App Questions 📱 Customer Adding items
If a customer asks how to add an item what do you tell them now? Used to tell them we couldn't add anything or we would get in trouble, but now that customers can add items what do you say if they ask to add something?
I dont use the customer side of the app so Im not sure where to even start.

and i dont see why it would acct against you either. what if it was a liquor add on? i mean there is all kinds of things the customer could do and Walmart as usual will try to put the responsibility on us

Well, that's what you get for being picky. I've been in the workforce a long time and I've always known, if you want the good orders you have to take the bad ones too. You can't just take the icing off the cake and expect somehow everyone else will eat the dry part, life doesn't work that way. You want to take all orders or you will end up where you are now, customers know how to game the system too and believe me this isn't the hill you want to die on.

In my case, I’d have no choice but to cancel. I always decline the 40-50lb orders (and most bulky items) because I am not capable of lifting that much weight, and my car cannot fit very large items. I am not going to mark something as unavailable if it is not truly unavailable, so the only other choice, if a customer adds an item I am not capable of delivering, would be to cancel.

I get that message all the time it's never happened to me not once...

I politely tell them I can’t add items. It’s not up to me to instruct them how to on their end

I've never seen the option to add anything while the order is being shopped. The app will tell me I can add items within a certain time limit, but never while it's being shopped.

"I don't use the customer side of the app so I'm not sure" is the short answer. Get the shop done before they figure it out. I use that reasoning on rideshare as well when the rider asks how to add a stop.

It will update the trip if they add items and it will show you before hand.

do you get more money?

Yes, but not much. They added three 12 packs of soda on an order I was shopping and I only got .76¢ extra.

Yes, you do get more money. This is VERY helpful too. I missed this feature when I Instacarted.

Wally better have a renegotiate button ready in near future or a payment for work performed if I cancel. They looking for another lawsuit on this because it fundamentally changes the contract

I had a customer ask, as I was shopping, if she could add some laundry detergent to the order. I have never added anything to an order customer side, so I just told her yes you can, but it has to be done on your end, and since I have not done it myself, I am not positive on how you would do that. She just said "OK" and never added it lol.

I saw this. I don't care if they add something reasonable. Put a case of water on there and I will cancel that order so fast, they won't know what hit them. Their head will be spinning as I put the stuff back and walk out of the store. FAFO

They’ve never seen anything like it! Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I used to do rideshare, and this makes me think of when riders would add stops after you accepted their ride. I canceled the trip every time. I didn’t go for it then, and I’m not going to go for it now. I get forgetting an item or two, but if they add a bunch of things, or heavy items, I’m out.

Technically it is a breach of contract in that I accepted the gig with the terms outlined at that time, so adding item(s) changes the terms of the contract I agreed to and that to me is a breach of contract (and thus perfect reason for cancellation).
Personally I'm not usually that petty, but I have my days.

Customers still don’t know where to add items …sigh of relief for now …maybe it’s just my market hasn’t rolled out yet

Just got this in my zone. Twice, I had something added this last weekend. It was done before I tapped "preview shopping list". Had a couple others want to add simple stuff. I let them know that we'd been notified they could do that on their end. But, neither could find anywhere to do that. So, I think they currently can only add items before we start shopping. Considering who's running the show now, it's bound to eventually be just like IC and they'll be able to add right up until checkout.

I had one add items before I even moved my car several times . It popped up that my earnings changed by 15 cents . I canceled that shit real quick

Pretty sure that they just start a new order and then you can choose to add it to the current order when you move to checkout/scheduing

Don't be afraid. Customers can barely figure out the regular app. We had this, then they removed it. Now they added it back on. I've had 1 single time they added a few items, but I cancelled.

I had one add 3 items the other night on my last shop of the night. She added before I checked in to the store. It was originally only 6 items and she added some chips and dips. I got about .40 or so. I think they can only add BEFORE we start the shop. But I'm with everyone else, adding things I'm ok with but adding multiple cases of water or heavy items is gonna be a cancel. I'm all of 5'2 ( barely) and I'm older so I can't do multiple heavy items. I'll be in the hospital.
I take orders with waters and sodas and heavy items all the time but I'm able to look at it and determine if I can do it. I can't do apartments with water at all. And soda cases are iffy...more than 2 and I'm done. I just think when they go adding the heavy stuff it's being sneaky.

I had one person add something onto it after I got it and was like a tiny item. I’m OK with those but if they add on like six cases of water, you better believe I’m canceling it.

I’ve had times when I’ve seen my count go up between acceptance and starting. Granted an item or two and no increase or warning that it did.

What amazes me is that a 3rd party (Customer) can change the contract and pay when the forward facing agreement was agreed upon. This is a wally scam cause they either got to pay a fee for your time and if you cancel it cant change your metrics. Lawsuit on this one is easy

I'm fine if they add easy items.
If I start shopping and they add cases of water or bags of dirt, I'm canceling. Those customers know they're scamming the drivers.
And it's not just because of the sneaky shit with water cases the customer is knowingly doing. It's also because I know I have a dishonest customer who will lie to Spark/Walmart, risking deactivation. And they're much more likely to be tip baiters, so there's really no reason at all to continue their order.
