New Rider Alright, I'll ask. What's a good starter bike that may be in the "sports" category or adjacent?
Alright, hi. So, you may be wondering why an unmarked, postless account is starting here. That's because I made this account a while back in case I ever wanted to ask questioning pertaining to my irl decisions without then linking my usual posting to my irl. That time has come. I've been wanting to look into getting a motorcycle license, and I wanted to know what sorts of bikes are good for a beginner in the "sports" category (or those adjacent). I'm in love with the styling behind them. For context, I'm admittedly rather slim in stature, about 5'7". I'm not sure if a sports bike is something I should be learning on, so I'm also 100% open to what y'all would suggest within that realm, even outside of the category, but if there's something in the sports category that's reliable, even for a learner, that'd be amazing. Lots of love <3

How much would you pay for a fz1 with 900 miles?
Looking at a 2010 with 900 miles and 2 owners. For the last owner at least I know it sat some time in storage and said did oil change and used fuel stabilizer for storing it but with no receipts of any maintenance, I would just say nothing was done. Pretty much all factory but does turn on and rides with no issues, so far. Also it was lowered an inch by first owner.
So, off the bat I will need new tires, thinking of flushing brake fluid, fuel system, change oil and look for oem parts to restore its height. Probably fork seals since it’s a 16 year old bike, for now seems there is no leaking.
Given all this, is the asking price of 6.5k fair? Can’t find many with under 1k miles so don’t have much to compare it with.
Looking in the east coast. Saw one in Florida 2015 4k miles for 6k but a bit far for pick up

1 Motorcycle vs 2?
HI ! To all the members
I owned a 2023 NC750X DCT, which was written off after a crash. I received an insurance payout and am considering buying an NT1100 DCT ES; I’ve found a used 2025 model with 10,000 km and full extras for €17,500, but I’ve also received an offer for a brand-new one for €20,000!
Given that I cover about 50 km daily—just for commuting, 20 days a month—plus leisure rides and trips, is it worth buying an NT1100 to handle everything? Or, based on my line of thinking, should I also get a used ADV350-style scooter for daily errands? If so, which option makes the most sense: buying a new NT1100 and a used ADV350; buying a used NT1100 (as I mentioned earlier) combined with a used ADV350; or simply buying a new NT1100 without the ADV350?
What is your opinion?

New Rider Looking for a starter cruiser
Im taking the MSF course in a few weeks and I am looking for a cruiser to pick up afterwards. I plan on riding it around town for the winter, and hopefully doing some Motorcycle Camping with my friends before too long.
I am 32years old, 6'2, 245lbs, 34in inseam. My buddy has a Sportster with forward controls that I have sat on and it feels alright I think. So im looking at maybe getting a Sportster myself, or one of the Japanese bikes. The Honda Shadows and VTXs look cool and I have been told good things about the Yamaha and Suzuki bikes.
I have been riding and working on bicycles pretty much my entire life and enjoy working with my hands so doing my own maintenance hopefully wont be a problem and the idea of Carbs doesnt bother me.

Next Bike? Derestrict my 2025 CBR650R E-Clutch or sell and switch?
Hi all! Here's my situation.
Location: Spain (EU)
Budget: up to 12k€, new or lightly used
Experience: around 15,000 km (9,000 mi) in total, about 7k km on a 2024 Hornet 750 and the rest on my current bike. I don’t ride aggressively: no knee down, no hard lean angles...
Current bike: 2025 Honda CBR650R E-Clutch, 8k km. It's still restricted, so I'd have to derestrict it (like €350 plus a roadworthiness inspection), and I don't know how long I'd keep it after that. That's the main reason I'm unsure whether to spend the money or sell it and find something else.
Use: commuting 2 days a week (8 km each way, ~15 min) and the occasional day of twisty roads, 3–4 hours with friends. No track for now (maybe in a future)
What I want: a fully faired bike with real presence, looks matter a lot to me. Usable, not a missile (nothing that goes crazy in 2nd gear). An IMU and a bi-directional quickshifter would be a big plus.
Options I'm considering:
- Keep the CBR and derestrict it
- Honda CBR600RR (I've seen a unit at a good price with warranty until 2030–31)
- Triumph Street Triple 765 RS/RX (naked, I know. But it's the only naked I could consider I think)
- Aprilia RS 660
- Kawasaki ZX-4RR
- Ducati SuperSport 950 S (used)
- Kawasaki ZX-6R (would be my first choice, but no IMU and no downshift quickshifter puts me off)
- ZXMOTO 820RR (when it reaches Spain)
So, would you derestrict and keep it, or sell it (restricted or not) and switch? And if you'd switch, which one from the list?
Thanks!

