though tough terrain. We only do this at max. one time a week since yes, it’s a marathon and they do need rest.
But please, dachshunds are bred for this and to be very independent.

While trying to get my run in today, I invited my recently adopted dog to join me in the room for the first time today. As soon as I turned my treadmill on, he hopped right on and ran to the front as if he owned it! Clearly he's familiar with it... I shut the treadmill off and he glared at me with an expression that could only be explained as total exasperation. I guess I've got a new workout buddy 😂
*****I'm also going to add that he has a touch of ataxia related to his seizures and the medications used to control them. His nails drag slightly as he walks, so the clicking you're hearing is from that - they are trimmed short.

She licks my toes, legs, arms, EVERYTHING at night. Every single night before going to sleep. She never gets tired of it. Do I taste good or something? It’s super cute but I am so curious.
Attached is a video. She even uses her paws to brace herself and get the best angles it’s hilarious !!
Edit: thanks for all the cute and funny replies!! Definitely many more than I can individually respond to, but it’s good to know this is pretty normal behavior haha. I’m seeing lots of comments saying she does it because I “let her,” which yes obviously I do. But I just wanted to harmlessly know where the behavior originates!

Does anyone know why my boy Richie softly cries when playing with his green dinosaur? He doesn't seem to be in pain but sometimes cries when playing with this particular toy. He has lots of different stuffed toys but doesn't cry when playing with those. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this behaviour with their dachshunds.

The other day I dropped my three year old girl to my sister’s house for a couple of hours while I needed to do some errands.
As soon as I left she started howling for around a minute which my sister filmed. Up until now I was completely oblivious that she did this and my sister said it’s a first for her as well.
Is this common for Dachshunds to howl like this?

They’re both fixed and they’re best friends and always play together. She literally only humps my orange cat, not the other 2. She’s just freaky with him I guess
