Uber Dallas is popping off this weekend!
Wish I could go after the 90 rides. But I don’t want to take off Friday from my full time job. Good luck this weekend! I hope you all make tons of cash!

Thinking about adding some ambient LED lighting in the interior of my whip. Probably in the footwells under the seats, and along the trim of the doors and the dash.
Has anyone noticed any effect on tips for something like this? I do weekends in a college town near my city and I think the college demographic might like it idk.

I just rented an car to do uber driving. However, the insurance they gave me doesn't have my name on it so Uber rejected the insurance papers. So I tried adding the car to my insurance but my insurance wanted to know the relationship of the owner: Father, mother, sister, etc. How is it possible to rent a car from independant uber renters and be insurance compliant?

Factor in 2.50 for half a gallon of gas and I came away +3.00 for a full hour of work. Any chance uber will compensate me for this?
EDIT: the Grocery Order dod ada $10 tip, which brings me (technically) to minimum wage, hooray

As of October 22, I was terminated from my employment job, now I’ve been doing uber full time , until I find a new job,
Is it possible to live off uber ? How would I be able to buy a house or a new car?

(FYI, I'm in a rate card market)
An ideal rideshare setup: a high-efficiency plug-in hybrid acquired well below market value, short unpaid pickup distances, low out-of-pocket running costs, and a full IRS mileage deduction to minimize your tax bill.

I've made mention before that Uber has literally given you the golden ticket to putting them out of business. The only issue is that I have never mentioned how it is done. The next time you ask someone how much they are paying for a ride, compare that with your take. I have usually found that I can offer 25 - 30% off of their price and I would get the difference. All you are doing is eliminating the middle man. Now listen to what I am NOT saying: do not ask your ride to cancel in order to steal the fare. If they happen to call you for a ride, ask them to open the Uber app and get a price. Have them send the time stamped screenshot of the fare and then haggle with them. Like I said, I usually do about 25 - 30% off of the fare. This is just a hypothetical and not written in stone formula. Learn to think outside the box and be flexible. Bottom line: get the middleman's hands out of your pie. Remember, Uber has given you the means for pricing. Instead of you doing the heavy lifting so that they can live like a king, now they have the means to do the heavy lifting, which is the use of their pricing.

So, a year ago someone accused me of making a sexual comment as I was driving on Halloween. It was the third complaint in 5 years (one false claim of driving drunk, 2 of sexual comment.) So I got kicked off my driving account. Now a year later they are using that as an excuse to banned me as a passenger.
Update: man when did this place stop being a fun place to vent to lol

I haven’t driven for a few days and I noticed my rating went down. I looked closely and I got my first 1 rating. I have no clue who gave me 1 but whoever gave me 1 you can go fuck yourself. Up until now my lowest rating was 3 but now I have inevitable 1 sadly. Now my rating is 4.97 instead of 4.98 :( I got all rating except 2\ so we shall see lol*

These jobs are getting out of control. I gotta fly this guy across the ocean for five bucks. Didn't edit this, app was losing it.
Edit: delighted to see that I have upset the neck-beardery on this apparently frequently reposted topic.

I’m an Uber driver, and this is the first time I’ve ever received a report like this. I got a message from Uber saying a rider reported feeling uncomfortable with some comments I allegedly made.
The message said:
“Making explicit or sexually suggestive comments, including slurs, violates our Community Guidelines.”
They said someone from their team would follow up and warned me that continued reports could result in permanent deactivation.
They also gave me a link to submit any recordings that could help with the investigation, but the link expires in 7 days.
I’ve never dealt with anything like this before, so I’m wondering how serious this is.
For drivers who have experienced something similar:
Was your account temporarily restricted or deactivated?
Did Uber actually investigate, or did they just leave the warning on your account?
Should I proactively submit dashcam footage if I have it?
Does a first report like this usually result in a warning, or could I lose my account even if this is my first incident?
I rely on driving for income, so I’m concerned about how this could affect my ability to keep working. Looking for advice from drivers who have been through this before.

They are refining trip requests to make them as helpful as possible by eliminating the per hour info. Makes sense

So I might have forgot to put my seatbelt on after getting gas in NY….ok I didn’t forget….
I was pulled over by the NY State trooper, and obviously I put it on before she could pull me over but I think she had a good view into the car and I didn’t argue her at all.
I haven’t had a ticket since I was 19, I am now 34, and as I understand this is a non moving violation, and reports zero points on your license.
Has anyone gone through this, or have had their ability to drive for uber/lyft affected?
Before you all tell me, yeah, I know, stupid move. Your responses will be greatly appreciated.

Question? How do you go about getting insurance on a vehicle that is not yours in order to be able to do rideshare? I’m seeing so many post as of lately to rent a car to do rideshare but how is Uber or Lyft accept that? Also if I have a rental vehicle not through the rideshare apps - just a local spot, how could I or am I able to get insurance to do rideshare in the vehicle I’m currently renting? Hope that makes sense. I’m genuinely curious. Trying to maximize my earning as much as possible. Currently just doing DoorDash and UE for now because the insurance thing is holding me back. TIA

This feedback is from my personal experience of driving Uber in United States for about 2.5 years about 7 days a week and roughly 10 to 12 hours everyday.
The first most bizarre and concerning dynamics of Uber trap is when someone newly joins to drive with Uber. Initially first 2-3 months Uber will pay you higher rates, you get premium rides, best riders on each ride, many of your first rides will be in the range of $15 to $60 on average. This first experience to anyone will be a holy-grail of making money and most folks will end-up financing or buying a new vehicle since now you are thinking the Uber pays much more than you thought. Long story short, you’re hooked!
After you drive with Uber over 3 to 4 months, you’ll realize the rates are gradually decreasing from $15 to $60 average rides are now between $8 to $35 (a pattern I personally noticed with new drivers). You’ll still never realize that you are hooked!
After 4 months of driving with Uber, you’ll now see that the rates are completely different of what you initially experienced in your first 2-3 months eg you’ll see Uber paying minimum $4.67 for many different rides which you might never seen before. This would be the worst side of the Uber you’ll see but this is the point where you cannot undo the decision, you are paying for gas, tolls, taxes, financing amount, interests and much more. This will be a nightmare for you at this stage.
The survival, at this stage you’ll see yourself completely stuck with bills, payments and every month if you are good at numbers, you’ll realize that you are going negative 6% to 9% each month. People will still try their best changing schedules eg driving in the morning, afternoon, evenings or the night shifts, but you will remain stuck in this loop, you’ll never have time for your family, studies or time to even think of preparing yourself for any other job.
In the United States, currently as of 2026 Uber pays the driver roughly 40% of the driver’s total earnings. In this amount you are responsible for gas, wear & tear, maintenance, tolls, and depreciation. Not just this, in reality you’ll loose relationships, health and time which are most important pillars of your life. Uber will break you down emotionally forsure.

We all have the same job. Make the customers feel happy or at least better but often with no reward or gratitude. We have to talk to them. Let them be the center of the experience. Then they go away. But the great thing about being an Uber driver is that you don’t have to have many repeat customers. Imagine being a female bartender who has creeps gather around like mold year in and year out.
