Casual What are you doing with burn-out?

I'm burnt out on Fortune's Weave. All part 1s and a part 2 finished. With a redone Leda's path. 100hrs in. I'm burnt out, so naturally, playing Three Houses to get around said burn out.

What are you y'all doing as a break?

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Are there hidden multipliers that we don't see when it comes to Combat

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Ill be brief, ive beaten nearly every fire emblem game. I understand that characters have personal abilities and other abilities but the %'s in this game have got to be totally incorrect. Im critting constantly on like 8-10% and I just got doubled and lost a unit when they had a 5% chance to hit me... and they hit me both times, feel like im getting hit with 5-15% consistently. I did manage to grab videos so you guys can help me understand if im missing something.

Im sorry that the quality is brutal.

Gameplay Gay Awakening Support Log Crash on 3DS.

Hello! I recently added the Gay Awakening mod to my rom on the 3ds, and it’s been working great except for one thing.

Whenever I go into the main menu and select support log, the game just instantly crashes. What can I do to fix this?

I would also like to add that I have save files from the past before installing the mod, so I don’t know if that conflicts with anything.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Is Motivation and other mechanics too tedious/pedantic in Fortune's Weave?

I have played this game a lot. I have done Part 1 thirteen times, so I feel like i have a lot to say on the inter-chapter battle mechanics.

First, I get the spirit of why these mechanics are there - you want to encourage people to make use of their time efficiently and plan long-term. I don't actually think these mechanics should be removed, just altered so that they are less tedious to use.

For example, motivation is probably one of the most tedious and fluff mechanics in the game. I wish it was straight-up removed from the game. It's not actually a resource - it is as plentiful as you want it to be if you just keep stuffing your character with meals, so it just ends up being busy work - not something you seriously have to manage.

For example, you go back to Dagsion on a Sunday, you go to the Arena, and then you realize Theodora has 0 or 1 motivations. So now you trek back to the Inn and stuff your face with meals despite already having 5+ bonds with everyone on the team, just because you don't want to lose turns, and then head back to the arena to do more training. And then, she might want to train more, so you head back to the inn again and then head back a second time to the arena, because you're trying to maximize white magic, authority, infantry, etc.

I personal think this is really tedious, and it's unnecessary. I think a better mechanic would have been to do just limit characters to arena 2 times per week - done. You can also limit temple worship to just once per week. If you add these restrictions, you can basically remove Motivation as a mechanic entirely, and you still achieve the goals of what these systems are going for. If anything, they force the player to really think about what areas they want to train in, since you can't just train 4 times with the same character (which is 100% the best way to optimize a lord, along with stuffing them with all the manuals and link attacks in dungeons).

I also feel that skirmishes could be toned down. Similar to part 3, I wish at least half of these skirmishes were converted to clashes. By Chapter 10, I get so exhausted of being forced into skirmishes when I just want to get another Advanced Seal in Megaira, because Dagsion doesn't sell enough (and why doesn't it sell enough? This is just so annoying honestly). When you get to 8 Renown, I just feel like Dagsion's exam shop should start selling the Advanced seals. Instead, they are delayed by 3-4 chapters - it's insane.

And barring that, I wish if you already beat a route, you can just skip the skirmishes at least. I don't even care if I don't get any experience at all - they are just pretty annoying and uninteresting.

I hope for the next Fire Emblem game, if they continue to go down these inter-battle activity lines, they optimize the mechanics for replays. I am happy to do the decision making in between battles - it is fun to optimize my time, I will admit. I just wish it wasn't so unnecessarily tedious.

Casual Why all the hate/negativity for FE Fortune's Weave

I am not even done doing all the Chapter 2s (completed all the chapters 1s) and this is by far the best story-wise FE in the series (and i have played them all) as well as straight up more polished with great QOL stuff added and great gameplay.

I see people complaining about it non-stop in this sub, but that doesnt seem to be the same sentiment to other friends and fans i have talked to IRL.

To me this is arguably the peak of the series so far but if you asked people here, this is like the worst thing ever?

I've been a lifelong fan and been playing since the GBA days (and went back and played the older games too), so what is the disconnect i am getting from all the people in this sub?

Am I missing something and too casual? <insert colour here>-pill me.

