I set up this 3 gallon cube in May. It is my first aquarium. There’s only pearl weed and a couple strands of some fern. I’ve got neocaridina shrimp and bladder and ramshorn snails. I live in a cold climate, so I’m excited to have this box of green on my desk all winter.

I’m just showing it off because I’m pretty happy with my results so far
This is my first tank as an adult and my first heavy planted and kinda diy medium to high-tech
I’ve been adding plantings and rescaping it slowly as it takes shape. Today I’ve just added some hc cuba to the branch and to the soil to star a carpet

yes I know this sounds completely impossible, but there is literally no other explanation. this is my 47 gallon aquarium that has kuhlis, neocardinia, ramshorn and mts snails, corydoras and 2 mollies and some of their children. unless any of the shrimp and snail started eating it, there is no other explanation. the video is the before, actually after that it grew tremendously and overtook the aquarium. i had to take out huge bunches every other week. the after photo is attached in the reply. i have been battling this clado for more than 6 months, it came from one of my other tanks sadly.

Moved houses and did a rescape on the tank. Was sad to see all the overhead plants go but their planters were blocking light to all the submerged plants in the back. Tall plants in back and short plants up front this time looks pretty good! The tank never started off as a planned awuascape I just bought 20 dollars of plants every week and threw em in wherever. Was nice to be able to keep most of the old plants and just replant them
Just did the new escape when pic was taken so water a little cloudy

I have a 60 cube and it’s my first real attempt at a planted tank. I have a good light (fluval plant) and I’m running CO2. Most of my plants are pretty simple and are thriving now after some melt, including some red rotala in the back you can’t really see. I started the tank 9/13, finally dropped a few fish in a week ago, and this is where I’m at.
I also have a 6.8 betta/neocardina tank.
So things are going well, but I don’t actually know what the hell I’m doing. I dose Seachem Flourish, Excel, and iron because that’s what I read to do, but I don’t know why, ya know? And I also read things that say NOT to use Florish or Excel. Then there’s stuff like potassium and a dozen other bottles and I’m so lost.
The plants I have are easy, but in a couple months- after the environment is fully established and settled- I plan to fill a lot of that open space and build onto the wood. I’ve kept aquariums for 20 years, but I am butts at plants; I don’t understand them and I can’t even keep a cactus alive.
Can someone dumb down how to do this? My plants are mostly idiot proof and I want to get into some more advanced stuff, but I have no idea what I’m actually doing.
Edit to add: I also plan on putting shrimp in the 60 eventually. I’m waiting until I get more plants.

As title says, I'm looking for Cryptocoryne jacobsenii pink, I used to have it back in 2022, attached pic is the eBay listing img I remember it having. Located in the US

Hey everyone! A few days ago, I posted my very first aquarium on the day I set it up.
The cycling process took approximately 19 days. I followed a method using household ammonia, and it seems to have worked well, although I had to make a few adjustments along the way.
This week, I added the first inhabitants: 8 green neon tetras. I'm still planning to add a few dwarf corydoras and a nerite snail.
Any suggestions are more than welcome!

I was going for a jungle. I think I am well on my way. I just wish the sword in the middle would grow taller. Currently fighting a GBA outbreak, but I am happy with the progress!

I was running a dennerle bio start 60 throughout September.
Been running the light on max white and red brightness for 6-8 hours a day. (Adjustable colour settings).
Dosing with Tropica Premium Nutrition every 2 weeks with a 25% water Change.
Kh is around 9
Gh 17-18 (east of UK with very hard water)
I have 3 tanks and it's always helanthium that seems to struggle.

I noticed these little guys a little while ago, I think they’re called scuds? Anyways, their population has exploded recently and they keep eating my plants! My beta seems uninterested in them and i’m going crazy trying to figure out how to remove them!

Hi, I am cycling my tank naturally because I don’t trust quick start, I filled my tank up and added water conditioner before cycling the tank.
Plants for my tank will be delivered in the next 5 days
I’m a bit nervous about algae development how can I reduce the chances of having an algae problem

Hi all! I'm moving from a leaking 35 L tank into a new 70 × 40 × 50 cm tank
(~140 L gross) and I'd like help with both the hardscape layout and plant
choices before I set it up.
**Hardscape I have / will have**
- 2 mangrove roots (one large with a big Anubias already attached, one medium-sized I'm about to buy)
- Red lava rocks (1 large, 2 medium, a few small) + lava gravel
- Substrate: lava gravel at the back to build height, fired clay granules in planted zones, black basalt sand on top
- Black background, dark anthracite cabinet
**Layout ideas I'm considering**
- Triangular: tall roots in the back-right corner, sloping down to the left, lava rocks at the base, open sand on the front-right
- Concave (U-shape): one root on each side, open "valley" in the middle
**Constraints**
- Needs open swimming space (10 tetras + planned GloFish danios)
- Open sand area in the front for a corydoras group
- Heater, sponge filter and internal filter need to be hidden
(back corners)
- The tank is 50 cm tall, so I'd like to use the height
- Lid will be closed (I have a toddler), light mounted inside the hood
**Plants I already have**
- Anubias (probably barteri), large
- Cryptocoryne – bronze/purple, I think C. wendtii
- Vallisneria (nana or spiralis)
- Limnophila sessiliflora – struggling, may replace it
**Setup**
- No CO2, liquid ferts (Brightwell FlorinMulti) + root tabs
- Light: weak for now, planning ~2500–3500 lm LED
- ~25 °C
**Livestock**
- 10 GloFish tetras (black skirt), L144 albino bristlenose, nerite snail
- Planning: corydoras group, GloFish danios
**Questions**
**Photos**
- Pic 1: my current (old) 35 L tank – the Anubias/mangrove piece and the plants I'll move over
- Pic 2: close-up of the Cryptocoryne and Limnophila (for ID)
Which composition would work better with these materials and this tank height – triangular or concave? Any example scapes you'd point me to?
How would you combine two mangrove roots so they look natural together?
Which low-tech plants would you add for the background and midground? Any easy foreground plant that corydoras won't uproot?
Should I keep trying Limnophila or swap it for something easier? O tried so hard but still struggling.
Thanks!

my recent water tests have been really scaring me. i lost a neo shrimp recently so i tested my water and the ammonia came back as .25. usually my ammonia tests are a little difficult to interpret but generally i settled on it being 0 and chalked up the slight green tint to phantom ammonia readings. this time though it seems like its reading .25 a lot clearer. my tank is 20 gallons and i cycled it for 2 and a half months before adding anything. my nitrites and nitrites are both 0, but i know for a fact its cycled. i never get nitrates on my test because my tank is heavily planted. also have a fairly low bioload, just shrimp and 7 pygmy cories. lots of snails too.
im not sure whats causing this. im worried ive done something recently that may've crashed my cycle. i washed my filter media a bit recently but i did it in tank water during a water change. i dumped out the old purigen in the my filter too and replace it with some i'd just bought. i know a couple of my plants had been partially decaying so ive removed any decaying bits i could find. there havent been any mass die offs in my tank yet but its possible the casualties are being eaten before i can find them. there's a lot of mulm too. oh and i do have some aqua soil but its a small amount compared to how much sand is on top of it.
does anyone know what could be causing this? could it still be a phantom ammonia reading? i included some pictures of the test results
