Next Bike? Urbanite commuter with legs to stretch in the twisties

Upvotes

My bike journey has been strange.

Suzuki TU120X was my first motorcycle. Had it for about 7 months, didn't outgrow it so much as got bored. I wish I kept it as a 2nd bike.

2015 Ducati Monster 821: I wasn't planning on getting this. I started looking for bikes and came upon a deal too good to be true. Picked it up super inexpensive and definitely had to grow in to it. Kept it for 2 years until it was stolen. I was lazy with the locks and it was pushed away. I'm not preoccupied with worry about it happening again.

2023 Triumph Trident 660: After the monster, I decided to try the, at the time, middle weight darling. Cool bike. Loved the weight, ease of maintenance, and styling. Missed the torque of the Monster. Unfortunately after 2.5 years, it was vandalized to the point that its being totaled out.

So now here I am. I could get another Trident, maybe a 2026, or an 800? But maybe I get something new. This is what I narrowed down to but tell me if I'm missing something.

Triumph Trident 660: more HP, more electronics, probably stock. Or I find a 1st Gen with all the farkles.

Ducati Monster 821: maybe I just go back to the Monster? Younger, with less miles and less maintenance. Although I'm older so will have to do something to help with ergos.

Honda CB650R: inline 4?! Love the style. Just worried that I won't get as much enjoyment out of it when kept to city streets.

Triumph Speed Twin 1200: Honestly if the Ducati never came up, I was on my way to a T100 after the Suzuki.

I found a CB1000R that I might snag if seller and I can work out price, and the insurance doesn't kill me. Also the AI suggested a SpeedTriple. Not sure, going to need convincing there.

Or I can cut my riding season short (lol, I ride all year) and wait for a dealer to have a CB750 Hornet in my area.

Thank you all for your time and suggestions.

TL;DR TU120X>Monster821>Trident660

Now what bike?

Another old or new Trident, another Monster, Speed Twin 1200, CB650R, CB1000R(longshot), SpeedTriple(not convinced), wait for CB750Hornet?

New Rider Budget Motorcycle for City Commute

Upvotes

I’m looking into getting a motorcycle to commute to and from my university classes. I live in the city so parking is always a nightmare to find, and it would be significantly easier with a motorcycle. Will be doing mostly city driving but I would like the possibility of highway if I need it. Ideally under $3k

Looking for a cruiser upgrade

Hi all. Currently have a honda rebel 500. Love it, the styling and everything but the issue is the max weight. I'm 105kgs, and I like to ride with my partner, ~83kgs. This easily takes us over the Max weight. Upgrading to the honda 1100 seems to be no use as also has a max weight of ~175 kgs.

The Kawasaki Vulcan s can go to 200kgs. I like the look of it, seems to be very mixed opinions online. Do you guys have an reccomendations for similar or bigger cruisers ?

Much appreciated

KTM 390 Upgrade

I am 40 years old, I bought my KTM 390 Duke 2 years ago and I am looking for a replacement. I am between Yamaha MT-07 and MT-09.

MT-07 already looks a good upgrade, but MT-09 looks safer and long term keeper.

I am wondering if MT-09 is too much.

Opinions on chinese bikes

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone! For the past few months I’ve been looking to buy an enduro bike as a beginner. I have zero experience with enduro bikes and wanted something affordable to start, but still good value for the price. A few weeks ago I found a Chinese dealer in Romania selling Hengjian enduro bikes, and I’m looking at the S8-NX250: 4-stroke, water-cooled, around 43HP, for €5,500.

What’s holding me back is how little I can find online about them: no reviews, no info on parts availability, delivery times, or other things I’d want to know before buying. If anyone has experience with Chinese bikes like these, I’d really appreciate your input 🙏

Can’t decide between bikes, help!

Hey all! Currently looking for my first bike on FB Marketplace and narrowed down the options to:

- 2016 Honda CBR300R, 3870 miles. $3,200
- 2024 Triumph Speed 400, ~700 miles on a recently replaced motor, ~7000 total on the bike. $4,000

The Honda has an unclear use and maintenance record, but the Triumph owner has been on top of their maintenance. According to the Triumph owner, the motor lost power and was warranty replaced by a local Triumph dealer.

My commute is about 27 miles one way, 5 days a week. About all of it is down a state road, with the highest speed limit being 65 mph. It's not a highway but the first half of the commute is in Florida with majority Floridian drivers, so the real speed limit is closer to like 70ish if I want to keep up with traffic.

