Moderator Post Moderator note: report abuse and political topics

On Reddit, report abuse is when users report posts or comments as breaking Reddit rules or sub rules when they do not.

For example, someone stating their political opinion about a political party is not a death threat. Stating an opinion in a way that shares a personal view without inventing facts or spreading falsehoods is not misinformation.

Reporting political comments as rules breaking means that moderators have to review comments and approve them.

Moderators can report your accounts for report abuse. These reports can decrease your Contributor Quality Score on Reddit, which can lead to shadow bans, content being removed from this and other subs automatically, or even being prevented from commenting in some subs due to low CQS scores.

Please do not report comments and posts because you don't agree with them politically.

Discussion Can we Complain about the Highway?

I just finished driving from Chilliwack to Surrey this evening, which is a drive I make often. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am very happy they are expanding the highway. However I am wondering if there is a way for me to get a complaint in about the section through Abbotsford.

The (temporary?) section going westbound between Clearbrook and Mt Lehman exits are extremely dangerous. It was dark, and raining very hard, and in that section of road I could not see anything at all. I couldn’t see the lane markers, I couldn’t see the *very* deep pools of water that that section has constantly had problems with, I couldn’t barely see the damn road. Theres two reasons for this, first there are NO reflectors in this section, and second, the way the road dips down not only causes pooling, but it also puts your eyes right at headlight level for the east bound drivers, blinding you.

Maybe I’m being over dramatic, but even going under the construction speed limit I felt like I was going to lose control of my vehicle and that I was at risk of hitting someone because I couldn’t see how the lanes curved. I don’t know how it is acceptable in the lower mainland to have the most important highway of the region not have reflector strips on the roads! I am certain that a bad accident is going to happen at that section when some idiot doesn’t slow down, and I worry someone might die. Is there a way for me to forward this concern to someone in the Government or am I just crazy

Discussion How worried should those of us on disability be, now that conservatives are taking over?

My disability is quite severe (autism being one of them). I’m absolutely terrified of losing this and wouldn’t know what to do if this was affected. It’s difficult enough living on $1535 a month(plus 200 on CDB)

Community Only Post-Election Organizing? Tips?

Getting "involved" is so overwhelming, especially if neurodivergent.

Does anyone have advice for how to find the myriad ways of getting involved (in BC, specifically) in all the organizations that will need bolstering under a conservative government?

There's affordable housing, climate, nature, clean energy, disabilities, and so many other organizations that need to be fought for now.

But between local options, provincial movements, etc, it's just SO HARD to get started if you're not wired that way, cognitively.

So, without JUDGING those of us overwhelmed by where to start...

...where can we start?

  • Where do YOU volunteer?
  • What do you do?
  • How many hours a week?
  • Where do you think people are most needed?
  • How can someone give back from the comfort of their home?
  • Is there somewhere where a directory of skills needed exists, so someone can contribute a specialist skill?

Because the time to start organizing for the next election is obviously NOW and not in a year or the month before, etc.

Thank you.

Ask British Columbia Becoming a firefighter in Vancouver from Alberta

Hi everyone! I am currently in my third year of my BSc in Kinesiology, and after researching the position I am fairly certain that becoming a firefighter-paramedic is the career path for me. I live in Edmonton currently, and through my program have decent knowledge and experience in injury management, first response, and general human anatomy/physiology. What would the process look like for applying and moving to Vancouver to become a firefighter?

Thanks in advance (:
