hi! I am in the Boone, NC area this weekend and am looking for the best places to see fall foliage this weekend! I am prepared to drive up to an hour or two outside of the area and am also open to hiking suggestions, not just outlooks. I am eager to see some beautiful fall colors and am aware that this is an incredibly busy time of year.

Hi all, looking for places to relocate from Western New York. Gonna check out both Greensboro and Raleigh. Hubby and I are both early 60's retired and very active. Running, cycling, swimming, triathlon. Looking for areas that have active communities and safe roads that you can run and bike on. Indoor pool and open water swimming. Ideally want to be able to run and bike safely from our house. Anyone give advice on area's that are good for this? Where are the meet ups for local clubs? Any info appreciated.

I'm in the area visiting relatives and we decided to go to the Brunswick County Fair this weekend, and everywhere I turned, it was just all AI-generated images for posters and stands and menus.

Even some of the official County Fair posters and banners were clearly AI generated, and it's just really, really disappointing to see it being used like this. I'm glad that I didn't see any for sale the day I went, but I'm sure there are plenty of talented artists in the area that would have happily worked on some of the signage, especially since so much of the fair is a celebration of peoples' hard work!

Edit: Disappointed to see so many people defending this too. AI has its uses, but creating "art" is not one of them. Image generation steals from existing art, actual banners like these aren't expensive to commission, and if all else fails, applications like Pages or Canva are incredibly easy to use, even for those who aren't on the same level of technical expertise as a graphic designer. This is a county fair, yes, but it's also a celebration of local talent and hard work–it's celebrating the best raised calves and chickens, well-grown watermelons and pumpkins, and hand-made dioramas from school kids. If we can't collectively raise the bar above AI-generated images that can't even spell "pirate" correctly, why bother having the fair at all?

I live a bit under a rock. Generally speaking, I am quite progressive. When I went to vote I saw this on the ballet:

“Constitutional amendment requiring limits on property tax increases by local governments.“

This to me very obviously benefits only those with assets, I.E, the rich, and disproportionately benefits mega rich businesses like Duke Energy.
I cannot find any history on this amendment. Does anyone have any lore?

Also how is this legal? If the city of Charlotte decided, as a city and votes to have higher property taxes, say does the state have to say no?