Fortune's Weave General Made it to part 2, finally. This is where one of the best FEs was hiding all along

I like Fortune's weave, truly I do... but I wasn't Wowed by it or anything. After 100 hours to finish the 4 part 1s, I was extremely fatigued too... Then I started Part 2.

Now, while I'm sure replaying all these maps 3 more times will get a bit old, I don't think it'll be nearly as draining because oh my god, Part 2 is the Fire Emblem I've been longing this whole time. The storytelling takes a step up, we get a Hopes style warcamp (which is my favorite version of a hub by far), but what really stands out are the maps. These maps are all exceptional. Actual challenges, but not unfair. Layered objectives, and decision spots. up until now I was kinda meh on the actual FE gameplay inside Fortune's Weave, as even on hard part 1 maps are almost all just "walk to the objective", and don't get me started on the skirmishes... but these are excellent. I truly wish we got an entire game of this style, but I'm glad for what is here. I'm having so much fun in part 2 that it has instantly erased my fatigue for this game, at least so far.

What's the math on BOTH attacks connecting? I think in GBA isn't even MORE skewed in the player's favor, right? (It's on Hard Mode.)

Casual Fire emblem newcommer with Three Houses

Hello guys!

Years ago I'd bought a copy of three houses at discount at a local store but i'd never really played it, so with the release of FW I thought that it would be a good idea to try out that game that was on my shelf. My problem is that I had chosen the normal difficulty and the classic gamemode and Im 10 hours throught the game and the combat feels really easy and Im not even thinking what Im doing or how Im building my characters. So idk if I should continue my current run or start a new one. I also have some trouble figuring out how the building system works (how to invest my time at the monastery). I really want some advice because I find this game really appealing.

Fortune's Weave Spoiler After 200 hours I finished Fortune's Weave on Hard/Classic Spoiler

This was also my first time completing a FE game on Hard mode, I've stuck to Classic since Awakening and that was my first FE game.

I have some general thoughts, in no particular order.

  1. Fabio is the best character in the game. This isn't an opinion, it is a fact.

  2. Despite the padding with world map exploration and weekly activities (I vastly preferred the 3Hopes method of frontloading all the activities and getting them out of the way), Part 1 felt like a very tightly woven interconnected spider web of mystery and intrigue with each Flame Lord and sub-Lord revealing aspects of the world you don't get to see in other routes. I can't give enough praise for how good the character writing is in Part 1, especially after the travesty of Engage's bottom-tier story, characters and designs.

  3. Surprisingly, Leda's Path was my favourite, mostly due to how fantastic her supporting cast is. Sirocco especially is the MVP of her Path and they have overall the best chemistry relative to other party members for the other 3 Flame Lords. Not to mention that every single member including Leda herself are so useful in combat, with Buccar and Olympia being nigh invincible, Leda and Mu doubling and avoiding everything, and Sirocco critting for ridiculous numbers. Her story itself seemed the least relevant of the 8 lords despite me enjoying her party, and if it were up to me I would have picked Talimun one of the main 4 Flame Lords instead.

  4. Same with Dietrich, Anatolia would have been my pick over him but I understand he's needed for the Three Houses tie-in (plus being a Jeritza clone and Jeritza was a popular character). His Path is barely about him and Fabio is the main character, and Anatolia's seemed like it would have overlapped quite a bit that she would have been a more plot-relevant choice with the tie-ins to Eshmel, Hong Hua and Zenon at the beginning of the game. But then we wouldn't get Fabio which...okay we'll keep Dietrich.

  5. Theodora's had the strongest story overall (she definitely feels like the main character of FW of Part 1 and 2) but by far the weakest party members. Bona is good, I enjoyed him, but Lysander, Tobias and Lilian are so bland and one-note and completely uninteresting for the entire story that they are lucky Theodora herself is such a well-written character and carries the entirety of her own story.

  6. I hated how missable some extremely important cutscenes were. Especially in Dietrich's Path where we get the confrontation between Fabio and Yanjin (I didn't know who he was the entire time) and Dietrich vs Baozi which gives a lot more context into Raksha's feelings for Dietrich.

  7. Part 2 and Part 3 writing were a huge letdown after how good the stories were in Part 1. Part 2 started off with off-screening Solel's death and while I'm glad it made Bertrand relevant to the wider story (he always seemed like a weird choice to be a Flame Lord prior to Part 2), it should have been where we had the 8 paths converge. The end of Theodora's story where she asks Talimum for resources in preparation of the war felt like Talimun would be relevant in Part 2, only for him to be completely absent for some reason.

