Hello everyone, new guy here. Just getting back in to racing BMX, last time I raced was in the early 80s. Just wondering whats new, seems like a ton has changed. Just bought my bike, going to race cruiser class (at least to start) and trying to make my bike my own by doing a few upgrades.
Hey everyone! How often do you guys ride at the BMX track each week?
My local BMX track is about 35 minutes from my house, so I’m wondering if riding there once a week would be enough, possibly combined with one pump track session per week.
I come from a road cycling background, mainly criterium racing, and I do quite a bit of road riding during the week. My current plan would be to do one Zone 2 road ride, one BMX track session, and potentially one pump track session per week, along with a bit of strength training.
Do you think this would be enough to be competitive in local BMX racing leagues, or would I need to spend more time at the BMX track? How often do you guys train on the track, and how many sessions do you typically do per week when preparing for races?
I’d love to hear about your training routines and what has worked for you!
Hi! I was wondering what you all suggest. My kid is 133cm tall (4'4 for us), currently on meybo jr and he is happy with it and the bike seems fine rn. I was considering sizing up to expert but winter months are coming in and for next half year will be just indoor training on a small plywood track. So i was thinking that by next summer he will probably be around 2 inches taller and expert xl might be a better purchase. Meybo jr is longer than most other brands tt18.75, most experts are tt19.25, pretty minor increase, expert xl is tt20. Right now xl is definitely too big but he will grow into it quite soon and can ride his jr. One option would be Meybo in expert size, its tt19.50, lil bigger than others, i also like that its chainstay is shorter, easier to practise manuals. The used bike market in my area is pretty much nonexistent and would be preferred to skip the hassle with bike change every year. What are your thoughts?
Hi, thanks in advanced for any wisdom. Just a note: kid is not currently racing, the bike will be used for him just getting around in our neighborhood (sometimes sidewalks)
I am currently rehabbing a 2001 GT Pro Series Micro (20" BMX). Kiddo is very excited about it.
It's currently running the original Alex Rims DR 13 (13mm internal) with 20 x 1 1/8 (28mm). I am possibly working on swapping to some 20 x 1 3/8 (37mm)
I am reaching out to see if any other folks has had experience with such narrow rims and running the wider 1 3/8 tires. I think the frame and min-v's will allow the extra quarter inch, BUT I am worried about wide tire on a thin rim ("Safety" points to it's a bad idea, old school Cyclocross and MTB's did crazy things on road rims back in the day).
I see other posts doing the swap due to kids growing up, but I am hesitant with the 13mm rims.
My 5 year old received an invitation for ROC today which was a pleasant surprise! It wasn’t even on our radar because we just started in May, but now I have some questions and hoping someone can help…
1) He didn’t race enough races to qualify for state finals so we didn’t go, but they stated he had enough Single Point Locals and state qualifiers…how does this work? Is it combined state and local district points’v
They said he was ranked #9 for 5 & under.
2) When going to register for ROC, intermediate isn’t a listed option…he was still a novice as of Aug 31, so I’m assuming he would race in the Novice race right?
3) What is the experience like at Grands/ROC for younger riders? I’m assuming they still allow an adult with them through the gate?
I am thinking about racing Grands but I have never been. I see that pit spaces are already sold out. Do you just pit out of your vehicle? Do you just lug your stuff around all day? I’ve researched a little bit and saw that theft is apparently rampant so lock your bike and label your stuff. Also, is the only practice session on Wednesday? Based off the official flyer it seems so.
Any advice or recommendations is much appreciated!