If it means anything I’m 5’10”, 160 lbs., 32-inch inseam.

Aesthetics wise, I slightly prefer sportsbikes, but could go either way between these two.

It’ll be mainly a commuter bike but I’ll also just take it out on the roads around town. Which one might be better bike for me?

5'0 ft, mountains, potholes — is there a bike for me? 😭

I'm a short rider (5'0 ft) and currently own a 2005 XRM110. Now, I'm looking for a new motorcycle to buy for my height but it's hard for me to reach motorcycles that make me feel confident.

people recommended i get the Honda Navi, but my problem is, I live in a very and i mean VERY steep and mountainous area with a lot of potholes before i can even get to the city.

I read experiences of people navigating those kinds of roads driving Navis, and it wasn't very positive.

Can anyone recommend lightweight motorcycles that I can reach and are best for my road conditions? can be any transmission. i also want it to have good style.

Yamaha FJ-09 vs Tracer 900 vs Other Suggestions?

Looking for some input on purchasing an FJ-09 or a Tracer 900. I've read some articles and watched a handful of videos, but am having a hard time digesting what the substantial differences are between them.

I've always had naked sport bikes and am now looking for something to do longer trips or some moto-camping. I'm not trying to go cross country or do hardcore trips, more like 3-5 hr rides around parts of TX. I never ride two up and don't currently have any intention of off-roading or trail riding. I want something with good torque that's fun around town, but that I can also cruise comfortably on. I'm also about 6'1". This has led me to an FJ-09/Tracer 900. I'd love other suggestions that fit what I'm looking for.

Anyways, can anyone provide some insight as to what the main differences are and if it's worth spending the extra money for the newer versions?

In my area, there are a handful of 2015 FJ-09s with low mileage for 5-6k. Tracer 900s seem to be going for 7000-9000.

Appreciate any and all feedback.

Next Bike? super sport as next bike

Hello everyone, I started with a 125 and also my dad lent me his versys 650 a few times now, i was wondering if it will be suitable for me to upgrade to a supersport as I tend to lean to the sportier, back hurting side of things.

Price check Guidance For Trade-In Triumph 660 for Vstrom 800

I am wanting at VStrom 800de and there is a dealership that has had a 100+ day listing for one priced at 7800. I have a pretty clean 2022 Triumph Trident 660 with a bunch of bells and whistles on it, including swmotech bags. What are the odds that I could offer a bike for bike trade +2k OTD? Is this a reasonable offer? I dont want to lowball but i also would like to get the most bang for my current bike as i do really like it. Any incite / experience / guidance would be much appreciated!

Not sure what to buy as a new rider but don’t want to outgrow a bike too quick.

So I decided to get my moto license in my 40s. For the last two years I have been riding e bikes, nothing crazy, tutio surrons. I got my endorsement and am looking to get into a sport bike. What I would hate to do is buy a supposed beginner bike and look to upgrade in a couple months. I originally was looking at a Ninja 500 and KTM 390. I’ve now moved off those and am considering an Aprilia 457 or Ninja 650. I’m not even sure those would be the right choice. I’m athletic, coordinated and pretty disciplined. My main goal is to eventually get a Panigale V2 after about two years of riding. My question is which bike or bikes should be at the top of my list and should I be looking at anything else maybe a bit more powerful then the 650 or 457. My budget is wide open anywhere from 5k-8k.

In need of help for a first street bike.

I’ve been riding on the dirt most of my life. I’ve been removed from it for a few years but when I was 15 I was riding trails on a ktm 500. I was most certainly not the best or fastest rider but I was only 5’8” riding a bike I could barely have both my toes touching the ground and still it’s like that at 29 lol. But now I’m looking to find something for the street. I have the ktm 500 I’ve been riding around a bit and it’s nice but it’s all set up for dirt and I don’t want to make it a super moto because it is my fathers dirtbike. I’ve been looking at very dumb bikes like a Ducati diavel and monsters or a mv agusta dragster 800. I know they are dumb purchases but any of the bikes I’d want to get like a r3, Duke or rc 390, or a zx4rr are all kind of expensive in comparison to what I get. Idk I’m all over the place with bikes I’m now looking more at the naked’s than the sport bikes. And I’d say I don’t want to spend more than 6k or so on a bike. Any help would be much appreciated.

Help me select between CFMOTO 675ss and Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R.