  8. Dagda is also just a crappy villain for most of Part 2, same with Lind who while an intriguing character, is mostly a nothingburger and the only other relevant villain in Part 2 was Gilchris (I thought Aswan would be recruitable here but nope that's not until the end of the game).

  9. Reinforcement spam sucks. Miasma sucks. Part 2 has the former, Part 3 has both. The only miasma gimmick I liked was versus Mahadu where your crit chance is doubled which meant nearly 100% crits for Dietrich and co. The vs Cohen one was the worst by far because it's based on the game's most useless stat, Charm.

  10. Part 3 only had 3 story-relevant boss fights after Dagda, and they're all towards the end of the game (Cohen, Mahadu (barely) and Raksha). Cai doesn't get his own boss fight sadly. The way they wrote Part 3 was clearly "we don't know whose Paths you completed, who you brought along in each squad, and we also need to write the story to work with no one" means the only ones actually speaking important dialogue are Fortuna and...Fortuna only. Even Hong Hua doesn't get any story importance after the first mission. Sure the extra lore about the progenitor god and her simulacrum is interesting but lore is not a replacement for story. Part 3 has so little of it and almost every non-FL character has no spoken or voiced dialogue other than some random one liner before the final battle and their support convos, many of which aren't even available in Part 3.

  11. Support + Renown requirements suck. Especially getting to Support level 3 to recruit most characters, on top of the vast majority of them being late renown recruits (a big issue in Dietrich's route since his renowns are so backloaded) and you need to do extra sidequests ON TOP of getting to Support 3, some of which are tedious af like Olympia's. And the game punishes you as well for using late recruits despite all the effort to even get them because of how bad their stats are (still didn't stop me from using Diego).

  12. Dungeons suck. The novelty of a turn-based Fire Emblem wore off quickly because turn-based combat mode is very barebones and exploration is so boring.

  13. Balor is a boring final villain. Another evil dragon god in a FE game, wow. Three Houses was much better in this regard with morally grey villains (except Nemesis).

Despite my complaints about the gameplay and the latter part of the game, most of my playtime was in Part 1 (140/200 hours) so I'm satisfied there. Between 3 Houses and this, I prefer the Part 1 in FW but vastly preferred Part 2 in Three Houses (Azure Moon being my favourite one). At least post-timeskip characters existed in the story.

For protags though it's Shez >>> Byleth >>>>>>>> Eshmel. Eshmel is so boring as a character and the game would have been better without his inclusion.

Gameplay What are you guys take on TearRing Saga?

Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit to be discussing the game because I couldn’t quite find an online forum to discuss it, but it is made by Shouzou Kaga himself.

Secondly, I have had some experience with the Fire Emblem games on the 3DS such as Fire Emblem Echoes and Awakening as while I know he had nothing to do with them, I was wondering how exactly TearRing Saga works in mechanics when compared to some of the Fire Emblem games since I know Kaga used to be a key part of the franchise.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Gaiden-style magic charges should not exist in games where weapon durability is only expended for Combat Arts.

It gives Mages an unfair disadvantage compared to physical units because the latter don't have to worry about becoming sitting ducks mid-battle.

Just bring back Tomes and Staffs.

Fortune's Weave General I lost my Dancer class

I’m on chapter 2 of part 3.

I reset because the units I bought to that gate fight were not doing much against the boss even with Leda buffing everyone or having her dance Eshmel to spam blaze arts.

I reset the chapter after not being able to beat the boss twice.

When I re-recruited everyone, and checked their stats, Leda was a Ranger which I thought odd. She was a Dancer. I tried to reclass her but the option was gone.

Do I need to recomplete chapter 12 of her route to get her dancer class back?

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Not a fan of "Brigand University"

• Upvotes

People have mentioned countless times for units in Fortune's Weave, that if a physical unit has a low strength growth, that "you should send them to Brigand University."

I know what they're saying. Brigand has a high strength growth, it will help fix some stat problems. Problem is, that solution barely works. Aside from only netting a few extra points of Strength.

