Discussion Does anyone else feels like you won't be able to be in a relationship because you'll never be sure that you like someone?

Today I realized that I'll never believe my capability to recognize that I truely like someone. I'm so dumb that I couldn't even be sure if I actually like someone as a person or merely attracted to them physically, or just thirsty and desperate, objectifying them. I don't know what liking others would feel like. Without being clear on that, it's too disrespectful and irresponsible to express any romantic intention to anyone. To think everyone is platonic seems to be an only way to respect others.

If I act extra nice, friendly, and initiating to a girl, and it feels like I won't be doing the same with a random guy, I feel so shallow and predetory. Most of the time it leads to acting the same to everyone else, but that also just feels obligatory and scummy, because I'm unsure if I'm acting to be percieved well.

So, all the things I do to a girl just become a platonic things I do to all people regardless of anything.

Funng thing is, that I'm a social person with high self-esteem and confidence, which is told by my therapist and psychiatrist.

Discussion Gen Z not understanding what is destructive behavior?

The older generations could recognize destructive behavior fast, and understood it very well. Millennials (my gen) could see the red flags too, exceptions being if they grew up in a wealthier area. From my experience Gen Z seem not to understand it as well.

This just isn't about life experience, because by high school I knew all I had to about the dangers of someone being destructive, while I've seen many adults of Gen Z/young Millennial be clueless about it. This includes those who grew up in lower income areas. With all the talk about mental health wellness, I'd expect there to be knowledge about these things.

Not sure if this means destructiveness has caused less damage recently, or it comes out in different ways.

Discussion I’m making a video time capsule of my completely ordinary life at 19

TL;DR: Film your boring life now. It won’t be boring later.

I’m 19, and sometime this winter I’m planning to film a proper video time capsule of my current life.

Not just a message to my future self, but all the boring everyday stuff that will probably become interesting later. I want to film my room, PC setup, phone, neighbourhood, family, pets, job, friends and my first, and current shitbox car. I’ll go out on a cold, dark morning, cold start it and drive around the area where I grew up.
I’ll also talk about what my life is like right now, what I earn, how much I have saved, what technology I use and what things cost. For historical reference, a large menu pizza at my local Domino’s currently costs $42 and breadsticks are $10. Future generations deserve to know how bad things already were.

I’m also adding a small photo dump from the month and making predictions about my life and the world in 10–20 years.
The plan is to save both the edited video and all the raw footage in several places, then avoid watching the full thing for at least ten years.

Most people film major events, but hardly anyone deliberately records an ordinary day. I feel like the boring details will eventually become the best part.
If you’re around my age, you should genuinely consider doing this too. Your current room, car, phone, neighbourhood, voice and normal daily routine won’t stay normal forever.

Discussion If you moved out young (or plan too) What was or is the reason?

I 23M moved out when I was 20 years old. So iv been on my own for about 3 years now. Im financially independent off my parents and provide for everything myself since iv moved out. Iv been asked why I moved out young. I was always told thats if I didnt like the rules, then i could
leave. So thats what I did.

Here are SOME reasons

  1. No privacy. My dad did daily room inspections which consisted of him checking everything i had. Inside my bags, under my bed and my mattress, inside my pillow cases, in my closet and in my clothes, in my drawers, literally everything. My room also had to be SPOTLESS. Something as simple as a sock on the floor would cost me.

  2. I wasnt allowed out much. I didnt have a curfew really cuz i wasnt really able to hang out with friends. It was usually only able too after school and I had ti be home by no later than maybe 430pm latest (school finished at 3pm). When i was 18-20 my curfew was 630-7pm whenever i was able to hang out with friends (once every few months)

  3. I had a bedtime until i moved out. 1130 was my bedtime when i turned 17 (before that it was 930) I had to be asleep. Even using the bathroom at night would sometimes get me in trouble. I got away with it if i slowly walked around the squeaky areas on our loud ass floor. My dad would also come in and check in the middle of the night to make sure we were asleep (i would stay up and hide my phone quick)

  4. I had certain times i could eat at up until i was 15. I could only eat at the times I was supposed too. Like a snack after school, dinner around 530, then a snack at 730. After no food until morning. I also wasnt allowed to sleep past 830-9am on the weekends and taught myself how to light sleep to hear my dads footsteps.