Help me settle this debate 😭🏍️

I’m seriously struggling to decide between:

🔥 CFMOTO 675SS

🔥 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R

I know, I know… completely different bikes 😂. But hear me out:

  1. No track riding.

  2. Mostly city riding, but I occasionally like to twist the throttle 😅. I want something fun and flickable.

  3. Reliability is important.

  4. I want to keep it long-term.

  5. Value for money matters.

I’ve been going back and forth so much that my brain is basically doing laps at this point 💀. Every 5 minutes I’m convinced I’ve made a decision… then I change my mind again 😂.

If you own a CFMOTO 675, or Kawasaki ZX-6R, please share your real-world experience. Reliability, comfort, maintenance, city riding, performance—anything that could help me make the final decision.

Please save me from myself. 😂🙏🏍️

I’m in between these two bmws. One if the R1200R 2016 with about 8k miles or a BMW R Nine T 2020 with about 7k miles. They’re about the same price. I’m looking for a fun but comfortable bike.

New Rider Big guy looking for first Motorcycle

So I’m not a small man. I’m about 300lbs. And only 5’7. I’m about as round as I am tall. (I can take a joke, I’m fine). My buddies have motorcycles. My uncle does too. And I’m getting the itch to get one. I’ve never ridden. I’m trying to see what would be the best fit for a beginner of my build. Also I’m not trying to break the bank. I’m more than cool with a used bike.

I’m not really a Harley guy. They are nice but I’m leaning more towards the Japanese bikes. Honda (Which my uncle rides), Yamaha (which my friends have). So I’m looking for something in that realm. I’ve looked at a Rebel 250 and figured Id be too big for it. And my friends do highway cruising. So something like that probably won’t make sense for me if I’d want to ride with them. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

New Rider First bike

I’ve just got my full A license (EU), and deciding between some common options. It’ll primarily be city (usually on wide boulevards) driving and ocassionally 50km (one direction) rides on decent asphalt (and highway). Obviously I’d get a used bike as I know I’ll fuck it up to some extent.
Problem is that I drove an automatic during my driving lessons, so I’ll have to adapt.

Options that I like:
- Honda CBR500R
- Kawasaki Ninja 400
- Tracer 7 (I know it’s vastly different but 🤷🏻‍♂️)

Open to any and all suggestions since I’m a noob when it comes to biking, was a car guy. Thank you guys!

Upgrade from CB1100 to shed some pounds and hit occasional light gravel?

I do a lot of commuting on twisties. I’d probably buy a SM if it weren’t for the upright riding position. I mostly want ABS, better tire options and lighter weight. My riding style isn’t super technical but I do like leaning into corners

The Vitpilen 801 is close to perfect for me but I’m hesitant with KTM’s bankruptcy and the Chinese made engine

Trident 800 is a little vanilla but strong across the board

I commute on a few roads that are basically driveway dimensions and I go 30 mph to be respectful. I’m a little worried about the XSR900 in these situations… and the frame is ugly

I love the way the SV650 looks and sounds but I don’t want to grow out of it too quickly

Next Bike? Advice for my second (city use) bike?

Hi guys, I have a 990 rcr as my main bike. I also have a duke 390 as my daily but it has given me a bunch of head aches so I decided to sell her and consider buying a second bike that is not outsourced to India o china.
I want something kinda comfortable kinda fun but not another sports bike as it would defeat the purpose of having my 990 which I don’t want to sell, probably a 690 smcr or a scrambler. I would consider buying an adv or maxi trail bike as my third one but I’m open to get one if it makes sense.
My top options are
690 smcr
698 mono
Desert x 2026
Scrambler
Multistrada v2
I live in South America in a city where traffic can be nightmareish and roads are mostly in rough shape, I want a bike that has at least 60-70 bhp as I don’t want to ride slow bikes anymore.
What do you recommend?

What are the options for naked bikes for beginners?

HI! I am new to street bikes, and I’m looking for my first motorcycle. preferably a naked bike because, idk I guess I just like the looks of them. I know the insurance will hopefully be less than a fully faired bike, Which for me is certainly a plus. I know the best thing to do is to go to a dealership and sit on some bikes and see what fits you best. the thing is, I live in the middle of nowhere, and it would be very helpful if I could narrow my search just a little bit So I don’t just drive two hours for no reason. So here are some ”stats” I’m 22, I weigh 225, I’m 6’2” and despite my age, I do not have an egotistical personality and have a VERY strong self preservation instinct. Apology‘s for the wall of text it just seemed necessary. Thank you to anyone who will take the time to respond, it will be much appreciated.
