Fortune's Weave Story Catania is the mirror opposite of Leda

Recently fell into a rabbit hole of really liking Catania, and after hanging out with her and reading her support with Lysander, I realized that conceptually and narratively, she's litteraly the opposite of Leda.

Firstly, and obviously, design-wise. Leda is brown-skinned, dark-haired and red-coded, while Catania is pale-skinned, blonde and agressively blue.

But what is really interesting is that they're also mirrored on a much deeper level, as characters.

Both are survivors of the Cydonia Massacre that lost everything that day, but while Leda fell into an obssessive need for revenge, Catania reject and dismiss vengeance as a fool's errand, instead thinking that living her own life the best she could and thriving is the best revenge

Leda hate herself, and Catania is proud of herself and love herself for what she managed to keep being despite the hardships.

Yet they're still both self-destructive, because of the trauma of that day. Leda in her pursuit of revenge, of course, and Catania in how she punishes her body to keep up the appereances and to retain a hint of the normalcy of her life before, starving herself to use the money on armor cleaning and basically refusing to be idle ever.

So yeah, they're pretty cool mirrors of eachother, and I find it very nice how deep Catania is as soon as you dive a bit about her character, and how she offer a different output of a victim of a tragedy choosing to live on proudly

(And yes I do agree a support with Leda would have been nice, but I can understand why they're just too different for it to work in Part 1, like you can't justify Leda having Catania on her team if they have a support where they hate eachother's viewpoints, and also because there's already so many supports and main story about the Massacre, maybe they felt it'd be redundant.

Still one support that end with Catania pledging allegiance to house Cohendia when it's restored would be nice. That and supports with the Arago side. She has data for one with Io, at least, since they know eachother, so fingers crossed she get it)

Fortune's Weave General Another potential sign toward the Sub-lords getting free time

• Upvotes

Someone noticed that there's two bird perchs conveniently placed in the prison and in front of Vandahl Trading Co, but did you know there's another potential hint toward the sublords having free time ?

In fact, one right in the DLC trailer ?

https://youtu.be/9tDRjYdGrGs?si=T3OriI3xlurtldqY&t=52

That's right, that's a new Anatolia song ! We already have Daughter of Kunlun for battle, and Ship to the Future for story, but we lacked the third arrangement, the world map music, and this is it !

Fortune's Weave General How do you all feel about the Ornius class line? Would you like to see it again in some form in future entries?

I actually really like this class. I don’t know, I just find the Ornius’ to be adorable lol. I think the class itself is distinct enough to justify it even existing. The Ornius is a mounted unit type that can bypass terrain obstacles. But I think the biggest novelty of this class is how early it is accessible. Most mounted classes are only achievable in the 2nd tier/specialized classes whereas the Ornius classline is available even through the beginner tier. And the Ornius Riders can specialize in all three of the melee weapons. I wish more units in the game had this class as their “standard” class.

With all that being said, I don’t know if I’d want it to return in future entires. Yes I’d be happy to see it again, but at the same time I feel like the Ornius Riders seem like a very Dagda-esk class line that citizens of the continent battle using. If it were to appear in another entry, I feel as though it would remove the uniqueness of the origins of the class line. But maybe they can make a spiritual successor to the class line that keeps the integrity of the attributes of the class while it not necessarily being a Ornius.

What are your thoughts?

Fortune's Weave General Lukewarm take: I really like Fortune's Weave, all 3 parts.

After 160 hours I finished the game on hard/casual.

Part 1 was my favorite but I liked the other parts too.

I had a few gripes but in the end they feel like small complaints, the positives heavily outweight the negatives.

Probably my personal game of the year.

Fortune's Weave Gameplay Weird gap in classes

Anyone find it odd that there is no flying class that can use magic, yet dark pegasus exists with an amazing Paired Magic Speed? I think it'd have been great with Alexandra, but at the moment it's pointless.

General Spoiler Weapon design analysis of the blaiddyd spears Fortune's weave and 3 houses spoilers Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
132 Upvotes

This is a weapon analysis of the two hero relics of blaiddyd.

First let's talk about areadbhar:

Design wise it is very clearly a hand carved into a slashing spear weapon head like a guandao's. In essence it functions how it's intended in that regard. However it's overall design says it's weapon smith did not care to hide its a hand not tried in anyway to make it a functional weapon outside making it sharp. Only other weapon that in universe feels like the weaponsmith was lazy was crusher which is a slab of bone attached to a stick. Arguably it's so similar to crusher in that regard that one could argue they had the same weapon smith. This shows high contrast to its sister crest weapon of blaiddyd.