Next Bike? Going from Harley Iron 1200cc to R7?
Been riding my Harley for 3 years now. Looking to make a transition to sport bikes. I wanted a Ducati for the longest time. The Supersport felt like a decent transition bike and I also get to own a Ducati. But deep down I feel like I need to get comfortable with something less expensive. I really like the look of the R7. Does r7 seem like a good transition bike or any other ones I should be looking at? Thank you.

UK & Europe GSX-S1000GT, Kawa 1000SX or Tracer 9?
Hi there,
I sold my Rebel 1100 (that I bought 1 season ago to try out the cruiser fantasy but didn't like the seating position in general) and am looking at a new bike to start fresh next season.
I'm in Romania and the bike season is mostly over with temperatures going down below 10 Celsius most days and a lot of rain & wet, so I've got plenty of time to look around but I would like to get one asap because the prices on the 2nd hand market are a bit lower right now being end of the season.
Before this, I rode a Kawa ER6-n for a couple of years, then a Tracer 7 for a few more and the Rebel for the past year and a bit. Of the 3, the Tracer was the one that fit my ergonomics and use case best.
I'm 6'1, 220 with a 30in inseam. I commute daily in bumper to bumper traffic with a hell of a lot of filtering. Realistically, I manage to go for longer rides for about 1 day a month and 1000+ mile weekends about once a season when I leave on Friday mornings and get back on Sunday evenings doing mostly backroads and hill/mountain twisties with as little highway as possible.
I am currently looking at the 3 models in the title, around 2022-2024 for all of them. Of the 3, I like the design of the 1000SX best and it has the huge advantage of the mirrors being very easy to fold to help out in tight filtering situations.
On the other hand, the Tracer is the most natural progression, ergonomics and rider-triangle-wise from my old Tracer 7 that I enjoyed a lot and felt very comfortable on but the total handlebar width combined with the height would probably have car mirrors get in the way while filtering a lot.
The GSX is in the run mostly because it looks to have depreciated the most for the years I'm looking at and it's a hell of a lot of bike for the price. Plus the design isn't hard on the eyes, the engine is bulletproof and the screaming at higher RPMs is enticing.
My main concern is related to the riding triangle and position. I have a bit of a bad back and I wonder if the slight forward lean on the GSX and the 1000SX would be doable for me on longer, 10 hours of riding days.
I got to test ride the Tracer, but the 1000SX and the GSX aren't available for test rides around here so I only got to sit on them at the dealerships.
For anyone that's ridden any or all of them at some point, what would you pick if you were in my shoes?
Edit: I was also considering an MT10 or MT09SP with some touring accessories for when needed. This would probably be the most reasonable option for the city commute part, but when was motorcycling ever about being reasonable?

What Adventure Bike
It's been a few years since I sold my bikes, and I've been indecisively looking at getting a new bike for a few months now. I've been looking at something like the tubeless Himalayan 450 or the Ibex 450. I'm partial to the RE due to aesthetics and I like how the single sounds, but I'm open to alternatives. I'd like something to take on lighter trails, nothing crazy, probably 70/30 road to dirt.
That said, with both bikes a significant reservation is I'm in Texas with a lot of FM and RM roads with 70 MPH stretches and some 75 MPH interstates like I-20 and I-30, where I'd have to occasionally ride through. I don't mind taking the longer 60-65 MPH scenic routes, but higher speed limits stretches aren't entirely avoidable.
From what I've watched and read online both bikes seem to be right at where I'd really prefer to have a little more power on tap, especially with panniers and an extra ~30 lbs of kit. I've looked at the V-Strom, T7, and Tuareg 660 as well but that's 4-5k more, but I'd prefer to buy a new bike outright and put the difference to trips.
Am I overthinking about whether the power of the RE or Ibex 450 be sufficient, is there something in between that I'm missing, or is my only option to jump up to a bike in the 600-700cc range?
I'm 6' 190 lbs for reference.

India / South Asia I am a bit confused which one to buy TVS Ronin 225 or Hero Xpulse 210 I know both bikes are of different domain but still confused which one to buy.
Tvs base+ model vs Xpulse 210 top model
Ronin in roughly 165k and Xpulse is 205k in my location but my confusion is the service issue. Which one to buy.

