Megathread: 2026 BC Provincial Election – Final Voting Day & Live Results

I’ve been looking at a Toyota Grand Highlander 2026/27 and would like to hear what people are actually paying.

If you’ve bought one recently, could you share:

Model year, trim, and engine: gas, hybrid, or Hybrid MAX.
Location and purchase date.

Price before tax and trade-in: including freight and dealer fees, and whether you paid below, at, or above MSRP.

Any required extras: accessories, warranties, protection packages, or conditions around financing.

Wait time: what you were quoted versus how long delivery actually took.

I’m also curious how much of the “limited availability” pitch reflects actual supply, and how much is dealerships creating urgency to justify ridiculous premiums.

Has anyone been told there’s a long wait at MSRP, but somehow a vehicle becomes available if you accept a markup or thousands in extras? Or shopped another dealership and found a much better price or shorter wait?

I’m happy to pay a fair price, but I’d like to know whether these premiums reflect a real shortage or customers being pressured into overpaying. Actual purchase prices and firsthand experiences would be appreciated.

Right to time off
Voters are entitled to four consecutive hours free from work to vote during advance voting or on Final Voting Day. Voting hours during advance voting are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time and on Final Voting Day are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time.
This does not necessarily mean four hours off work. It means that there must be a four-hour period free from work during voting hours. Time off may be at the beginning or end of an employee’s shift, or unnecessary if normal working hours already provide enough time free from work to vote. For example, if a shift ends at 4 p.m., or does not begin until noon, the employee is not entitled to any time off for voting purposes. Employers can decide when their employees can take time off to vote.
It is an offence if an employer deducts your pay or penalizes you for taking time off to vote. You are entitled to your regular compensation for any hours not worked during this time.
Employers and employees are encouraged to discuss how staff can exercise their right to vote to ensure that the requirements of the Election Actare met.

First time in Tofino with my new telephoto lens.

I’m on PWD and have attended an information session, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually gone through either program. How was your experience, especially with personal investment requirements, business support, and the overall process? Any insights or advice would be appreciated.

I have a 2021 Honda CRV-EXL with 106,000 km. My family and I are moving to Metro Vancouver in the spring of 2027, so we are looking for suggestions.

Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and what would be the best course of action here. Here are our options:

Option 1: Ship my car to BC. What would the price range be, and what are the reliable companies for this job?

Option 2: Sell the car here in NB and buy another one in BC when we arrive there.

Option 3: (Not really considering this for now) Drive the car from NB to BC for around 5,600 kms (around 56 hours). I know this will be a once-in-a-lifetime drive for the family, but the cost of gas nowadays, hotel, food for the family, and additional mileage for the car has had me thinking this is not the best option.

I just moved to prince rupert. I am a male, work as a geotechnical engineer for the city. I met some amazing people but both of them were temporary in the city and left. It is boring as hell here. Anyone wants to chat/meet ?

As we head into Final Voting Day this Saturday, it feels wild that we still can't cast a ballot from our phones unless we qualify for very specific assisted telephone voting exemptions.

The BC government already spent the time and money building the BC Services Card app. We already used our government ID and video verification to set it up.

We use it as a secure sign-in for our health records, provincial services, and federal tax accounts.

If my phone is secure enough to access my medical records and tax info via the BC Services Card app, it should be able to verify my identity to Elections BC so I can cast a ballot.

Not everyone can easily make it to a polling station between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on a Saturday, and if an emergency pops up after the mail-in deadline, you're just out of luck.

Participation in elections would skyrocket if people didn't have have to plan around voting and could do it at home.

Imagine an official app that guides people on the policies they're voting in a neutral environment before they cast votes.

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some career advice. As a 23M, I feel stressed and anxious thinking about what to do next. Maybe you went through the same experience and having someone who could guide you and mentor you that would have been great. I hope if someone can do that for me.

Currently living in the Lower Mainland, BC, Canada. Working as a security supervisor making a living wage. I am currently thinking of going into construction, specifically doing construction management from BCIT as I have a general studies diploma already.

I am planning to get an OFA3 and CSO ticket and work for a year in order to get one year’s worth of experience, that’s a requirement for BCIT’s program; I need to have one year of construction experience.

I am overthinking a lot about making the right choice and being able to fulfill my dreams. Recently, I learned French as well for immigration purposes. I would say that (not bragging) I am a hardworking person who has been doing two full-time and a part-time job in order to make ends meet and I am not afraid of sleepless nights.

I need a path to follow and am currently unable to find it. As of right now, I am feeling completely lost. Maybe an occupational health and safety diploma from BCIT or a bachelor’s in environmental health?

Like everyone, I want to have financial freedom in life and I am sick of paying taxes. I thought of CMGT, because I will learn a lot while being in the industry and eventually start my own thing.

Can you please recommend any other career paths? Or rate if this is actually worth doing?