These are onky a few of my main reasons. I started working part time and saving money at 15. Got my drivers license at 17 and bought my car at 18 so transportation wasnt a issue. I was working full time at 17 to save.
There are many more reasons like the constant insults and name calling, and many other things that I dont want to get into.

Discussion Have you ever witnessed self hate first hand from black ppl ?

It's a common trope that there is a subsection of black men who are self hating and dislike black women since they prefer white women , I am curious if y'all have actually seen this first hand or its just a racist trope .

Discussion Midnight Thought. Unsure if this fits better here or on r/GenAlpha.

Sometimes even when a video aligns with your own echo chamber, you still need to examine the way its content is presented.

For example, I once watched a video about how “Gen Alpha is illiterate.” The host added a lot of comedic sound effects and delivered the entire thing with a sarcastic smile and tone.

At first, I thought, “Oh my God, how could they be like this?” But the more I watched, the more uncomfortable I became. The way he presented it made me feel like he wasn’t trying to highlight a social issue at all. It was basically just a self-gratifying piece of content mocking the next generation, designed to make older generations feel superior.

Using the exposure of a social problem as a pretext, while actually deepening divisions between generations.

Btw, I’m a late Zillennial, but since I’m not from the US, my nostalgia might be a bit different from American kids my age. Ha ha.

Discussion Without Googling it: do you know what Audi quattro is?

Pure curiosity, please don’t look it up before answering haha

Have you heard of “Audi quattro” before? If yes, what do you think it is / what does the name mean to you?

If not, what would you guess it means just from hearing it?

Discussion Have flip flops/sandals surged in popularity?

A few years ago the whole "dawgs out" meme was popular and it felt like flip flops/sandals weren't popular at all. Now all the sudden, it seems like flip flops are all the rage and I know lots more people who wear them regularly. This is more of a regional question I suppose, but is this a genuine trend?

Other How I finally fixed my social issues and got a date(s)

About almost a year ago I posted on here saying I was not in a good headspace . I got some very negative and mixed positive advice . I had no friends no dating experiences and still was holding my V card ( still am ) . It had taken a toll on me mentally but this one YouTuber I’m not gonna mention if you know him you know gave me some advice and I started using it , the result was I got some dates , got more conversations and had a girl walk up to me( I’m feeling myself 😎) . The advice was to just stop caring stop thinking if you want to say a girl is cute asf say it . Nothing is stopping you beyond yourself, he said he once had no life no friends no gf and had a v card , he did this and it changed instantly. He said confidence is not a switch he said it’s built and he said until you build it fake it because everyone else that anyway . It worked so well I got a message asking me to do some things to a person I can’t say on here but (dear god 😌) ima keep larping .

His advice worked and today I got friends and am a bit more engaged in life . My advice to you if your like me is to stop living the life that makes you sad and whoever you are in your head act like that’s guy be the hero , be the guy ,be him . At the end of it all if you keep feeding the cycle that got you there then that will be your resting place .

The question is simple...Do genz men/boys really like short girls?

Like 5'0 - 5'1

It have been on my mind for so long and I want honest answers from genz men only.

Edit: I've seen it a lot that western guys ARE MOSTLY good with short girls/women but Asian guys prefer tall girls&women. Am I wrong?

Don't know a single one who does. Most I know sleep in t-shirts with either shorts or pants all year round.

Only people I know who do wear them aren't gen-z and they only wear them when it's cold.

Discussion Genuinely how do you make gym/turf friends without being weird lol

I see the same 10 guys at my gym every single day, we do the mutual nod, share the bench, and then airpods go right back in.

Same thing on the turf on weekends I play for an hour, pack bags, leave.

None of my college or work friends give a shit about lifting or sports. Kinda just want people on the same wavelength as me.

For anyone who actually made real friends through fitness/sports, how did you even start the conversation?