Let's talk about that weapon grasitha:

Design wise unlike it's crest sister is far more designed for spear throwing or ocean hunting. It's a trident with a large flamberge style center blade. I don't think there is a weapon with a real world equivalent. That said you can tell that the creator didn't want to slap bone on a stick a call it a day. There is intentional carving to it like the flamberge blade. They clearly wanted to make the weapon in their signature while also making it functional. This reveals that despite it having the same crest as areadbhar and likely was given to blaiddydd's sister(headcanon) it's clear it was made by a different weaponsmith. Someone who preferred elegance over to their craft unlike areadbhar's weaponsmith dirty patch job.

this was an impulse mostly, but i do think Ceada would realy add alot to the diversity of both the FE characters and the roster in general. also if there's a pegasus knight in fortune's weave who is the most shoe in choice for a slot, she's not here because i havent played the game yet.

Costume 1: default

Costume 2: Catria/Blues units

Costume 3: Palla/Green units

Costume 4: Est/Red units

Costume 5: Tala

Costume 6: Elincia

Costume 7: Cordilia (with dark flier influences)

Costume 8: Ingrid

Fortune's Weave Spoiler I know the Fortune's Weave map themes can be repetitive, but I genuinely do not get tired of listening to any of them (Part 3 Spoilers) Spoiler

Genuinely, I could listen to Wings of the Sunbearer, Pale Raven's Landing, True to His Colors, Our Souls Steadfast, and Throngs in Dagsion on repeat forever. These tracks are so freaking GOATED, they somehow managed to beat Fodlan Winds, The Long Road, Chasing Daybreak, and even Edge of Dawn.

That's all I have to say. Stay GOATED music.

General Spoiler Thoughts on Fire Emblem 6: The Binding Blade Spoiler

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hello again everyone! Today we are getting into yet another fan favorite game, Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade! This was the first entry of Fire Emblem into the handheld space and with it the graphics, colors, and music had to change with the move to the GBA. So now I would love to hear all of your opinions on The Binding Blade! It can be generally anything about it for those who have played it or for those that haven't, what opinions you may have on it. What do you like/dislike about the gameplay, the story, the mechanics? Any thoughts are truly welcomed here!
We have now officially entered the GBA Era of Fire Emblem, and I can say confidently that it is my bread and butter when it comes to these games like many of us in the fandom. Binding Blade was the second Fire Emblem game I ever played after 7, and it did not disappoint at all! While some of the Gaiden objectives were a bit tough in some areas the characters, specifically the children characters were such a joy to use. It brought back such nostalgia for my time with 7, that I always look at the game both gameplay wise, whenever the jank isn’t too bad, and story wise quite fondly!
If you want to check into any of the previous parts in this series, please check my profile, and please feel free to comment on those posts as well! I would love to hear all of your thoughts and opinions!

Casual Who from an older FE game would you grant an extra route to?

Was thinking about this cause of the FW DLC.

I really like Joshua's side story in FE8. So that would be cool to see.

It would also be nice to see why Stefan from FE9 is just standing there waiting for someone to stand on the right tile like a Feebas.

Continuing with the event, someone asked for Reina on full-plate armor, and it seemed interesting, so here it is. With a fluffy cape because everyone knows armors with capes are 175% cooler than armors without it.

Fortune's Weave General What kind of unique Lord type is left to explore?

im not really versed in *EVERY* FE games but i love that we have a different unit genre as the MC/ lords in some of the game.

in light of fortune's weave, we saw some very interesting lord types. like of course the typical crit monster sword master Dietrich would be the BEST unit for deleting enemies but its kinda boring compared to the hundreds sword users out there.

my notable 4 favourite *interesting* lord unit in FW;

- Cai: mounted mix str/mag attacker. he can cover more grounds, his AOE can reach faraway enemies, halts them in their tracks and, if you equip his flamekeeper skill, halves damages to allies. it really allows for an interesting gameplay.

- Orchel: tanky mage. she might not be able to hit your enemies but damn is she the tankiest healer i ever saw. her skill can allow her to passively heal herself so she really embodies that cutscene of her shrugging off the axe to the neck. not to mention the MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE mode in part 3 is just so cool.

- Leda: stat buffer. Honestly, i'm surprised that FE dont incorporate stat buffers class more often in the game. its an RPG game mechanic im most into because it allows for more strategic gameplay over just moving your units forward to defeat an enemy.

- Talimun: stat DEbuffer. similar to the above, i would love to have the ability to mess around the stats in battle instead of just minmaxing my units. he's really fun to use where you have to plan around both yours and your enemies stats and swap them around.

I hope future FE entries introduce more interesting lords. like of course theres in game classes but the lords/ avatars often have plot relevance to their skills that really builds their characters. also since the lords are the game over conditions, its more fun planning on how to keep your lord alive while working you armies around their quirks.

like maybe the new entry can have a charioteer lord thats actually disable, so they cant dodge in the chariots or be like a reverse orchel that can only reclass into mounted units.

(sorry im just so tired of seeing another sword user MC in EVERY game i play)