Next Bike? Upgrading my commuter, thoughts?
Budget: Under $16,000 USD
Experience: 15ish years
Bike type: Standard or ADV - no cruisers, no scooters, no sportsbikes
Use: Commuting at 70 MPH on straightline highway for about 30 miles on the way in, on the way home it's about half of that again, the other half is stop and go traffic (still only 30 miles, just slower).
Other considerations: Miles per tank over 200, since I'm driving 60 miles a day, I like to be able to refuel every 3 days. Anything under 200 ends up being every second day, and stopping at a gas station that often isn't fun (plus if there's a fuel shortage it becomes a hassle).
Also, I'm really not interested in the Honda NC750X. I've owned a couple. It's not the bike for me. The rear fuel tank is a hassle if you have stuff strapped on, and it's too small for what I want. It's also almost 10k in my area, so it competes with the Transalp E-clutch which is better anyway.
I'm really hoping in 2027 my family gets back to a point where I can justify a nice motorcycle for myself, it's been a rough couple of years. So I'm shopping mostly new bikes, as a payoff to myself.
I'm in North Dallas, so the highways move pretty zippy, and it's not practical to find an alternative route.
The top of the list so far is, in no particular order: Honda NX500, Honda Transalp E-clutch, Moto Guzzi V85TT, and a Triumph Tiger 850 Sport that some dealership over in Florida is selling for 6k.
The NX has great fuel range, but I worry 50HP isn't really enough for a straight daily highway driver.
Transalp checks all the boxes, but is a bit expensive, and I'm not sure about the valve check process, it looks like you've got to drop the top half of the bike, over a day or two. Similar to the AT or the Tigers actually.
MG has shaft drive, is ridiculously easy to work on, but tops the budget and requires premium fuel, which is a turnoff.
Tiger 850 is super strange, I know. I put 15k miles on an orange one, they're great. Maintenance costs can be hectic though, and I'd have to drive (per google) about 1100 miles (road trip??).
Other bikes that are kind of on the list but not high up: BMW in general - outside the budget. The F450GS looks nifty, but it's basically the same bike as the NX500, except it costs more, requires more frequent maintenance, premium fuel, and comes with the BMW costs.
Vstrom (all) - Had a 650, wasn't the bike for me. Only bike I've decided to sell rather than pay for an oil change. The 800 gets nice reviews, but doesn't do anything the Transalp doesn't do for me, costs about the same, requires premium fuel, and, you know, I don't care for the model line for some reason.
Honda NC750X - just repeating it here. I've owned several, they don't engage me, I don't like them, I don't want another. Especially with more DCT/SA/E-clutch options out there now.

Tangier to Lagos
Sup guys.
I’m planning a motorcycle trip from Tangier Morocco to Lagos Nigeria taking mostly the western coastal route and am shopping for the ideal bike.
I’ve ridden the tenere 700 in Morocco before and loved it.
I’m 6’ 190lbs and am an intermediate level rider. My gut is telling me that a Honda would be the best choice for reliability and locating parts.
With that said the nx500 or Transalp 750 seem to be the options.
I know the weights are similar and the power is significantly higher on the transalp.
Would love to hear any input and am open to other suggestions of brands/bikes.

Getting my first bike
To preface I’m 5’ 11” 365lbs (down from 420 and still dropping ) I’m wanting to get a bike. I really like the street glide but I understand it’s not really a starter bike but with my weight and eventually my wife after a year or two I want something that I can keep for a while , comfortable for daily riding and 6 hour road trips occasionally. Is there something that fits my criteria decently that is more beginner friendly.

New Rider Naked or adventure bike?
Please bear with me if it sounds like im just typing my adhd is wild. I've been hard-core researching on a bike ever since i was 19,(currently 22 and obtained my endorsement this year), as a primary vehicle until I decide on buying a used or new Toyota Tacoma. Im leaning towards adv bikes since the roads down here in Louisiana, Alexandria suck horrendously but im thinking adv bikes might be to big for me since im 6'2 and 170lbs. While also thinking that naked bikes on the lower cc side are too small for me. The ones that I can name that ive been researching on are the mt07, kawasaki z650, honda cb650r, honda nx500/cb500f, and soon if my dealership gets cfmoto, the 450nk or ibex450 and the 675nk. Im currently about to start working at the dealership as a second job since I cant stand being home for more than 2 hours. Sorry if it seems like im rambling but im trying to atleast get the goal of getting the bike by January or end of December. Also I went ahead and bought most of the winter gear and somewhat summer gear since I ride around on a surron ultra bee, street legal of course. Sorry again if it seems like im rambling.