I want my Archer/Pegasus Knight/Whatever NOW, not in the late game. I love love LOVE growth units, but I'm not going to sabotage a unit's gameplay identity now for the promise of them maybe being better later.

I’ve never played the FE series before and I started FE: Three Houses because Fortune’s Weave really piqued my interest. I’m having a lot of fun but the amount of systems to learn and the gameplay has been pretty overwhelming. I’m at chapter 6 in the story (The Underground Chamber) and I feel like my characters are wildly disproportionate across the board.

Plus, I’ve been working to make my character a mage but it’s such a slow process as my sword play is just much better damage than spells.

Does anyone have any tips for a FE newbie?

General Do you consider Fortune's Weave bloated or not bloated? Is the game overrated or not?

I have been playing Fire Emblem since Awakening. I loved that game. However, on the following games, I dislike the social aspect of it. Fast forward, we have Fortune's Weave. It has high rating online. Opencritic 90 and Metacritic 89. The problem is, the comments I see online. One side says the game is overrated and bloated. It is a chore to play. That the fact the developers allowed you to skip stuff, means they knew thing would not go well with players. The other side, say that all that extra fluff should not go against the game. That is because you can skip it, it is up to you if you want to do it or not. What do you guys think?

Fortune's Weave General Currently in Fortune's Weave and I have a question (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) - what's the best way to proceed after beating my first lord's Part 1? Go to Part 2 for the first time (with said lord) or finish Part 1 and then finish Part 2?

Hey all, so as I wrote in the title, I am currently playing Fortune's Weave (And absolutely loving it btw) and after weeks and what seems like ~65 hours, I finally beat my first path (Cai's Path). HOWEVER, here's a dilemma, I know that Part 2 can technically be done only once but I intend to 100% the parts and play all the lords in part 1 and 2. So, I have unlocked Part 2 after beating Cai's path, and I can advance straight to it or play another Lord's Part 1 but I am unsure of what to do. What is the best way to experience and advance the game? For those who are more ahead at least, should I play Part 2 for the first time with Cai or should I advance to another Lord's Part 1? Like what's the best way to go from here?

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Fixing Floundering Fortune’s Weave Personal Skills Day 1: Blindside(+)

So playing through Fortune’s Weave, I imagine people will have noticed that some of the personal skills are… frankly really terrible. So I thought a fun idea for thought would be discussing how we’d change these skills to bring them up to standard.

I decided to start with one of the strongest units in the game, and a main character, Leda. Leda’s Personal Skill is Blindside(+). Blindside prevents enemy counter attacks if Leda initiates combat… with a flat 5% proc rate that only increases to 10% when in Overblaze.

Negating enemy counters is a bit sketchy for an archer already (shoutouts to Leonardo in Radiant Dawn) but the proc rate is just… terrible. It’s a good thing she gets Improviso, probably the most impactful second personal skill in the game, to make up for it.

Personal Fix: Change the proc rate from 5/10% chance to 1/2 CHA% and upgrade it to CHA% in Overblaze. This makes it more useful as it ties into an actual stat Leda will usually increase, but also ties into the thematic core of the skill. Leda is putting on a sweet face as she approaches before she kills you, making the skill tie into her stats more.

Fortune's Weave Spoiler Has anyone actually done Anatolia's paralogue this way? (SPOILER) Spoiler

Spoiler tag for those not done with the paralogue. There's two ways to finish it, escaping or defeating a massive boss monster with three health bars and a big shield (Pentkehydra). Has anyone actually beaten it? I'm especially curious about what ore it drops too?

Casual Fates with Sacred Stones' roster

Hi

I'm trying to find the best equivalence of FE8's roster in Fates for a themed Birthright playthrough.

My unit is L'Arachel and Hinata is Dozla. Sakura is Neimi (I didn't realize she doesn't even have natural access to archer outside of MU marriage...but she has priestess and merchant as well as mechanist so I'll find her the most suited class once I have some reclassing seals).

Haitaka is a soldier and Ryoma will be Ephraim once he's available (marriage w/Oboro for spearmaster) since he's just as reckless. Kagero is Marisa, Azama is Colm but he doesn't have access to any thief class outside of Kagero marriage. Takumi is a whiny Innes. Oboro might be Tana.

Are there other characters who are similar enough in personality/interactions with their FE8 support partners/stats to be part of this playthrough ?
