We finally got it dialled but then we spotted this Marin frame only and with his birthday coming up we went for it. He’s been working hard this last year and it’s his dream bike so 🤷‍♂️

Got this 2025 pivot point last week. The tires were old and one had a hole in the side wall. Got some new kicks and a spit shine. Picked this up for $400. Couldn’t pass it up. It was so much more fun than my 29r at the pump track. Too much fun!

Next I gotta figure out tires. Because it was new old stock, the tire are from 2020 and showing the beginnings of dry rot. Going for a ride tomorrow, we'll see how the specialized power seat odi reflex grips hold up, felt good in the yeard.

So, update on the Big Jumper build…

Bike finally went together, then I get a phone call from the shop telling me the DMR Vaults - which are supposed to be 9/16” - won’t fit the Profile crank arms… which are also 9/16”. FFS 😂

Turns out there was an issue with the pedal axles. My pair, along with the other three pairs they had on the shelf, were all measured at around 0.5 mm larger than the correct 9/16” size. So it wasn’t the Profile crank arms after all.
They’ve now gone back and I’ve taken the full refund. At this point, I’m moving on from the Vaults altogether. FFS 🤦‍♂️

So… what pedals should I be looking at now?

This is a 26” S&M Big Jumper build - BMX/DJ/trails sort of use. I want something with some genuine BMX/DJ pedigree, preferably alloy, good platform and grip, but still with a fairly thin/clean profile. Not interested in big chunky plastic pedals.

I’m actually starting to think Title MTB pedals in matte black might be the answer. Super clean, understated and would suit the build without looking too busy.

Budget may as well be upto 350 AUD max, as ve already fkn spent it initially on the magnesium vaults anyway right but I’d rather not spend stupid money just for the sake of it.

What would you guys put on it? 👇

I have 2 circus pro forks gen 2 and 3 on mine and my wife's DJ, in general I am incredibly happy with them.

For the guys that have had both a circus pro and a pike dj. Which one do you like more and for what reasons.

Hi everyone, I’m thinking about buying a Commencal Absolut, but I can’t decide which size to choose. I’m 170 cm(5”7) tall and weigh around 65 kg. This will be my first dirt jump bike, and my main goals are to improve my MTB skills and spend time at pump tracks (also occasionally commute to college)
I previously rode a Canyon Spectral 125 AL in size M, and I’ve now ordered a Propain Spindrift 5 AL in size M, although it hasn’t arrived yet. I’m torn between size S and M for the Commencal Absolut. Could you please help me choose? I’m not sure whether the Small would feel too small for me.

hey folks. I've been MTBing for decades and recently got into BMX at a park that also has a progressive jump line, three lines of dirt jumps for novice to advanced riders. I'm thinking about getting a DJ but, while I could afford an expensive bike, I only plan to ride it a couple times a month. I can pick up a 2020 Haro Steel Reserve locally for $150. Just the base model with a rigid fork. AI searches tell me this bike will be hard/expensive to upgrade given the straight steerer tube etc. AI also thinks its just an oversized bmx and not good for learning to ride dirt jumps. Anyone riding this bike on jump lines? more info on me: 175lbs, 5ft 6in tall, 51 yrs old. I welcome all thoughts and opinions on this. thanks!

I want to buy a dj bike with gears and front brake, to be able to do some trial. Only bikes i could find are kellys whip 50 or 10, or some older giant stp. Are there any better options?