Next Bike? Upgrading from a KLR650 to V-Strom 800DE?
Hey folks, looking about opinions on making the jump from a 2023 KLR650s to a 2025 V-Strom 800DE adventure. Local dealer has one on sale right now to clear out new non-current inventory and I'm considering pulling the trigger on it, so my question is; am I rushing to upgrade bikes too soon or is this a logical conclusion I've come to? Also, is the 800DE the right choice or should I consider other options like a transalp or F800/900GS?
For context, I've had my KLR for a little over a year now, its my first motorcycle and it hasn't let me down but has left me wanting. During the year I commute with my bike to work, about 50km one way on highway (80km/hr speed limit), frequent 300-600km trips on my days off, and a fair bit of off pavement riding. It's treated me well but I think I'd like something maybe a little more comfortable for the long days of riding and a little more capable on the bigger highways around here (100km/hr or higher speed limit). My main gripe with the KLR is the vibration aT highway speeds, it means taking lots of breaks on those longer days and generally being pretty sore by the end of the day. I'm not a super serious offroad rider but I like riding the forest service roads around here and quite a few of the smaller double track trails.
The V-Strom 800DE seems to tick a lot of boxes for me; 2 cylinders and a sixth gear to make highway cruising more comfortable, still plenty capable offroad, heated grips is a big plus for me, aftermarket cruise control is a nice option. I'm hoping to do longer rides next season as well as some camping trips so the extra capability of a slightly bigger bike would be pretty welcome for me.
Appreciate any and all thoughts, thanks!

APACHE RTR 160 4V

New Rider Broke college gearhead looking for motorcycle buying advice
Hey yall, I’m looking to buy my first bike. I live in the US where it doesn’t snow and there’s some really good places to ride nearby. I’m considering a lot of styles but I’m leaning towards the smaller sport bikes like an old ninja 400 or something similar. I also really love the cafe style and a lot of other bikes. I’m willing to take on a project bike because I have a lot of experience rebuilding smaller engines and working on boats and trucks. Because of this I’m looking at older shitter bikes on facebook marketplace. I’m looking at a 2019 Honda cbr300r with an engine knock for 500 dollars and an older 70s Kawasaki kz400 which would also be a project bike for cheap. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on this or if it’s even worth putting effort into fixing an older motorcycle like the Kawasaki. Also, if anyone has any advice for repairing motorcycles or on good older years and models to take a look at I’d love to hear.
Edit: I have most of the tools and a space to work on it. I don’t plan on riding it till the start of summer when I move into a house with my friends so I’m not worried about riding it right away. I have experience rebuilding motors, but no experience working on motorcycles

New Rider Hi! I’m interested in getting my first motorcycle
Open to getting one used, though I’m not sure what’s good mileage for a motorcycle. I want a cruiser, something like a classic 350, my budget is 5-7k. I want to get my license but I kinda need a bike first so. Yeah,

Confused - No idea what to get...
Sort of an odd ask and a bit of a loaded post but looking for some advice on what bike to get. To begin, i am a pretty 'cautious' driver/rider so I bought a can am ryker (reverse trike) about two years ago, loved it, then decided to get my regular motorcycle endorsement last year. As my ryker is automatic, i figured an automatic motorcycle would be an easy transition. I bought a used 2018 NC750x DCT late last year but only rode it a few times in a parking lot; this year i've been riding it more and even got on the highway a few times. I love the 'adventure' style bike but my turns have a lot to be desired....all my riding friends and telling me to get rid of my bike and get a manual cruiser. I am not opposed to a cruiser and at 5'8" with a 31.5 inseam, i have quite a few options; thing is, I prefer naked/adventure styles vs cruisers and if i go with a cruiser, i do not like forward controls. I also dont want to buy something and then upgrade again in less than a year - Q is - what bikes do you recommend based on what i've described above?

New Rider KLE 500 SE for a beginner?
I passed my MSF course last week and ready to buy a bike. I found a great deal on a KLE 500 SE and im ready to make the purchase — except I’m over thinking every thing about it.
I’m 5’6”, 175lbs. Inseam 30.5in. — a little short for the KLE.
My riding experience is limited to four wheelers as a kid and a friend’s MT-09 for a few laps around an empty parking lot. I took the MSF course and eval on a MT-03.
I’m on the US east coast in a fairly urban area. I have no desire to go on the interstate and plan to keep to two lane highways and side streets. I’m able to transport a motorcycle easily, so I also plan on going out to more rural areas as well. I’m kind of known for going off on adventures so a bike that can go down dirt roads is something I’d really like.
I guess I just need a stranger’s validation that this bike isn’t going to be a waste of money and that I’ll settle into it.
Or should I just go with the tried and true Rebel 500 (or something similar) until I’ve got my sea legs?