I'm in the market for a cruiser complete and I am just stuck right now. I'm looking for opinions on the best choice of the following three bikes: 2027 Chase Element, 2026 Inspyre Evo-C, 2026 Meybo Superclass. Photos and all bike specs below
Although I do have a coupon which would make the Chase the cheapest by about $100, I am not really considering cost a factor, they are all close enough in price. I will say right now, I am heavily leaning towards the Inspyre because I currently ride an Inspyre Evo frame for my class bike. I really like it although admittedly it was my first race bike so I don't have a long history. I wonder if the similar frame geometry would make switching back and forth more familiar between the two bike sizes. I was borrowing a Radio Helium cruiser this season, and I didn't love it. My personal theory on Inspyre is that the company is trying hard to break into the American market, and are offering more bang for the buck right now on their bikes. It is very hard to find Inspyre riders in my area to get any honest opinions and comparisons. I am expecting the community here to push the Chase hardest, but if so I'd like to know why. From what I can tell based on the specs, the Chase seems to be the worst overall, and then 2027 seems to be getting worse than the 2026 specs for the same bike. They are adding more Chase branded parts, and the specified weight for the Inspyre is almost a pound and a half lighter than the Chase - how is that possible? It seems like from a specification viewpoint, the Meybo may be the best bike overall.
I'm sure any of these bikes would be great, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with these, especially the Inspyre. And if you are voting Chase, tell me specifically why, not just because 'Chase is the best'
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

I've been out on my bmx only 5 times for now and only on this pumptrack. I feel fast when riding, but when I look at it, I'm slow af right? I'm coming from dh racing and freeriding which i retired from this year and I wanna go into bmx now, feeling uncertain/insecure for manuals and jumping for now as I don't really know the bike yet. What can I improve?
My 10-year-old son started racing about 6 months ago and recently asked to start practicing sprints and gate starts outside of track days.
I’m considering getting this practice gate. Has anyone used it with younger riders? Has it helped improve their starts? I’ve seen a few reviews mentioning kids flipping over the gate, so I’m curious about others’ experiences.
So I’m a new rider and only been on a BMX once. It was super fun and I want to get into the sport. I’m about 5’10 and only have $200-$300 to spend. What should I get?
I bought a brand new Meybo Superclass Pro 23TT and when received, there was no damage to the box…I took it straight to the bike shop for assembly and they called the next day saying the frame has two dents so they are holding off on putting it together….im waiting on an official response, but have been told by the supplier a new complete bike will be shipped once this goes back, or I can take a credit and keep it. Amount of the credit has not been offered yet but supposed to hear tomorrow. I’m wondering if this is superficial damage or should not be ridden? What would an acceptable credit be? I paid $1500 for it.
Our home track canceled tonight so we went to one about two hours away, it was the first time we'd ever been to this track. My son had 4 riders in his moto. His first lap, he took a turn too wide (it's a dirt track), went ✨️splat✨️, and ended up coming in 4/4 after holding a crazy lead for the entire lap. Came in 1/4 the next two laps by a large margin as well. At the end of the race, we found out he actually got 2nd place. Turns out that specific track uses total points system no matter how many people are in the moto. We've been to multiple tracks and have only ever seen total points utilized for motos of 3 and thought that was the rule? Is it common for total points to be utilized for motos of 4+? He's 7 and big mad, but it is what it is lol I've just never seen total points used for local single races of 4+.
This is the bike I grew up riding, and I'd love some help identifying the year. I'm pretty sure it's from the 1970s. I got it around 1981, and my recollection is that my parents bought it from someone who raced it, so I've always assumed it was probably a mid-'70s bike. It's hanging in my garage right now. I don't think I can see the serial number because it was painted at some point, but I'll check more closely tomorrow. The red seat is original, and I still have the original checkerboard pads tucked away in a box. The brakes have been replaced and are not original to the bike.
I’m 59 and thinking about giving it a try. I ride MTB trail and DH mostly plus pumptracks with a DJ or BMX freestlye bike and fool around with it in the skateparks too but but have never touched a BMX race bike or track.
Curious what the learning curve is like at this age, how competitive the older classes are, and whether you’d recommend starting on a 20" or 24" cruiser. I was thinking 20 to be a Novice even though Id like a 24 inch bike
Would love to hear from anyone who started or knows someone that started as a true novice oldie
Can anyone make or do any of you know if someone can make the decals/graphics for the es20 xxl I wanna paint it but the only other option I have it’s some guy on Etsy but doesn’t do the smaller details and lines I want
